200 days until our Disney vacation :cool1:

I have a quick question not related to the resorts, but for Quick Service. What are some of your favorite places to grab a bit to eat on the go? This is for all over Disney. We usually do TS, but we are going to try to save money with QS. Thank you for your help :)

We find Sunshine Seasons - the food court - at The Land in Epcot to be a good counter service option. It has a lot of variety. :) We also like the pulled pork nachos at Captain Cooke's at the Polynesian. And DH liked his Asian salad there.

I've been wanting to try those pulled pork nachos at Poly, but somehow never got around to it this trip :( 10 days, and somehow never got to it :confused3. No matter how long I stay, it just never seems long enough to do all I want!!!

This is a toughie because Disney has been upping the ante on the Quick service offerings. I definitely agree that you can save time and money by including more quick service offerings in your dining plans while at WDW.

What I would do is go over to that site that has all the ears and check out their menus for each park and resort. They do a good job of keeping the menus updated so you can see what they have to eat.

Here is a link: http://allears.net/din/dining.htm

Right before you posted your query I was entering the web page for this site on my "smert" phone so I can access that info while I am in the parks on the fly.

At MK I LOVE Columbia Harbour house for lunch or dinner.

At Hollywood Studios I like ABC Commissary but not so much for lunch... It's more of a 2 pm in the afternoon or later crash pad with the padded bench seating and TV's all over the place. It can get crowded during the day for lunch or dinner but the "in between the meal times" are great when you just have to sit and rest at a somewhat dark and comfortable place. You can also schlepp your sandwich/meal/ coffee and bun over from Starring rolls or any of the other un-air conditioned counter services and eat in air conditioned comfort!

Epcot has some pretty good offerings in Norway ~ Kringla Bakeri og Cafe. There is the fish and chips stand in England. I like to bring that back to the Beach Club because it is so rip roaring hot that no human being can eat it until about 20 minutes after they hand it to you. Usually I haul that back to the resort and grab a table by the Marketplace or the solarium and it's just the right temperature to enjoy eating.

In Future World in Epcot Dee loves the Roasted Beets and Goat Cheese Salad at Sunshine Seasons but I don't know if they are open for dinner. The Mongolian Beef there is to be avoided at all costs as the meat is very tough and unappetizing. I have one family member that always gets the Mongolian Beef, is always disappointed, goes back the next trip and gets it again AFTER WE WARN HIM NOT TO and is disappointed. Rinse, repeat, rinse repeat. etc, etc.... No matter what we say we can never convince him not to make the same mistake!!!

There is also Boulangerie Patisserie France - World Showcase - Epcot But trying to get seating inside is like a death match game of musical chairs. I think there are places to eat outside so I would have to scope that out and see what I could manage with the family group I was forced to drag around with me.

The ideal thing to do at this lovely location is to ditch your family and wander off here on your own. Maybe you could tell them you had to go to the bathroom for about an hour. When you finally rejoin them be sure to wipe all evidence of your enjoyable solo lunch from your guilty lips! At this place they also serve: Champagne - $12.21
Mimosa - sparkling wine and orange juice $7.50
Bourgogne Blanc - white $6.85
Chardonnay $5.87
Pinot Noir - $7.25
Bordeaux $7.98...... So this is yet another reason to ditch the family and enjoy a solo, peaceful lunch while you get sauced on Mimosa's and chocolate mousse!

As for Animal Kingdom we can't pass up Yak and Yeti Counter Service. It's Chinese food American style and much better than anything they serve in China at Epcot. The "Chinese" food they serve at Lotus Blossom Cafe
China - World Showcase - Epcot has absolutely no redeeming value. 'Nuf said on that one!

Interestingly enough I have yet to EAT at Hurricane Hannah's. The closest I got to eating there was when Buzzy the Fly hooked me up with his Maraschino cherry connection at the bar. They had a table set up for him with the biggest jar (Think warehouse shopping club type jar) of cherries I had ever seen. I think it was just to keep him occupied and away from the other guests but he seems to think he is a celebrity there. The jury is still out on that one if you ask me...

As for Downtown Disney Nannette is fond of Bongo's Cuban cafe (table service!). Rumor has it that Gloria Estefan is back in the kitchen making Anything For You but I think that's just an internet rumor....

So that ends the Ninja Mom Disney Dining wrap up.

Oh... and I really enjoyed my table service breakfast at Kouzinna on the Boardwalk.

