Just finished that list.:thumbsup2 Managed to clean out my dresser earlier, but, as I thought, no sweaters that I don't wear. I had done that when I changed over my wardrobe to the winter stuff.

Peter Walsh's tasks are found on his facebook page. I'll try hard to post them each day, but who knows what will happen when I go back to work on Monday. :cutie: I'll do my best, though.

Today I made my 12 Month Destash List and also completed the dining room. Yes, it was the easiest room to do so I did that first but only 11 more rooms to go. A good start.

Thanks for posting the tips each day!

Gotta get back into this in 2014. Started good last year but got off track. So far I managed to clean out/sort one of my closets with all my kitchen gadgets/etc. Tossed one bag of trash from the bathroom cabinet (but there's more), & went thru some of my old jar candles that were taking up space. I actually melted the wax down and poured it into an old ice cube tray to make wax melts for my warmers or for girl scout projects. They take up less room & I don't feel as bad about wasting money. We'll see if I get anything done today with the snow day.

I cleared out my junk paperwork drawer yesterday. The family is gone for the weekend and I plan to get some projects completed while they're gone. I have to run some errands today but then plan to stay in all weekend. The weather will be single digits and below so it's a good time to hibernate!

I got my night stand, dresser, and my side of the closet cleaned out last night. I couldn't beleive I filled a garbage bag. I am going to begin working in the basement this weekend. Hopefully I can get DH to get his side of the closet cleaned up this weekend as well.

I cleaned out under the bathroom sink this morning. Just threw away one bottle of empty mouthwash, I hate it when the kids do that. But it's nice and organized now.

I need to go plow out the driveway, but I'm putting it off.

So apparently Peter Walsh isn't posting until 10am Pacific Time. That stinks, my day is 1/2 over by that point. I may just work a day in arrears and do what ever today is, tomorrow.

Do you have any idea just how much I do NOT want to clean under my bed?! But I'm on such a roll.....I guess I need to suck it up.

I had a productive day so far and hopefully DS takes a decent nap as I want to work out for a half hour and then do some more stuff... and I don't have any laundry to do today :cool1:

So far today:
-cleaned out my desk and organized it
-all thank you notes for Christmas are done except for 2 (but they still need addressed, stamped, and mailed)
-Christmas cards sorted and trashed or recycled

We have 2 bookshelves in our basement. Before Christmas I worked on them for a while, my goal is to get us down to just one (they are cheap walmart shelves that I would like to trash) There were 2 shelves of books/movies to sell/donate and now there are just 1 - an empty shelf  I now have 2 boxes ready for Goodwill but know I will have more so I'm going to wait until next week to take the first load of the year

DH is working on getting the tree down now, but he leaves for work in 10 minutes so I don't think it's all getting done today, boo

Thanks for posting the Peter Walsh of the day. I don't have facebook. I guess I'll hit under my bed after DSs nap. I'm afraid to know what is under there!

I've been straightening up around my room & rearranging things that aren't quite looking right (rearranging some shelves that just had books stacked up & wasn't looking so great).

Now I'm at the point I'm just looking around in circles to see what needs to be next... Whatever it is, it'll be a project that has to be all pulled out & then put back together. May need some more coffee...

Still need to take the Christmas tree down... I worked 7-3 yesterday and DH worked 3-11 so it didn't happen. It is something that has to be done while DS is sleeping because of the ornaments and hooks not being baby friendly. Hopefully tomorrow during nap time.

For January I'm working on "home office" stuff. I don't know why it just feels like a good place to start every year! Here are my goals for the month...

finish Christmas thank you notes and mail (2 left - need addressed, stamped, and mailed)
shred everything in shred bin
clean/organize/declutter desk (done)
clean/organize/declutter all the "office stuff" in the basement - done
sort through the filing cabinet - purge/shred/organize and label folders done
sort through fire safe box done

sort through Christmas cards - trash/recycle (done)

The goal to to work on this a little at a time each day this month. If I get done before the end of January, start the next project (kitchen) not sure what the next one will be yet :)

Today I didn't get much accomplished. I did go through a small plastic drawer with receipts in it and threw a bunch away. I also have a box for Goodwill and hope to add some more to it and get it out next week.

Had a productive nap! DS stirred once at the one hour mark before I started anything but luckily went back to sleep. Went through the fire safe box, the filing cabinet, and all the "office" stuff in the basement. Added more books to the goodwill box. Mostly stuff that I have had listed on half dot com and amazon to sell for years. It's going! Down to just under a shelf of books/movies to sell but they are all brand new so I'm going to try to sell this this year. Hoping to get them listed now while I'm at the computer.

I eliminated an entire box of stuff from the basement. :cool1: I also broke some empty cardboard boxes down for DH to recycle.

I have 6 college degrees. They were just sitting on top of the bookshelf in the basement collecting dust, so I took all of them except my most recent out of the bulky holders and filed them in the filing cabinet with other certificates. Need to frame that one and put it on the wall next to DH's college degree!

How long are you supposed to keep tax returns? I have them all the way back to 2002...

Hope everyone else is having a productive day! DS just woke up so hoping he will "help" me clean out under the bed.

That made me laugh! I feel the same about our basement. I tried to do a little bit down there today. I finally just came up, shut the door and promised myself I will tackle it tomorrow.

There is not much under our bed except a mirror to a dresser. I guess I can check to see if anything fell under there. I am still missing my favorite nail polish and have searched all the usual spots.

I cleaned a little bit of the garage and tossed the trash out of my van. When out running errands, I bought a shoe organizer because the one I have is not big enough. I think I can finish that project tonight. I am holding off on my clothes because I really want to lose weight this year then do a big purge. I guess I can put the stuff that doesn't fit into my hope chest and clear out some space. Ok, on for tonight as well.

I will also be prepping for the basement by ironing the now clean curtains and washing the blankets that the kids use down there.

Peter Walsh Day 3. Cleaning under the bed of the master bedroom January Cure (for the weekend): Buy flowers for the home and a thorough vacuum and wash of all floors.

Already did that. We bought a new bed a few months ago and the mattress lifts up for storage. It's all organized.

Thanks for posting the Peter Walsh of the day. I don't have facebook. I guess I'll hit under my bed after DSs nap. I'm afraid to know what is under there!

I don't have Facebook either but his page is open so if you just google Peter Walsh Facebook, his page will come up.

Im in!! We just moved from a 2900 sf house to 990 sf house. When we moved it allgot boxed up and shoved in storage. So far this year we have bagged up 3 HUGE garbage bags full of clothes and took them to goodwill. Also got rid of a bunch of stuff that wasn't ours that we were storing for a friend. It felt good giving her stuff to her instead of us dealing with it!! My goal for the weekend it to organize our bedroom and my office corner! Its a pit!

I still need to sort my bin for the day, I just can't decide which one to go through.
Lacking motivation today

Thanks for the inspiration! I started reading this thread and I jumped up on page two and decluttered two of my kitchen drawers! My husband was a little surprised. But I also used some little bowls and tupperware containers that were clogging up that drawer to be even more organized. I was so happy with my 1 hours work I told my DH "Hey come look at my drawers!"
