We don't know the end date for the work at the BC at this time- probably late summer/early fall. When the rooms have all been refurbished at the BC, work at the YC will start.

This is not the type of construction like over at the Poly.

Hope this helps.

:eek: We are booked at YC in late August. This would mean it would be under construction around then? That would really stink. Is it just the rooms or are they doing work in the lobby/pools, etc...? Thanks!

Maybe we should switch to BC if we can.

:welcome: to this thread!

Did you talk to someone at the call center? Or someone who is actually working at the resorts/parks?

The room renovations at the Beach Club are happening now. The club level, floor 5, rooms and lounge have all been completed. I believe they are working on the 4th floor now.

The work will progress floor by floor. Look at the very first post in this thread for the latest info.

So it sounds like we'll have refurbished rooms by first week of October?

BTW, talked to someone at the call center, so maybe they're clueless.

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the list.

If your friend does not want to wear the band, I bet that it will fit MY wrist! Just sayin'

;)

Hehehe I really did lol at this! She didn't mind the idea once I told her she was able to pick a colour for the band and that she got to pick a character pic on her account :cool2:

Edit - I haven't read through the thread in a while, and I'm curious about the refurb. Did they replace the mattresses? Are they any better? I was surprised at how ordinary they were at BCV. And the sheets...wow...very hotel quality. Maybe I was spoiled, coming from HRH where the bedding was divine, but I kind of expected more from the hotel in this area.

Per the DIS (owners of this site), the BC room refurbishments is schuled to go through 08/22/2015. I hope it's completd by then...we check in on 8/25.

We also received a mail regarding the refurbishment of SAB from disney :-(
We're arriving at the beginning of April.

Really?? I thought it was supposed to be done by then. I need to go back through this thread for info I guess. We will also be at BC at beginning of April.

Check out page one of this thread for the latest and greatest and most factual news on the refurbishment work. There is a lot of incorrect information on the refurbishment of the BC/BCV/YC out there in the cyberworld. Dee (board guru) keeps it factual and accurate. The YC may or may not be getting started in August as they aren't going to begin work on this side of the resort until the BC side is completed which right now is scheduled for August (see previous post). The pool will not be getting worked on unless there is some sort of emergency situation requiring immediate attention (too many sunken treasures in the sand). I don't see why the lobby would be affected either as I thought this was in outstanding condition when I was there last December. Construction will be completed in segments starting with upper floors and moving their way down. Work is done during the day so if you have a reason to be in the room in the late morning / early afternoon and you happen to be in an area where there is construction noise from above or below you can ask to be relocated but otherwise is should not be an issue. I hope you have a great stay at the YC in August. I really believe that the refurbishment work is the last thing you need to be concerned about (but that is just my opinion).

A couple of people have mentioned getting a message about SAB being under refurbishment when they are booking. I went to the WDW booking site to see what is there. I priced out rooms, but I didn't actually go to checkout because I didn't want to actually book one. Well, yes I do, but I didn't...so I don't know what message comes up if you actual click checkout.

When I go to see the description of the Beach Club Resort, there is this message

**************************************************

This resort hotel is undergoing refurbishment More...

When I click on more I get this:

The annual refurbishment of the Stormalong Bay pool area is currently scheduled to take place through spring 2015. During this time, portions of the pool will be closed for enhancement; however, the remaining portions of the pool will continue to be available for your enjoyment.

Throughout your stay at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, you may hear construction noise between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM as we work to enhance your experience. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

When I booked Beach Club Villas for April 22-25 from the DVC Member site, this was the message that was displayed:

"Disney's Beach Club Villas- Stormalong Bay Pool area annual refurbishments starting early 2015. Portions of the pool may not be available to guests at all times."

If I receive any updated information about an extended refurb on SAB or the pool slide I will let you know.

According to everything I have read, the slide work was happening in Jan, and the lazy river in Feb. With the timetable we have seen, the slide/pool are scheduled to reopen around Feb 2.

