I was wondering if anyone knew the answers to these questions....

Hmm.... Are these showers outdoors, like we can't be all 'nekked' when we are taking said shower?? (Because, like most people, I like to be 'nekked' when I am taking my shower...) Could you please tell us where these pool showers are? is there a private area outside of the shower stall where you can get changed or are you trying to get dressed in the wet stall?

This sounds like a downgrade... There would be no lockers to store your stuff when you are taking a shower in the pool area... correct? We know that the rusted out, dysfunctional/broken lockers near Hurricane Hannah's are not a workable option, especially since supply is limited, demand is high and the fact that many of the lockers won't open/lock further complicates matters.

What about people working out at the fitness center? Are they allowed the use of those facilities or are they expected to walk out of the fitness center and find a bathroom elsewhere?

To me this sounds like a letter needs to be written to:

Mim Flynn, General Manager
Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
1800 EPCOT Resort Boulevard
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

It might be helpful if people let her know that this is not a workable option for them. If I wanted to vacation like a refugee and shower in a concrete bunker while I kept the curtain open so I could keep my eye on my unattended belongings I would book at Port Orleans Riverside and shower at the pool there. That is the sort of experience we are being asked to have now that the HOTEL LOCKER ROOMS are NOT AVAILABLE to hotel GUESTS.

Where is the logic in that decision?

~NM
PS Teena knows I love her so don't think this is directed at her in any way. If this is something that you think is a problem for your stay please take the time to write a brief letter and drop it in the mail to the hotel manager listed above.

STANDING OVATION!

Showers are the showers outside that you use to rinse off after getting in or out of the pool WITH YOUR BATHING SUIT STILL ON.

I was told no showers and lockers for "working out" in the gym. That they are only for people having spa services like massages (so I assume it meant paying services).

As far as no use of lockers, you can have bell services keep your bags for you.

I'm thinking that in a symbolic protest, at the August Beach Club/Yacht Club/BCV Dis meet, we all gather around this outdoor shower, strip off our suits and lather up in protest at the lack of locker room access. I'm starting a sign up sheet below. There is no need to add your name as I will take the trouble to put you in myself.

This should let management know that A) We definitely need the use of those locker rooms and B) We are middle aged and droopy which is not an attractive combination at a deluxe resort pool.

With glowering hearts we seethe and cry
Locker room access should be free!
From far and wide,
O Janitor, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our locker glorious and free!
O Janitor, we stand on guard for thee.

years ago I saw a mother and her children strip "nekkid" at those outside showers :scared::scared: .

Given the time you've taken to craft the new lyrics, of course I'll lead the song. It would make sense for a Canadian to lead since we get free lockers and showers up here, along with our free health care.

And I'm so happy to see that you've added Nannette, Couchy and Feckless to our meet. Now that it is in writing they have to join us.

Also wanted to say I love your tag about Football Season. I hate the times of the year when there are no games! My oldest son continues to watch the NFL channel every day of the year.

::yes::

Love the NFL network! I think my DH thought it was a bit unatural how excited I got when it was finally added to our cable company... hee hee..

Hi again. Another Great day at the BCV. We got up super early today for breakfast at Cinderella's castle. We were on the bus headed to Magic Kingdom at 7:10. The bus was there waiting when we came out and I timed it and it was exactly 12 minutes to MK. We had a great day. Being there early is a definite must! We did a ton of rides in the first 2 hours. Then fast pass in the afternoon. We went to Liberty Tavern for dinner. It was great. I am not doing the dinning plan but I am keeping all of my receipts and I will let you know how it works out. My DS is ten and it felt like highway robbery to have to play for an adult meal plan. I have twice asked (sci-fi diner and today) for kids meals for him and not had a problem. I almost feel like they need a " tween" plan or something, ten seems young for an adult meal plan.

After a busy day in the park we were back in SAB for 2 hours during which time DS lost his magic band in the pool! Of course because we are from Canada they are the grey ones and on the grey sand in the dark we weren't finding it. Off to guest services/check-in and they gave us another one right away. I thought they might make me wait to see if someone turned it in later but nope. Easy as pie!

One thing else wonderful about BC I wanted to mention was the in-lobby photo pass station. I have memory maker and two things (Jedi training and enchanted tales with belle) they take photos of the session then you pick the ones you want (presumably of your own kid!) and sync it to memory maker. It is so nice to have that service right in the lobby.

And my final praise for BC today is mouse keeping! Another great towel animal today and twice since we got here we have called once for pillows and then last night my DD decided to hog the blanket on her brother so we called for blankets, both times within minutes they were at our door with what we requested!

I definitely love this place and today my DD said "we get to come back here right?" We think alike!

