Hi all! We are booked at the Beach Club from January 27 - Feb 3, 2015. We generally stay at the Contemporary (TPV), but the new discounts pushed us to try something new. We (myself, husband, and two kids 6 & 11) are looking forward to staying so close to Epcot.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 of this thread.

:cool1:

Hi everyone :wave2: We are staying at BCV from Oct 24th to Oct 30th (soooo excited).

I do have a question I was hoping you guys might help me with - or at least talk me down from fretting over.

We check in on the 24th of this month into a studio - it's just me, DH and DS8. Then on the 26th, we check out of that room and into a 2 bedroom that day - where it will be a group of eight of us.

On that same day, the 26thth - I'm taking the kids to a homeschool class at HS - and then we have MNSSHP that night.

So, basically I'm freaking out about doing everything on the same day. What are the chances that our 2 bedroom villa will be ready early? I need to get the kids settled down after class, and then get everyone dressed for the party. I'm just in panic mode, LOL!!!

Thanks for any advice :) We are really looking forward to staying here this year!

What class are you taking at HS? We have done the Imagineering one.

I know there have been further comments about your switchover day.

:goodvibes

Sorry I didn't keep up with live reports last week, after the first two days I got into lazy vacation mode. I am hoping to post a small review of our trip in the next couple days. Every one going soon enjoy your trips. We had fantastic weather and hope it holds up for all of you!

Teena it was great to meet you and my girls really enjoyed pin trading. I sent you a pm when you have a moment.

No worries!

Glad you were ignoring us because you were off having a relaxing, fun time! ;)

Looking forward to reading more about your trip.

Day II

Excellent second day....Pixie Dust courtesy of Mother Nature~ Bye Bye Thunder & Lightning. Beautiful Day!

We booked an ADR for breakfast at The Crystal Palace. We arrived at the YC bus stop for MK at 9:06, bus arrived at 9:12. The bus stopped at the BC (now, I understand why some folks decide to walk to the YC to catch the bus), arrived at MK at 9:32. Breakfast (ADR for 10:15, seated early at 10:00) and eight rides later...DS's decide they want to stop by Epcot on our way back to the YC, so we opted for the monorail...not a time saver (MK monorail to transfer station, change to Epcot monorail, then boat to YC) 40 minutes. Nice change of scenery from the bus, if you have the extra time.

Our room was made up, and there was a great towel turtle (very intricate) on one of our beds!

Enjoyed a quick swim/hot tub at SAB, then an enjoyable dinner at Cape May Cafe - 7:05 ADR, seated at 7:25.

DH & DS's now enjoying the arcade.

I am a fan of FP+ & Memory Maker/Photo Pass...

Big day tomorrow ~ AK in the morning, SAB in the afternoon...then MNSSHP in the evening!
Wish my legs luck..lol.

~ Jessica

:woohoo:

Sounds like you had a fantastic day and you have another spectacular one planned for today! Thanks for sharing the details of your trip.

Hope you have a picture of the towel turtle to share with us when you are back home!

Hi all! I just found this thread and am enjoying browsing through it.

Hubby and I are considering a trip for W&D race weekend Nov. '15 and are thinking of staying at BC. It will be our first time!

This will be trip for our 10th anniversary (kid free!!) and we'd *really* like a full balcony. This is mostly a resort trip, not really hitting the parks much.

We were looking at the Waterview rooms, but are there any room categories that have a better chance of getting a full balcony? Any tips?

If a full balcony is a must I'd suggest considering Yacht Club. Much quieter resort, shared amenities of Stormalong Bay and all rooms have full balconies.

Hello,
Thank you for adding us to the Be Our Guest list for September 2015. Resort is Beach a Club.

Happy to say that I was able to switch to the Yacht Club yesterday from Caribbean Beach for 11/1-11/11. :cool1: So happy to be able to walk back to my room after Food and Wine! Dream come true. First time staying there!

OK...so we dropped the DDP and extended our stay at BC, club level for 6/6-6/18. In the middle of our trip we are going to go to Universal to check out Harry Potter land and my oldest son is a space nut so a visit to the Kennedy Space Center is a must! I think we'll try buying GCs at Target and use those for meals...save a little $$$ by using our Red Card (5% discount).

We are going to take full advantage of the food offerings at the Concierge Lounge...anyone replace a full meal with the afternoon and evening food they put out? LOL! Love this thread...it's been a great resource!!

It's definitely not a full meal. During the day it is just snacks and the 5-7 PM is only appetizers.

