Just catching up. We have been several days without power and just up and running. If you saw any pictures from Carroll County Maryland that would be us. 4/2 can't come soon enough!! This horrible MidAtlantic/Northeast weather is killing us.

Teena, hope the meds are kicking in and you are feeling a little better.

I just wanted to commiserate with you on the weather! The Chicago area has been an absolute nightmare, but we've been lucky in that we haven't lost power (yet, knock on wood).

I think that can be said for most of the country!! I know multiple storms every week is getting really old for me!! People are counting down till spring, but I think I'm just gonna skip spring and count down to summer... come on SUMMER!!

I hope the dry weather helps you, but I know just being with the girls will be amazing medicine!!

SUMMER! SUMMER! SUMMER! My new chant!:cool1:

I had a really scarey dream last night. I didn't want to go to Disney. I think I must be coming down with something. :scared:

That is a very scary dream....:rotfl2:

Just got back. It's pneumonia. I'm loaded with prescriptions and need to rest for the next few days. So sorry I'm going to miss all the Disers there at the Y&B tomorrow and Monday. Was really looking forward to seeing some friends!!!

Oh goodness! I am hoping you are feeling better by now Teena!:flower3:

i'm back! I have lurked along the way, but I finally get to add a new ticker to my sig!
We will be in Miami for 3 weeks and will drive up to WDW for June 23-26. This will be our first stay at BC, as we switched to a 2 BR suite at Dolphin. It will also be my first time driving in! :drive:
I am bringing my 3 kids--now all disney adults! and our superfun babysitter. I have booked a Beach Club Deluxe CL room only, and requested a ground floor. Now the fun part- to plan all our exciting adventures.
We are more of a water park/character meal/parade family---leaving the roller coasters to other folks. It will be our first trip with Magic Bands and FP +, so I m doing a crash course on what to expect!:surfweb:
Any suggestions or ideas for our trip are welcomed!

Get well soon Teena--hopefully the antibiotics are helping you to feel better quickly!

So exciting!!!!:thumbsup2

Update: Still wheezing like crazy, cough is a tad better. Tomorrow I go back to clinic to pick up x-rays. I have appointment on Thursday with Lung Specialist.

So when we last left off there was debate about restraining orders and whether Buzzy was going to be locked in the room to sleep it off while Nannette and I went out for breakfast the next morning. Although we tried to keep very quiet while we got ready, Buzzy did manage to wake up just before we snuck out the door. He did a quick comb over of his tentacles or what ever they are called, and flew screaming toward the car yelling "Shot Gun" for our breakfast trip over to Kouzzina.

Nanette and I were dreading breakfast as this was a table service restaurant and Buzzy is not known for his manners when visiting these types of establishments. He's the type of fly who has no boundaries and he thinks nothing of table hopping to chat and sample food from other guest's plates. We once saw a women swat so vigorously at him that most people thought she was having convulsions, but we knew it was just Buzzy paying her an unwanted visit. Knowing all of this ahead of time we planned on trying to divert Buzzy's attention, much like a toddler, and keep him occupied with the sugar packets. We also thought it prudent to request to be seated outside to keep down the potential number of Buzzy victims who were eating inside the restaurant.

Imagine our shock when it turned out that Buzzy was not the most misbehaving guest at breakfast! Unbeknownst to us he had invited a flock of foul mannered grackles to crash breakfast.

Upon seeing Buzzy arrive, the guests sitting next to us quickly left their table, abandoning the sad remains of their meal in a effort to avoid 'kisses from Buzzy'. Seeing this, Buzzy gave the all clear signal and in swooped a gaggle of grackles! They made a bee line for the butter and jelly and their table manners were just as bad as Buzzy's. Nannette and I enjoyed watching one grackle pig out on so much butter his beak was covered in it. Jelly was another bird favorite and tug of wars ensued over the jelly containers. Somewhere on the roof of one of the Boardwalk buildings there must be cases and cases of empty jelly containers from these bird burglaries.

Eventually the wait staff at the restaurant came out and cleared the table, but not before the wild life picked it clean. The staff carefully set the table for the next guests and went back inside, leaving the table unattended. Nannette and I enjoyed another show as the birds swooped back down to the table and started stealing, of all things, the DIET sweetener packets of Splenda. We quickly decided that these were the dumbest birds in all of Disney but Buzzy reasoned that with all that butter in their diets they had to make cutbacks somewhere....

