I don't know a great deal about it myself, probably best posting on the DVC forums, you will get more help on there.

Iv rented and a member now. Fire away. A few of us on here Lee so feel free to ask on here or uk dvc thread. Xx works out a lot cheaper renting.

My figures were for the exact same time in July and we don't book packages as I can do it myself cheaper.

I still say 17% in one year is too much.

The increases seems to vary by resort quite greatly. I can't quite make any sense of it. I remember in 2009 when I booked our '10 trip I was toying with the idea of Caribbean Beach and for some reason that was more expensive than any of the other mods. Now the Port Orleans are suddenly more and CB is looking like a bargain by comparison. But £1000 for 2 people in a room at a moderate is a steep hike! (I did try using mirror dates of our last trip to see if it was purely down to the time of year but it only saved us £200 going in September vs mid June).

I will have to open my mind and explore the options

Good grief Cindy thats ridiculous

Lol tell me about it!!!
We also may look at renting, but we love the DDP so will have to factor in the cost of that for 21 night when looking at prices for rent!
I think the DDP came out at around £3500 odd plus £1800 in tickets leaves us with £2700 odd in accomadation prices if we was to rent, so when you look at it that way and realise the DDP is ment to be free 21 nights for £6237 in may or £5628 in September for only the accomadation is Insane!!!!
That's around £2000 a week!

So many factors to consider, every family will have a different view. I am just in the middle of booking our hotel for August offsite, costing me £32/nt incl breakfast, Wifi, parking & lots more. Food costs us approx £60/day so we will be paying about £90/nt, again my table below, upto 2012 at £118/nt it was worth staying at OKW, this year at £147 was too high for me, next year way too high at £160.
I have really enjoyed doing DDP for the past years but last year I found myself getting wound up with the prices, auto 18% tip, increased menu costs, etc, our meal at Sanaa we bought a starter, a couple of drinks and tips, it came to as much as a complete meal with tips offsite. The costs were so high I couldn't relax and enjoy as much as previous DDP trips. I also think service suffers slightly with parties of 6 or more.

Saying that if you prefer being onsite and doing DDP, have 4 in a room then it can work out a reasonable option, thankfully we enjoy staying offsite and dining offsite as much.

2009 £80
2010 £87 (9% increase)
2011 £100 (15%)
2012 £118 (18%)
-----------
2013 £147 (25%)
2014 £160 (9%)

I think you're absolutely right, Wayne. It's horse for courses for the most part. I stayed off-site up until 2008 and enjoyed it just fine but once I stayed on-site, the convenience factor for me was pretty decisive. With the disabilities in my family, having the ability to dip in and out of the parks at will is a boon for us.

Other factors that "sell" on-site to us are free parking, EMH and DDP. I think if you're AP holders with a TIW card, then on-site makes no sense whatsoever. I don't think the increases for us have been that significant. In 2008, we stayed at CBR and paid £4800 all in (with tickets and DDP) last year we paid £5400 in P.E. and this year we've paid just shy of £5200 in P.E.

It seems to depend on where you stay and your dates, but for me, the increases year on year haven't been much at all. There is a decline in what you get on the DDP (tips and 3 courses originally) but I don't think I could trade back to off-site unless it was absolutely necessary. That said, even with the DDP we eat off-site as well and we would enjoy an off-site stay.
