DH and I are staying at BWI (for the first time) a week before you guys arrive, so thanks for saying something about the YouTube videos...I want to see those too! Blueskies seems to like BWI, and I trust her judgement since we seem to like the same things:)
BlueSkies definitely has great taste :) Come to think about it..so do you and I :) Sorry we are missing you, I know we will all have a Grand trip, even if it's not at the GF.

Hello my GF friends. I just read online that after a 20 year run this will be the last year for the Osborne Lights at DHS. They are being removed to make way for the Toy Story Midway Mania and Star Wars renovations. So if the lights are on your bucket list you have this as the last season to see them. It doesn't sound as if they will be going back up.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself to the thread. I'm taking my granddaughter to WDW Christmas week to celebrate her birthday. My husband and I have been many times, but this will be my granddaughters first trip to WDW and on a plane. This will also be my first time at a deluxe and the GF. I'm so excited and looking forward to spending some quality time with her alone and showing her why I love Disney so much!

What a wonderful introduction to the GF and to WDW! Oh, to see the decorations and happenings through the eyes of a little girl! It will be very busy but also very special with the hotel decorated inside and out. The plantings in the gardens are lovely and reindeer decorations are found in several garden beds. Mickey and Minnie, in their festive finery, visit the GF during Christmas week for photo ops by the gorgeous Christmas tree. Choirs come to carol each evening. Of course, the Gingerbread House is a sight to behold. They do the season well at the Grand.

Help!

It's my first time staying at the GF and it's my husband's and my babymoon. Last trip for a looong time. We have booked a Lagoon View room.

My questions are: (1) Is there a particular building that I should be requesting? I don't know if 1 building is more preferred than the other as I've never stayed there before. (2) I would prefer a room with a king bed since I'll be bringing my huge body pillow with me (it's the only way I get a good night's sleep) and would love a dormer room. Is this even a possibility?

Any other tips/things to request would be greatly appreciated! We will be checking in at this time next week - can't wait!!

Congrats on the babymoon. :)

1) I always take whatever building I get as I have no preference. Others here like to be close to the main building, however, this is a very well-laid-out resort, with no building far from the main. Your request for a King might determine your building placement.

2) I have stayed in a King room, dormer, and loved it! We had a lagoon view, looking at the Grand 1 Yacht. Sago Cay. Remember, there are only a few King rooms at GF, so your request might not be granted. But I bet if you let them know ahead of time, that you are pregnant and need lots of room for you and your pillow (hahaha), I'm sure they will try and do the best they can.

Have a wonderful time!!

Thank you so much! I just faxed in my room requests today - I really only specified that a king bed would be our #1 request.

We are so excited! I say this may be our first and only time at the GF but we might be really spoiled after this... :)

From what I have heard, they are not looking at faxed room requests anymore. You need to call Disney and have it noted on your reservation. Have a great trip!!

Looks like another website that shall not be named needs to update their stats! They had listed a handful of resorts not accepting faxes such as the Wilderness Lodge. I'll give reservations a call to have them notate it. Thanks!

At the 60 day mark! Just booked FP+ so excited! :yay:

Quick question does anyone know the room numbers at the Sugarloaf which have a balcony pool facing?

Thank you. Love all the help thats on this board!
Basically the even number rooms face the courtyard/pool and the odd face the marina. All the rooms have a balcony except for a few of the deluxe/ledge tower rooms with the "bump out".

I have heard that rumor and believed it so I took my mom last year. I'll sure miss those lights, one of my favorite holiday experiences at Disney.

Good to know! In my years at WDW I've never done Fantasmic or the Osborne lights. Either we've been rained our or we scheduled DHS for the morning and another park in the evening for some reason or another. But this year I'm finally doing F! and Osborne lights...so I guess that's good timing on my part.

You can email IPO to request a room on the pool side :)

I've booked an outer building deluxe room. Do you know if they have balconies? The few floor plan diagrams I've found show a balcony. The only pictures I've found, other than WDW website, look quite old. These room sightings are as rare as Yeti at Wilderness Lodge!

the middle floor rooms do have a balcony. The lower floor doesn't (or maybe smaller and enclosed) and the top doesn't.

Quick question for those of you who had Outer building Lagoon Views. Did any of you have luck with actually being able to see the castle from your rooms? If so, what building/room number did you happen to have? I really wanted to book a TPV but none were available for our stay. Thanks much in advance.