Since you are there for 12 days, in my opinion, you would do better to buy an annual pass and then purchase Tables in Wonderland for your meal discounts.

Finally under the 10 day mark! Funny how you wait for months, counting down every day...then the trip finally comes up on you fast and I feel like there's still much to do. Can't wait to try the YC!

I feel the same way - I was counting down forever - and now it's coming almost too fast, LOL!!!

Us too!!! We arrive 10/26 to the BCV. Since it is a DVC stay during F & W I booked it at exactly 11 months out. It has been a long count down and I too still have tons to do.

We'll be at BCV the same time! Soooo excited for F&W!

Thanks so much! They're taking the exploring animation history class. I'm so excited to go - I'll be one of the chaperones for the class. I'm taking my son and my friends' two daugthers (as we're all traveling together). This trip is an absolute dream come true - especially for DS8 to be with his friends  And yes, I did see the comments for our switchover day - thank you - and thank you Teena for your help :goodvibes

Thanks, Teena for that suggestion! I've been thinking about that...but we are military and are going to get the 4 day Disney Salute with park hopper and water park option...then possibly add on a one day ticket to MK (that comes to about $300/person). Last time we went in 2009 the tickets were for 5 days...can't complain too much since the discount is very good.

So that's 5 days at the parks, 2 days at the water parks, 2 days at universal and 1 day at Kennedy. Of course we'll spread that out to include a couple days of just resort time and pick our park days to maximize the Magic hours...I.E go to AK or HS when Epcot has nighttime magic hours, that's sort of thing. I wish the park hour calendar was up for next June...that would help with the planning. Disney posts them about six months ahead of time, right? If anyone has any ideas or recommendations on how I should plan I will welcome them!

But lots of planning is still to be done, because we are planning to fly to Washington and to drive down to Florida (we call it our East coast road trip), with stops at Virginia Beach, the Outer banks, Charleston, Cedar Key (or, alternatively, New Smryna Beach - just can't decide) and then, to top it all off, two days at Universal and seven days at Disney!!!

Sooo exciting....

What an exciting trip!!! Driving down the east coast is fun...the Outer Banks are gorgeous! We owned a 77 Volkswagen Bus and drove it from Richmond, VA to the outer bank and camped there...took a ferry to Okracoke Island, too! But the highlight of your trip will be the 7 days at the World! I think a trip to Germany would be dream vacation! I've always wanted to see the Berlin Philharmonic live and see Beethoven's hometown!

I don't believe that any particular view category has more balconies than another- the smaller balconies are spread throughout the resort. There is a higher percentage of rooms with full balconies on the club level floor (5th floor) than the regular resort, but it still is not 100%.

:)

If a full balcony is a must I'd suggest considering Yacht Club. Much quieter resort, shared amenities of Stormalong Bay and all rooms have full balconies.

So it sounds like you are staying at BC the whole time and driving over to US and Kennedy?

As a veteran of 6 summer trips to Florida theme parks, my advice to you is to get the parks as early as you can. The morning is the coolest part of the day, and you get a lot done in the first two hours of the park before the swarming masses show up. We always take advantage of whatever park is having the extra magic hour in the morning. Then, when it gets super crowded at the parks in the afternoon, we take a short resort break, regroup for dinner and enjoy some evening time at the parks.

:thumbsup2

I was the chaperone for my older son's class trip in 2012- we did the Energy and Motion class at MK and Imagineering at HS. I am going again in June with my youngest son and I think we are doing the Properties of Motion Class and the Imagineering class again.

I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on the animation program.

Yes, we will stay at BC the entire time! I can't imagine staying anywhere off property when we visit US and Kennedy...want to come back to the magic at the end of those days! pixiedust:

Thanks for the advice...getting to the parks at "rope drop" is what we always try to do! We went to Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea this past summer and if we weren't at the parks 30 minutes prior to opening we wouldn't have been able to get fast passes for the most popular rides and the standby lines would have been 2 hours long!

What an exciting trip!!! Driving down the east coast is fun...the Outer Banks are gorgeous! I have this dream of buying a restored VW camper van and using it for road trips. My husband thinks I'm insane and should plan on taking my sister.

We stayed at YC CL a few years ago (whenever Harry Potter opened at Universal). I can honestly say that we did use the evening apps as our meal. We aren't real big eaters and my boys weren't teens yet, but with a bigger lunch and then afternoon snacks in the lounge and apps, we were good to go back to the park in the evening.

So, it would be possible to save a little if you did a later, bigger lunch. Just depends on appetites! I could make do with the food in the lounge my whole trip! :)