So it started out as an awful day when my 5 am flight was cancelled. I flew standby and actually was the last standby allowed on the new flight ! Made it to Orlando the same time the other flight was suppose to land . Phew... Made it

Arrived at BC about 90 minutes ago and as I was walking through the second set of doors about to turn right to go to the check in desk I hear a guy running and saying my name. I turn around and a wonderful CM with an iPad tells me to follow him to check in upstairs!!!!! I said but I only booked a standard view and he said and you have a standard view just on the concierge floor :) can you say pixie dust . DH immediately wanted to add days but I reminded him that we only have a one night stay because BC is totally booked . I will however enjoy my 1 night and 2 days at SAB
So glad you got on a flight. That happened to me once, checking in at airport was fine, got to Toronto to get connection, and board says Cancelled :crazy2: had to fly standby, they told me plane was at gate ready to go and RUN!!!!!
:cool1: for CL upgrade!! Woohoo!

Will send pictures later but here is the update

Yesterday appetizers were chicken skewers and egg rolls, veggies with dip, pb&j, apples and Carmel , and some plated olive tampanade

DH for in at 1 am !!! We checked out after several attempts to extend our stay in any type of room. We get access to the lounge until midnight :)

Checked into the swan . Good news is we were able to snag BC rooms for fri and Sat so we can return to SAB and Rocky's awesome service
Yay for return!! Appies sound yummy!
We were able to get all our ADRs with no problem.

Dinners - Be Our Guest, Narcoossee's, Via Napoli, Ohana, Liberty Tree Tavern,Mama Melrose's FDP, 50's PTC, Beaches and Cream and RFC at DTD.

Lunches - Sci-Fi, Hollywood Brown Derby, Plaza, Le Cellier

Breakfasts - Crystal Palace, Cape May Cafe and Captain's Grille
Yum!! Love those pics! Cobb Salad at Brown Derby is so good!! Rueben at a Plaza, yum! I like it better then the one at Sci Fi!

My fav CS are:

MK- Columbia Harbour House ( salmon is great), Cosmic Ray & Pecos Bill for great toppings bar!! The Plaza although it's a TS, it's as cheap as CS. Also, can't remember the name but right behind the castle is a CS that serves waffle sandwiches!

Epcot- Sunshine Seasons, Mexico CS, France CS

DHS- Studio Catering Co has great Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, and pressed sandwich. Sci Fi is almost as cheap as a CS. Backlot Express had a good veggie pressed sandwich.

AK- Flametree BBQ, & Yak & Yeti CS!

I would go down to the front desk and let them know you are having trouble with it.

Chances are they will not know what is going on but they will know to send someone ON SITE to take a look at it.

What ever you do do not call to report problems. That call just goes to a generic call center and your problem gets put at the end of the list. Take the time to hoof it over to the the front desk AT the resort to tell them about problems and chances are they will do their best to fix it ASAP.

I had a problem with my cable TV while at the resort and it turned out a storm had knocked out a satellite relay. Two Cable guys came (Matthew McComeherehunny and Jonny Dept of satellite TV!). They tracked down the problem and fixed it.

Every resort experiences malfunctions and wear and tear but it's really hard to track down if guests don't tell them about the problems. Letting the ON SITE people who work the front desk or a manager know there is a problem frequently will get you better service IMHO.

Good luck with your wifi signal problem. I have always had great signals at Disney no matter where I have stayed so I think this might be some sort of a weird glitch.

AND.... if you see Matthew McComeherehunny or Johnny Dept running around give them a BIG kiss and tell them Ninja Mom said hi!

OH and Couchy! We are still waiting for that picture of a hot guy by the pool with a drink! Get busy woman!

thank you!! i will do that when we head out in the morning. it seems to be just my laptop, not my phone.

i learned much about the call centers when my beloved moose made a trip to the laundry facilities a couple years ago. :P and they learned all about the then-23-year-old who still carries her moose around. ..

i'll BOLO for mr. MM AND JD!

Might try their Quiche Florentine this year.

Do try it! My new favorite. I always used to get the quiche Lorraine because I didn't care for the veggie quiche they used to make but the goat cheese in the florentine is perfect!

One of my favorite things to do: stop by the Patisserie on our way out the international Gateway and grab a quiche to go. Store it in your handy mini fridge until the next morning then pop it in the microwave. Open a bottle of chilled champagne, add some sliced fruit and you have an amazing breakfast watching the sunrise on your balcony : )

Trying to decide if I should switch from a regular room to a studio room at the BC.
Are there any advantages to being in a studio room? Is it bigger than a regular room?

