2014 Prices

Here's my take on the whole thing -

Honestly, I think DCL 1) is not a fan of the whole dummy booking scenario, and 2) prefers to fill their ships using the VGT/OGT/IGT rates. Those rates are restricted fare with the entire cruise cost due at the time of booking and are NON-REFUNDABLE. DCL loves these rates. No on board rebooking on board credit. No way to move your cruise over & over & over again.

It used to be that Opening Day prices were still better that the *GT rates. That was the case on my June & Dec 2012 cruises on the Fantasy (my price was still cheaper than a VGT, although I booked a Cat 5E & most VGTs were assigned Cat 4s, so they probably did technically get a better deal). Not any more. These opening day prices are just awful. I guess that's business!

I'm not a fan of dummy date booking either. I think it's unfair to take up space that someone may want and potentially
drive up prices. Disney needs to come up with a way to allow for future bookings without holding a place on a date that the cruiser has no intention of going on. I have booked on board several years in a row, but have always known the cruise I wanted. I have only moved one and that was because we could no longer cruise at the time.

I have never paid more than $1000 pp (11C) for any Disney cruise, even the 14-night Transatlantic next May, and I am not about to start! Thankfully, I have no dummy cruises to move and no plans to book onboard the Fantasy next week. I haven't found DCL's service to be superior to that of other cruise lines, and it isn't worth the premium price for a run of the mill Bahamian or Caribbean itinerary.

Where is everyone finding 2014 pricing? I don't see anything past Dec 2013 when I go to the website.

My TA yesterday had quotes for me.

Yep. Same with my March Spring break. Later summer cruises went up even more!

That is exactly what I'm finding for the August 2 Fantasy (Im currently booked, and going on, the 8/3/13 Fantasy).

That being said - I did forget my 10% from booking onboard. Whew. About $50 more than 2013 for the Western. However - sadly, the days of two cabins are gone.

:confused3I"m happy, both cabins i have booked dropped a little over $100 each.

Had 4 Dream night early Dec '13, now early Jan '14

With all taxes fees:

$1,398xx 5E 2 adults (reflecting OB booking promo)

$1,766xx 10A 2 adults, 1 child

Just looked for a eastern carribean in june for our family of 5. 8D for $8400. I was on the magic out of NYC this year in June and spent $2700 less for an 8-nighter that included a 6th passenger. That fare even included a park hopper pass and transportion to the parks and back. DCL has completely lost their minds.

I hope you are reading these threads DCL. You have lost another loyal customer as our family has dropped our OBB and will be taking our vacations to another cruiseline. I am sure these other companies are very happy that DCL can't stop making poor business decisions. All the improvements in kids activities elsewhere will come in handy now.

I emailed our TA to abort the mission for moving our OBB to 5/24/14. No way DCL!

So, opening day for 2014 is actually HIGHER than the comparable cruise for 2013 (looking at early June). That is ridiculous. I was banking on saving SOMETHING by booking day 1. I need to book 5 rooms, looks like this trip ain't happening...BOO!!!

I moved my OBB to a 5 night wonder out of Miami but will most likely cancel the whole thing. I hate how the only 7 night cruises are on the fantasy and the prices make that impossible (over 5k for an inside stateroom for 4 and still have flights to book). Time to wait for last minute deals.

Already see that DCL did not learn from their 2013 overly inflated prices. Am I the only one to feel they are taking advantage of their loyal customers by gouging the initial pricing? With four ships in FL at the same time there will be incredible last minute fare specials to try and fill their ships. I foresee plenty KFO opportunities for the first half of 2013.

I will not be falling into their trap by booking our cruise tomorrow.

I think that is exactly what they are counting on. They know there are many people out there that worship the Mouse and think that Disney can do no wrong and will book with them no matter what. How many people on here have you seen bash all the ther cruise line for no reason other then the fact that they are not DCL? I think they will see a lot less people booking initially and instead they will hold out for *GT rates, whereas if they set initial prices 15% lower they would probably have the ship booked (and stay booked) way in advance of the sail dates.

that to me is the strangest part of all this.

I must say overall the prices dont bother me, being a florida resident I sense ongoing deals over the next several years. I have already taken advantage of one, hope to follow with more.

For the May 2014 cruises, there's a significant difference between the fares for the Magic & Dream. Why would anyone pay to $300 to $400 more to sail on the Dream?

How is this fair to the vast majority of the population who live outside of FL? Must be nice to be able to live inside your bubble.

That's unnecessary.