Unless there was a problem found with either the slide or the pool where the slide ends, it doesn't make sense for them to be working on that part of the pool in late March.

Yes, the other parts of the pool remain open while the work is going on in the other sections.

:)

You won't find anything elsewhere in the thread other than what has been posted in the second post on this thread (SAB)- that the work is scheduled until early March.

What did it say????

What kind of teaser post is this!?!?? What did the communication say?

That seems to go along with the information I have received so far.

Here is the wording received by a guest staying in late March. I have not heard anything prior to this indicating that the work is not on schedule to finish when expected (early March)

January 2015

Dear Guest,

We are delighted you have chosen to stay with us at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, a nautical and luxurious home-away-from-home nestled quietly on the cusp of Crescent Lake, and we are excited to host you as our Guest!

In order to provide a great Guest experience and to continue sharing the magic, it is important that we enhance our offerings. In preparation for your upcoming stay, we want to make you aware of our annual pool refurbishment that will be taking place during your visit.

Portions of the Stormalong Bay Pool area, including the waterslide, will be closed for enhancement and unavailable during your stay. Though certain sections may be closed, you are encouraged to utilize the portions of the pool that will remain open during standard operating hours. Each of our three additional leisure pools and hot tubs will also remain open for your aquatic adventures. Please reference the image below for a detailed explanation of what areas will be inaccessible during your stay:

In addition, there is a chance you may overhear construction noise between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm as we work to enhance our many offerings.

While you may experience our “work in progress,” please know that we are making every effort to ensure your comfort and enjoyment of all that we have to offer. From the sights and scents of New England elegance to the warm feeling of sand between your toes, we are excited to welcome you to our lakeside retreat that has been a home to visiting Guests for nearly 25 years.

:welcome: to this thread.

I don't think is anything you should be concerned about. So far we have been told that the work being done is on rooms only. And that the work would be done with the least disruption to guests possible.

Re-read this part:

This is not the type of construction like over at the Poly.

You also may want to take a look at the first posting on Page 1 of this thread for more info.

Ahh good -- thank you! Saves me the search :thumbsup2. I hadn't been in this thread for a week or so and thought maybe something different had been posted.

We are staying Easter week Apr.4-10 and have not received a letter. We chose BC specifically for the pool features (lazy river and water slide). I'm nervous! We don't go often and this was a big splurge for our family.

Speaking of Pool closings and maintenance: Since Ninja Mom is living in the frigid confines of the great white north and also has a pool, This is the letter that Ninja Mom sends out to all family members and neighborhood interlopers when her pool at home is closed:

Dear free loaders,
As the days get shorter and the nights get longer it is time for me to do the annual maintenance on the pool... all by myself... because none of you will get off your keisters and help me. To that end I am putting up official notice That the pool will be closed until I am good and ready to open it again... which after last years epic battles with it, namely the great PH battle, the misbehaving pool vacuum and the surprise snake in the skimmer, will open when I am good and ready for it, well that and I get a refill on my Prozac prescription.

Yeah sure the snake turned out to be rubber and my cardiologist said there was no permanent damage to my heart, but if I EVER catch the 4 year old who forgot their life like reptilian toy there will be a beating of unknown dimensions on the soles of their little size 5 feet.

So please collect all your belongings, your ratty pool towels, your broken goggles, your cracked supersoakers, your used bandaids, half of a pair of flop flops (who wears only one???) and beat feet out of my yard for the foreseeable future.

Signed, the Mistress of the deep (end of the pool).
PS. The only hurricane policy I have is that they should be served chilled in tall glasses with little paper umbrellas on them.

I was also wondering if there was a better number to call, other than the general number (the number in Disney's web page) I call when making reservations when making requests? I have requested a full balcony but would like to call agin to request an upper floor. Does it matter which number I call?

The main reservation number is the best number to call to make requests. In fact, other than member services for DVC rooms, it's the only number to call.

Well this just in, after a close call we were able to get to get a club level at the yacht club for the 3-6th woot