HELP!!!!

We are planning our first trip, so this is coming from a newbie. We chose a studio at the Beach Club Villas. There is only two of us, so it's big enough. There's a separate area with a couch, and we will have a small dinette with fridge. As for actual size, square footage, I'm not sure there are room maps online.

PORK because it is TO DIE FOR, right Nannette??

Oh yes the pork is crazy good... I couldn't eat it slow enough to make it last!!

As for Downtown Disney Nannette is fond of Bongo's Cuban cafe

YES YES YES to Bongo's... I am planning so many thing while I'm at Vero Beach just to stay away from Downtown Disney and Bongo's, but I might take a trip just for lunch there!!

Kouzinna is so good for breakfast.. LOVE it!

Definitely my favorite QS is now BOG at the MK. Yum! Loved the potato leek soup and the roast beef as well as the ham & cheese & the strawberry cream cheese cupcakes & well, I think you get the idea.

I also like the lobster bisque and a baguette from the Boulangerie Patisserie in France. Might try their Quiche Florentine this year.

Also like the Roast Beef Sandwich with Jarlsberg cheese from Kringla Bakery in Norway.

Really enjoy eating the Grilled Chicken Breast Sandwich with a four-cheese blend, tomato, avocado and arugula from Hurricane Hannah's while lounging around SAB.

For something different, my DH like the Grilled Vegetable Sandwich at Backlot Express at DHS. We sometimes get the BBQ Pork Sandwiches at Flame Tree in AK.

We also enjoyed ordering some less expensive food from Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar in Italy. Not a quick service but not a table service either. Would like to try Spice Road Table (same concept) in Morocco this summer. And Crews Cup Lounge in the Yacht Club is another one we like to go to for dinner that is somewhere in-between as well.

Thank you for your help :) Everything sounds wonderful. Will definitely try BOG.

We find Sunshine Seasons - the food court - at The Land in Epcot to be a good counter service option. It has a lot of variety. :) We also like the pulled pork nachos at Captain Cooke's at the Polynesian. And DH liked his Asian salad there.

Captain Cook's sound like the kids would love it :thumbsup2 Going to try that out. Thank you!

Trying to decide if I should switch from a regular room to a studio room at the BC.
Are there any advantages to being in a studio room? Is it bigger than a regular room?

HELP!!!!

The studio will have a full balcony while only about 50% of the BC rooms have a full balcony. The studios will have a microwave, a little bit larger refrigerator, a toaster and a four-cup coffee maker. There will be a queen bed and a sofa bed in the studio.

The rooms at the BC are nicer than the studio rooms. Some of them have daybeds. They have two queen beds. I think that the BC rooms are a little larger.

I would stay in a BC room instead of the BCV studio if the cost were about the same. The rooms are much nicer. :goodvibes

Hi,
We are staying at the Beach Club for 3 weeks August 5th - August 26th this summer :) :) Last visit we had a great garden view room on floor 2 overlooking the volleyball nets - just wondering what numbers these rooms are as we want to request one but can't remember the numbers!
Thanks in advance!
Claire

Y'all are making me sooooo hungry today!!!

NM you make my day! :-)

Question and probably a dumb one so pardon ....lol. If you rent points at BCVs can you stay club level or is that just through a WDW ressie.

Also, how do you go about renting points?

Keep hearing people talk about it and admittedly not looked into it.

Some people rent from this company: http://www.dvcrequest.com/
I have not used them myself. They act as the middle man. You tell them what you want, then they contact DVC members who have points they don't need. The DVC member makes the reservation for you. You cannot contact DVC Member Services unless you are a DVC member.

Other people rent directly from a member. It's cheaper, but you are dealing directly with an individual you don't know. It's a financial risk for both parties. I believe there is a rent/trade board here on the Dis.

Club level is in the Beach Club, not Beach Club Villas. The Villas are a separate building. No club level at the Villas. (The only DVC resort at Disney with a club level is Animal Kingdom Villas.)

Trying to decide if I should switch from a regular room to a studio room at the BC.

Deluxe Studio Villa (this would be in the Beach Club Villas building)
365 sq ft

Beach Club
Room size: 380 Sq Ft.

Okay, you've sold me on it. Funny, I was thinking a split of champagne might have to be my side beverage with it.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.:)