Lots of spa shower drama on the board here, I will ask tomorrow and bring you any insight!

oh my:rotfl:

But i agree. A deluxe hotel and no where to store stuff, take a proper shower and change. Not cool

Thanks for the update on the early morning bus. We need to be at MK no later than 8:15am for our Keys to the Kingdom tour, and it is nice to know that there really is an early morning bus. ;)

Hi everyone! :wave2: My DF and I are staying at the Yacht Club for the first time on our upcoming Disneymoon this May! Forgive me if this was already discussed, but can anyone say how the YC buses are? Or any other tips for staying at YC? TIA! :teeth:

pages 122-124

I need to make a "to do list" for the things I want to check out when we are there next week:

1. the locker and shower situation
2. teabags in the resort rooms and at the Marketplace
3. the general condition of the BC - how the resort looks - run down or not
4. we are daring to try the DTD bus :scared1: - I'll report my experience

Is there anything else to add? :)

Thank you so much for offering to scope things out! I will let you know if I think of anything else.

Have you started playing the "At This Time Next Week..." Game?

:cool1:

I save everything! It was Room 5154 - Club Level, Garden View, with daybed. I'm not sure if the pictures are in that forum. Is that the forum I started *under a different name* years ago? If not, link me up! I can also send you those photos and a few of the room, itself, if you'd like.

This is a thread I started where people can post pictures of the views and brief descriptions from various rooms at the Yacht Club. I have it indexed by view category, so that people can see samples of views from various categories.

I also have threads for the Beach Club and recently started one for BCV.

Another poster has provided pictures for 5154, but if you would like to add yours, or any others, that would be great!

Shame about the lockers, when DH and I had a late flight we were allowed to use the WL gym showers and lockers it was perfect.

Dee can you pop CL back onto our be our guest listing? Lol thank you

Will do!

:)

Hi everyone! Boy has our original booked plans for our stay changed!

Originally we were staying 7 nights YC CL, DDP, Aug 17-24.
Then changed to 7 nights YC, DxDDP, Aug. 17-24.
Now it is 6 nights YC, DxDDP, June 1-7 and 1 night YC, room only June 7.

I know there is no guarantee to stay in the same room, which drives DH nuts, LOL. I was thinking about surprising him with an upgrade our last night to CL. We fly out late on June 8, and have no dining plan on the last day so breakfast would be covered the last two mornings right? Since we would have access to the CL lounge on the morning we "check-in"? Plus it would make the hanging out at the resort more comfy on that last evening, plus some free snacks and booze. LOL

What do you think? Is it worth the extra $100 for only one night? I would surprise DH with it by telling him that they couldn't keep us in the same room and we have to move, before telling him it is to CL. Is that mean?

That would certainly soften the blow of having to move rooms! Like you said, having breakfast on those two days would be nice. If you will be spending some resort time before your flight, the lounge is a good place to hang out since you will no longer have a room. My family chilled out in the lounge playing cards while I went for a swim on our last afternoon during our July trip.

:thumbsup2

Can anyone tell me when the pool closes ? I am thinking of staying here in Sept and wanted to know what time Stormalong Bay closes there are nights all parks are closed at 8 or 9 PM and I was wondeirng if we could get a swim in at night ?? :confused3

:welcome: to the thread!

See below-

The recreation department decides on the hours. It usually changes whenever occupancy changes a lot. However, although SAB is only open certain hours, the quiet pools are open for you whenever you want to jump in.

SAB always opens at 10 am, but as Teena points out, the closing time is at the discretion of the pool managers based on weather, crowd levels, etc. I think the closing time can change even from day to day during the same week, but I'm not positive.

Great song, BTW!

Thanks for the update on the early morning bus. We need to be at MK no later than 8:15am for our Keys to the Kingdom tour, and it is nice to know that there really is an early morning bus. ;)

I would suggest that you get out to the bus stop for the early bus, and if you don't get one by the time you need it, you can get a cab to the Contemporary and walk from there. I would think that if you caught a cab by 7:30, you would be ok with a 15 minute ride, 15 minute walk.

Enjoy the tour!

:woohoo:

:welcome: and congratulations!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 (Post 15) of this thread.

One of the best things about the YC and BC is that you only need to take buses to AK and MK (and DTD/Waterparks). You walk to EPCOT and take a boat, or walk, to HS.

I have always been happy with the bus service from BC.

For hints and tips, I suggest you start with Post 13 (FAQ) and Post 14 (Other Useful Info) on Page 1 of this thread. Then let us know if we can answer any questions for you.

:yay:

Most of the time the bus only shares with the BC. It will pick up at the YC first, then go to the BC, then the park. The YC is very convenient to the boat and to the Boardwalk. There is a staircase that opens very close to the walkway around the lake, making it a great shortcut when trying to go anywhere except the bus.

Thank you so much for offering to scope things out! I will let you know if I think of anything else.

One week from today we will be on the airplane, jetting our way to the warm Florida sun and away from this cold, snowy winter. :beach:

Another snow day here, I think we've used an unprecedented 7 or 8??? Unfortunately for my son they have to do homework blizzard bags to somehow count as a school day, but at least they don't have to make it up in the summer. Fortunately for me, I'm on spring break so I get to stay home with him today yay!!

Speaking of which, there is some buzz about a visa discount for this upcoming summer... has anyone confirmed the sale?

Thanks!

3. the general condition of the BC - how the resort looks - run down or not
4. we are daring to try the DTD bus - I'll report my experience
5. if there are any "to go" cups available for tea, etc, in the room or other place
6. pool hours at SAB

Is there anything else to add? :)