After our delicious breakfast at Kouzinna we decided to walk it off with a trip around the International Showcase. Buzzy had eaten too much and he was whining loudly about Nan and I renting a stroller and pushing him around Epcot. We offered to rent him a locker instead with the promise that maybe we would let him out, maybe we would forget, especially if he didn't stop complaining.

As we passed Germany Buzzy said he was getting thirsty and he wanted to stop for a drink. We were hoping he meant a diet soda but he proceeded directly for the Jägermeister cart and helped himself, uninvited, to every bottle and tap, much to the consternation of the Fräulein working the cart. She took a swing at him with her "Pretzel of death" but sadly she missed and he lived to see another day.

We managed to get all the way to Future World when Nannette and I decided to play a trick on Buzzy. We lured him into "Club Cool" with the promise that he could drown his sorrows in the latest Apéritif from Italy. Having never partaken, he fell for it and I captured his Beverly face in this shot.

If you look closely (VERY closely) you can see his little labella twisted up in a sour knot. As Nelson from the Simpson's says:

Picture0003.jpg

We next made our way around the World Showcase and Buzzy insisted on stopping at the DVC kiosk and trying to hit them up for some freebies. As luck would have it they were having a member reception that night so Buzzy, knowing that there would be food and drink involved, tried to act like he was a member so he could pry the location and start time out of the CM. Nannette was frantically waving the CM off so that he wouldn't spill the beans to our party crashing fly. Eventually the CM caught on and told Buzzy that the DVC event was being held at Universal that night. None the wiser, Buzzy said that he would be there and suddenly Nannette and I got the happy feeling that we might be free of him later on in the evening.

By now Buzzy was starting to get tired so we tried to talk him into going back to "Club Cool" for more Beverly but he opted for a refreshing iced coffee. Unfortunately he became enamored with the honey bear and insisted on having half a bottle poured into his cup.

12449713254_5d49ab853a.jpg

This proved to be quite the mistake as Buzzy, who was now amped up on buckets of caffeinated honey, INSISTED on visiting all of his friends at the Beach Club. Nannette and I looked at each other warily thinking that this was not the time to let Buzzy loose on the resort but we DID want to see Teena and we didn't know if we would get the chance again. Reluctantly we turned toward the Beach Club, hoping that Teena would bail two out of three of us out of jail if things turned ugly.....

Tune in later for the next installment Of Buzzy the Fly's trip with Nannette and Ninja Mom. Will this be the end of the road for dear old Buzzy or just the end of the road for this trip report?? Only time will tell....

Feel Better Teena! I know that I haven't had a chance to meet you or really talk with you yet on this board but I'm just wishing you well and hoping that the lung specialist has good advice/news for you!:flower3:

I should -finally- add myself here. I've been lurking for a couple of months since I booked in a stay for 2-12 December :-D my first time at BCV. It's just me traveling, and as much as I would love a washer / dryer and spa in the room, I couldn't justify the extra cost of a 1 bedroom, so booked a studio.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting now is that I've read so many posts of people dealing with crazy winter weather and all pining for summer...well, on the opposite side of the world (Australia) we're having the opposite problem. Heatwave after heatwave. We had a week of almost 45 degrees Celsius everyday about a month ago, and have had very few days of it much lower than 35, and I live in one of the cooler parts of the country. We also just had another round of serious bushfires over this last weekend (only properties lost, thankfully). So yeah...for those looking forward to summer, hang in there because the next one is probably going to be a scorcher! :) if you want to see some more crazy weather (that's also Disney related) check out the Tokyo part of the boards. Someone has posted a stack of amazing photos of the resorts covered in snow.

Back to the subject of BC, I'm sure I'll have some questions later on (probably just about the laundry situation and room locations). I'm trying not to get too far ahead of myself, the trip is still a long way away lol but I had thought it might be fun to bring some Aussie treats for the staff (Tim Tams? Caramello koalas?) would it be ok to do that?

Yeah! Firefly and welcome!

We added a day to our trip.:cool1:
But we have decided to switch resorts since there is no GV or SV available at the YC.

We are now staying at BWI SV 7/25-8/2.:goodvibes

Good Morning - I have not posted on here yet, just gathered all the information I could and thank you! Leaving from Syracuse for the Beach Club - Club Level tomorrow for 10 nights! Can't wait...

My question was how many CM are in the lounge - wanted to bring a few gifts for them for Valentine's Day..

thanks so much - if you have any questions while I am there, do not hesitate to ask.

