We've started planning for our 2014 Disney extravaganza. We're considering renting a timeshare for this go around as their appear to be some pretty awesome deals.

My question is, is it too early to look for a timeshare rental in 2014? Am I better off waiting and trying to get a great deal?

We last stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Villages but that was at the regular rate room rate. I see people literally giving these away now but I don't want to commit to the annual maintenance fees just yet.

Any advice? I'm new to the timeshare scene and would appreciate any guidance.

Thanks guys

I have found that for us renting timeshares is cheaper that owning. And you are not committing to a lifetime of fees.

The earlier you book, the more you will pay to rent a timeshare.

Where to rent? Ebay, Redweek.com and Tugbbs.com are three places to start. There is a wealth of info about owning timeshares on Tug.

You will find that while there are some individuals who rent their timeshares, lots of rentals are done by people who rent timeshares as a business. Some my own the timeshares, others may be doing for people who can't travel but are looking to recoup maintenance costs.

Thanks so much for the replies guys, I guess I'll wait a while to actually book as it does seem like waiting pays off, as I've learned after reading a little on TUGS.

Just makes me a little nervous to not have things set up as early as possible (I've inherited this trait from my wife as she is the compulsive planner in our house).

I think we'll try renting this year and see how that goes before even considering buying (Upatnoon is right and rentals do seem much cheaper than buying and also minimizes risk as I have no fees to pay after our vacation).

I guess my last question is the difficulty in renting a timeshare for two weeks vs one. I know most of these are sold in 1 week blocks, so am I looking at twice the effort in trying to find an affordable two week rental?

Thanks again for your help folks
