2014 MP Hopefuls!!!

You know, there is nothing like driving under the arch, walking into the AKL lobby, and hearing the Living' It Up song to get you out of severe funk.

We've been here three hours and I am already so much better. It's like crack, I tell ya!!!!

:lmao:

Awe, I am so glad! :cool1:

DH and I were reading an article by Jack Spence on Allears, about the statues at DHS, lots of anecdotes about Walt's life, and the thought and care the Imagineers use to create everything. And, I said to my husband "This. This is why I do it." ::yes:: He just put his arm around me, gave a squeeze and kissed my cheek. It really put it in to perspective for me. Even if I never make the Panel, it could never diminish my love for Disney.

I'm so sorry to hear that. :( Cancer is one thing I unfortunately know all too well with family members. It never ever gets easier to hear that someone has it or that it's returned. Sending good thoughts to your grandmother and family for a happy and positive outcome!

As far as my 'secret' goes...lol...here is the short version:

I started listening to podcasts a couple of years ago, and once I made it to Round 3 I thought it would be an amazing idea to do a Moms Panel Podcast. I'm sure they receive thousands of questions, many that they aren't able to answer because they just can't get to all of them. Also, I'm not sure if any of you have asked a question of the panel before, but if your question is answered, you get an email notification. My thought was...if 200 people are sending in the same question, only 1 of those persons will get the email notification and the other 199 may just assume their question was never answered and not take the time to do a search on the website to see if someone else has asked that same question. I was thinking that a podcast could reach all of those 200 people at once and answer that same question they all had.

So... instead of waiting until I get onto the panel (if that ever happens), I would like to start an Unofficial Moms Panel (rejects but not really) Podcast. It would include probably 4 people who have gone through this process but not made it yet, helping as many people as possible by answering the most frequently asked questions about WDW.

If anyone is interested in doing this with me you would need a computer with Skype and a headset with a microphone or a separate microphone and earphones. I do have experience podcasting and DH already said he would do the editing for us. It might take awhile to get going on iTunes, but I think eventually we could help a lot of people with trip planning. And who knows??? Maybe it will catch the attention of the powers that be and we could become the OFFICIAL Disney Moms Panel Podcast!

I'd love to have either 2 women and 2 men or at least 1 guy on it so that we can have different perspectives. I was thinking the first 3 episodes would be explaining what the Moms Panel is, going through the process as well as our Disney story and why we want to help people plan their vacations. Then after that, we can scour the web, message boards, etc for the most frequently asked Disney questions and answer about 5 each week. We could also set up an email address so that anyone who wanted to email a question could send us one.

If anyone is interested in doing this crazy thing with me, please let me know! Recording would probably take about 1 hour each week and we could set it on a day and time that works for whoever is involved.

Is this crazy?

Maybe it is.. but I've thought it would be a great idea for a long time, and I don't want to wait until I make the panel to suggest it.

I looked on iTunes, and there are a lot of Disney podcasts. BUT I haven't seen one that is dedicated to explaining the Moms Panel process and just answering questions, so I think we would be unique. What do you think? Am I nuts?

I would also be willing to help if you need it. Can offer advice on WDW, runDisney, DVC, DCL and DLR. Best of luck with it!!

You forgot to blow out the torches!

I couldn't think of a way to type "Phoof". Forgot a "thousands and" in there as well - I blame the lack of coffee earlier today.

We have the Illuminations CD, and I actually cannot start it without doing the whole "Good evening, and welcome" speech. :thumbsup2

Yay!! Thank you all SO much for the kind words and interest!! Today has been busy, but I'll send PMs to those of you who said you'd be interested in actually being on the podcast so we can exchange emails and start the ball rolling. I was thinking we could start recording right away as I have DH figure out what we need to actually get it onto iTunes. (he's good with the technical stuff) :-) I'll write an outline of things we'll talk about on the first episode and also come up with a schedule of following ones so that everyone knows what we're talking about lol. Excited!!:cool1:

Hey there. You're idea us awesome and you should go for it!!! If you need any rundisney people I'd love to help. I have wdw expertise too. Oh and a little dl as well but will probably have more this spring after our trip. You can pm me or tweet me (twitter is prob faster as I check that more often).

