I was wondering if this is any ones first 1/2 marathon. I am doing this solo and it will be my first 1/2 marathon. I did tower of terror a few years ago and loved the night race, that was my first long race.
I need to start training because I am not a runner and have weight to lose.
I just hope it is not cold the morning of the race, I did tink 10 k this past January and it was so cold.
Congrats on your first 1/2 marathon!!!! It is not my first, but I will be solo (as usual), and can share that amongst the sea of Disney-loving runners, I never have felt alone.
I hate being cold. I get cold very easily. I used to dread the time waiting for a race to start, with teeth chattering. I was miserable. But no longer:
What works for me, even in Florida, even if it is around 70 degrees in the early morning, is all or most of the following:
shorts and tank or short sleeve top,
long compression socks,
knit hat
knit gloves
extra large plastic trash bag (not opened up) worn tight around shoulders and tied in front, like a shawl... better said, like a cape!
hand warmers in gloves, under hat, against chest, and against back
All of these items can be shed, from the plastic bag right before race start, to the rest of the items as I warm up. I used to bring 'throw away' sweats but they took up too much room in the suitcase when running multiple races. My current items are relatively low volume in comparison.
