For parents with kids finishing school you know how busy these last weeks are. Sorry I didn't multi quote I was just too tired.

Dd is in Vero beach and has been sending pics and face timing me. Now dh wants to try it.

Not loving the wine control but it depends on how they do it. When I request wine during the day they usually are very sweet about it, especially poly and cr. Gf main building made me feel like I was bothering them but SL was nice.

I think mixing up the food is a good idea. Hopefully someone can get carving station pix.

Have a grand day all:)

As you can see above, I FINALLY figured out what to do!! :woohoo:

Love the ticker, looks great :thumbsup2

Ok- we were booked at the BCV and I just switched to the VGF - 1 BR Lake view! So excited!! I wonder what the chances are of getting a discount for it. :tink:

Congrats on the switch, I'm sure you'll love the GF :wizard:

Ditto Mickeynut!!!

:goodvibes

Hope DD is having a nice time in Vero beach :beach:. LOL on your DH wanting to try face timing.

I agree about mixing up the food......I'd also love to see pics of the carving station ::yes::.

Tea in the CL lounge!!! Dd and I love the tea room but we don't do it when staying gf CL!

So much of the offerings at the tea room you will get for free at CL lounge AND you can help your self! Dd always makes a plate of scones up for later and has with ether appies;)

Note to others: dd has gotten to-go items from the tea room. She likes to buy the cans of tea for at home too.

However, if you haven't tried the tea room later in the week for something to do isn't a bad a bad idea since you won't have any transportation issues. Can't have too many of those great desserts.

Thanks!! And thanks Mickeynut! CL was my original plan, both for not having to worry about an ADR time and cost (considering we're paying CL and it seems many of the options are the same)! I'll stick with that plan!!

Hi everyone!
I booked my first gf stay for my 50th birthday!!! Yippee!! I booked it a couple months ago for 3 nights the first weekend in dec. I did book deluxe king club level in the main bldg. I am sooooo excited!!! It will just be me and dh. We are doc members and staying at the boardwalk villas for 6 nights before we move over to gf. I did request a theme park view with balcony. We have never stayed club level and I have been getting great info just by reading these boards. Should I request a certain room? Also should I make dining reservations if we are staying club level? I did book the first night at narcoosees Thanks for all your help!!! Can't wait for my trip!!!

Sounds like a fantastic birthday! I think Narcooses is a great idea. I could never talk my husband into spending for CL so I have to live vicariously through others who post here.

Sounds like an awesome trip - what a way to celebrate the big 5-0!!

I've booked my first trip to the GF in November and also booked a deluxe king! Everyone on here has been extremely helpful with giving me tons of info so I'll share what I learned! This thread has floor plans of the two types of deluxe king rooms in the main building at the GF: http://www.disboards.com/threads/deluxe-room-grand-floridian.1839423/. One style is on the second floor, has a balcony, and a TPV (although apparently one of the TPV rooms has a tree that obstructs any true view). The other style deluxe kings are in the turrets of the buildings and are much larger. Some of these rooms (4021 - 5th floor, 4421 - 4th floor (CL floor), 4321 - 3rd floor) have a TPV...Dispro posted a picture a few pages back with the view from 4021. These rooms do not have a balcony. The 2nd floor rooms with balconies are also in a strange location from what I've read where you have to take an elevator to get to the main building elevator to take to the CL or the monorails. From what I've read it almost doesn't feel like it's in the main building because of that second elevator. However, some people love those rooms because of the balconies! I've requested a turret style room with a specific request for 4021 or 4421.

Hope this helps!!

Plus the courtyard pool if you look down:) I think I posted this a while back but didn't say it was the view from our king turret room. I have one of the view toward Poly too that I posted before too, I think. Spectacular views!

And Blue, I think I packed everything... I'll know soon since we're only two hours away from Disney now! Well, we're shopping tonight, but I'll know when we check in to BC tomorrow! I have no idea how we will fit our new stuff in the car...but I'm so excited, I'll worry about that next Saturday!! We are totally avoiding the GF so we won't be sad...

I checked into today from Poly due to the construction and was put in a main bldg - Deluxe King - CL Room 4430. When I walked in I turned to the CM who showed me up to the room and was like this is really my room and she said yep. I guess going through two days of construction outside my room at Poly was worth it if it means staying here. Yeah to Disney Pixie Dust.

NorthMinnie - here are two posts with pics of the turret style deluxe kings. Dispro's post has views from 4021 and animalkingdom15 has inside pics of 4430. There are more pics from folks throughout this thread so you can try the search tool and search just this thread for the terms "king deluxe" and you can probably find them easier than reading all 100+ pages  But when you have time, there's tons of helpful info if you read through them all!

I think it was Blueskies who posted her view from the 2nd floor deluxe king TPV (basically of a tree)!

Lol, I meant my dh wants to try Vero Beach!!! He is a pro at FaceTime :)

She really is enjoying it!!! Her bf gma and gpa are celebrating their 60th and disney delivered chocolate covered strawberries tonight:thumbsup2

Oh we had trifle both of our trips at SL so I am hoping to have it again:) Jam tarts too!!!!
I love those two things!! Especially the trifle....:cloud9:
We are not booked CL at AKL, but might think about upgrading to enjoy their lounge. We did one time years ago. I recall they had a refreshing juice I just loved!

The TPV rooms are on the 2nd floor, 4201-4209. If standing outside looking at the building they go left to right 09-01.

I had the "tree room" which is 4201. If I ever book that category again I would request any except that number, the others all looked fine.

Elevators: there is one that goes from the lobby to all floors 1-5. You need your MB to access 3-5.

The second one you access following the hall from the 3-5 floor rooms towards sago/bus stop end of the building or opposite of the lounge end(hope that not confusing) . Since the building is oddly shaped just keep walking until you see this elevator. It goes to the 2nd floor CL rooms but also to Gaspies, courtyard pool, and easier for bus stop too.

If you didn't know that elevator was there you have to traipse through the lobby with your swim gear on or take out food in hand!

I still remember dh arguing with me when I took him for that 2nd elevator the first time, he insisted I was wrong BUT I had read about and knew it was there and we found it very convenient :)

When I don't book CL I just buy treats at the confectionery in MK or starring rolls in HS:)

So I made the mistake of googling the pictures of the Gingerbread House that goes up at the Grand Floridian and it is AMAZING.

Anyone know how early in the season this is up, typically? We do have an ADR at the GF during our trip and I'd be thrilled if it was up when we are there... (we go the week before Thanksgiving)