Teena: So sorry you are feeling so bad. Hope you get back on your feet soon!!!

Just back from another great stay at the YC.

Arrived at 1015 on the 5th and was in the room by 1025.

Had booked lagoon view and requested boardwal view close to elevators. Was in 3163 which was perfect!

Down a short quiet hall, corner room with balcony facing boardwalk dead center between marina and lighthouse. 2 double side windows overlooking gazebo too.

So, I've been calling in regularly just to see if a Standard CL room opens up during our dates (I know, fat chance, but it doesn't hurt to try!). I also realized I needed to add tickets to get the additional day free on the promo I booked under (the spring stay and play).

Of course no CL rooms, yet, and the CMs have said I can just upgrade my package to MYW whenever.

Well, today I called in, and again, no CL, but then the CM told me that she couldn't upgrade my package to add tickets, even though I was booked under the promo. So, she looked at other hotels and told me I could switch to YC, same date, lagoon view for only $100 more total (I specifically asked is that per night b/c that sounds low and she said it was only about $15 more a night) and I could do the package. So I said, well, that sounds great, let's do it. The total comes in about $500 higher than she quoted. :scared:

I asked her to go back and go through allllll the numbers again with me. Thank goodness she didn't cancel my BC ressie b/c I said I don't want to spend $500 to save $50 (I know CL is more, but that has perks; I dont NEED a lagoon view, this time).

So, after an hour phone call, I ended up back at square one! :rotfl2:

I'm worried about this whole having to purchase tickets separately thing with fastpass+ but I'm sure we'll get it figured out. :thumbsup2

I know I'm new to the thread, but Teena I'm wishing you a speedy recovery! Get plenty of rest!! I hope you feel better soon!

We kinda did the same thing. We booked room only when the Disney Visa discount was released. We have 5 rooms and I take care of all the "stuff" so decided this year I wanted a package instead of tix thru UT. I called back a week later after the discount was released to the public, got thru changing the 3rd room and the CM said uh oh there aren't anymore packages available so had to leave the last 2 rooms room only. CM said to call back and worst case we can buy tix thru them but have to pay for them upfront to keep the room only discount. I called them every few days for 2 weeks and eventually I was able to get the last 2 changed to the package. I would keep calling, especially as it gets closer to the day packages have to be paid for. Although 45 days out doesn't help booking FP+ at 60. :confused3 Good luck!

Hi, can someone let me know what the hours are for the boat transportation? My understanding is the bus runs 1 hour prior to park opening and 1 hour after park close, is the water transportation the same?

Also, Is there a minimum height requirement for the jib slide? I don't see one posted, but wanted to be sure. Thx!!

Have you checked out Undercover Tourist for tickets. I've done it a few times the last being September 2013 and I had no issues at all with the fastpass+ I was able to add the pass to MDE and make all the selections with no problems at all. If you join Mousesavers.com you can get add'l savings on the tickets.

~N

I second the vote for UCT for tickets. Once our dear Nannette told me how to link them to MDE, it worked just fine. We used the Mousesavers Link for further savings. Keep in mind that the prices posted for UCT include taxes but the ones posted on the Disney website are without taxes added.

I was out for supper with the mom of the family we traveled with last year this past weekend, along with our two DDs. Must planning ensued. LOL. The girls want to head back after they turn 14 (other DD in October, my DD in December) so they can go to the parks alone together. :) Um, OK!!! LOL We will see... We have no urge to stay anywhere else, but we will have to start on the Dark Side at the Park that Shall Not Be Named. I was going to end there to make the most out of ME next time we go, but my DD said that she wanted to END at Disney because she wants to end with the best part of the trip. :goodvibes Looks like I might have a convert... LOL

And for those interested, my trip report is well underway and documenting my head injury and my black eye! :rotfl2:

Teena -hope you are starting to feel better. Thinking of you!

Well, here we go again. Bracing for yet another winter storm. Predicted 6-12 inches plus ice. We lost power and one of our trees last time so I'm a little nervous with ANOTHER storm in less than a week.

Good luck to all my Dis friends getting ready for the next storm to hit!

Good luck to you! I live in Central Pennsylvania and we're supposed to get either 2-3 inches or 6-12, depending on the forecast. The last time I remember us having this much snow and ice, rinse and repeat, several sections of one of our bridges broke loose. Hoping the rest of the bridge that's still standing remains where it is.

Feel better, Teena!