I'm gonna drop off the radar for a bit and heal my wounds. I'm having a harder time with this than I thought i would. After five years of applying and finally making it to round two, I feel like I blew my one and only chance. It's hard to explain to my family (especially the kids since they were in the video) why I didn't make it.... Bcuz honestly I just don't know why. That's the problem with this process you don't know why you weren't picked and therefore don't know what to do differently for next year..... Alright enough complaining. Have a great day all

good morning! :) I was up way to early! Everyone else in my house sleeps in on the weekend, and I am up! :worried:

Probably because of the really weird dream I had::yes::I was running on the path around the lake at CBR, and I was listening to my iPod - to a Pink Floyd song - "On the Turning Away". Hmmm... I have NO idea what that was about!:confused3 I haven't heard that song in years. No one has mentioned Pink Floyd. And even though CBR is one of my favorite resorts, I have NEVER gone running there! :lmao:

I would love to run at WDW though! I would need to train like crazy though. I don't know where to begin! I would love to set that as a goal for next Fall. I could use some advice!

Have a great day everyone!:) I will check in frequently today, because today is "vegetate day". Although, we are thinking about seeing Wreck it Ralph :thumbsup2

We are seriously having the best morning ever at the MK. There are so few people here, it's great.

It is making me glad that I didn't move on because I can enjoy myself instead of stressing out.

Enjoy your day at Magic Kingdom! Almost wish I was there myself. Of course, if I was, I wouldn't be having a lovely Saturday of college football watching with my family.

In any case, ride Splash for me, please!

We are looking at temps in the 80s here. I mean, really, how is that possible? It is November and we have yet to experience fall weather. Disappointing as I absolutely love the fall and winter. I guess I live in the wrong state for that, though. Getting ready to make my family our big Saturday morning breakfast. Probably pancakes (3 to make Mickeys, of course), eggs, and sausage. I keep telling DH we need a Mickey waffle iron. He's never had breakfast at any of the sit-down restaurants and Disney, but will this December. I'm hoping that convinces him.

I am not a runner either but I have a lot of friends that have started running and now love it because of the couch 2 5k program. You can google it. They have a phone app :)

I love running and highly recommend couch to 5k. If you're less technically inclined, you can print it off from http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
And just post it on your fridge as you go.

You beat me to the recommendation. :thumbsup2

Quick (pre-coffee) notes on running: make sure you get the right shoes. The rest of the stuff is important (tech, or wicking materials are far superior to cotton), but bad shoes can hurt you, whereas a cotton shirt is just going to get heavy, nasty, and may chafe. Go to a running store - not a store that sells running shoes, but a store that specializes in running.

You may also want to check out anything written by John "the Penguin" Bingham. "No Need for Speed" and "The Courage to Start" are both good.

When I first started running I used the Couch to 5k app. They also have different distances as you progress (ie 10k, 1/2 Marathon, Full, etc.)

Hi Everybody! I'm SO glad there is so much interest in the podcast!!! DH is working on getting the right software to actually record it and also what we need to do to get it on iTunes. Things have been busy the past couple of days since I've been feeling better and have felt the need to put the house back in order. LOL I WILL be emailing all of you who are interested by Monday about the details.

I was thinking about what we could call the podcast and here are a couple of ideas:

The Unofficial WDW Moms Panel Podcast

WDW Moms Panel Training Podcast

Of Mice and Moms - Your WDW Questions Answered Podcast

Any other ideas? I don't think we can use the word Disney in the name.

Hey all! We are on our drive now. I am really hoping that seeing the WDW sign will help me.
If I don't have a chance to check in this weekend, I hope you all have a good one!

LUCKY DOG, hope your enjoying yourself at AKV! Have a great stay! Ericka Murphy is also there, at MK today!:wizard:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend, thus far. Beautiful day here in Louisiana, yard work to do, then LSU game tonight.#GeauxTigers:)

I like Of Mice and Moms You WDW and DLR Questions answered as DL is my home park....I think if we use the words MP in the title it might be confusing to some and we don't want to overstep .....just throwing that out there as food for thought

That's GREAT! That way, it wouldn't interfere with the name "Mom's Panel" people might get confused & think incorrectly...Some people don't pay attention.

PERFECT NAME:
Of Mice and Moms - Your WDW Questions Answered Podcast

Mouskemommies

Ears Mommies (Kind of a play off of "here's Johnny")
