DW called Disney this am to check on a possible date/ cost change. We are @ Poly from 2/28 through 3/8 with DDP for a total of just under $7200. I wanted to check and see if we came in on the Monday after the marathon our rate would drop.
Disney rep said that the rate we got should already have been blacked out (??) for the dates we booked.
I thought we were pretty close to rack rates at what we booked and were hoping (but not relying) on free dining and or discount for our time.

Now I don't feel so good about getting any additional discounts for our timeframe.:(

What are you paying for your 2013 vacation?

There have been no discounts announced for 2013 yet (and probably won't be for a while yet). Any package deal you have right now would be rack rate which varies by "Disney season" and weekday/weekend.

If you think you might want to adjust your dates to obtain a lower rate, then check the WDW Poly resort page that lists the room types and rates. You can see there what the rate variations are for different dates.

If you go to mousesavers.com, there is a page that shows historical resort discounts- release dates, type of disount, dates they are available etc.

http://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/

You might get an idea from these whether or not to expect a discount for your dates. Of course Disney doesn't usually offer discounts for periods of normally high occupancy. There's never any guarantee that Disney will even release a particular discount, so book the vacation you can afford and look on any discount that comes along as a bonus. :goodvibes

7200 $ounds like a lot of money to me....

Of course it's a lot of money- it's the POLY!! I took a quick look, (guessed 2 adults, 0 children) and for those dates it looks like they're doing lagoon view, 9 day PHs and DDP. It could be done for $$$$$$$ cheaper by going standard view and paying OOP for meals.

Garden View 2 adults,2 kids
no hopper
DDP
thanks for all the input people! I appreciate your thoughts

We aren't staying Poly....but we have 2 rooms at a Value with 4 children, 2 adults (next year it'll actually be 2 adults, 3 juniors and 1 child) and we usually come out at around 4000.00 for 9 days, 5 day base tickets and using the free dining plan/upgraded to the TS plan. It would be around 600.00 more to use a 30% off code and pay OOP for our dining.

If we got two rooms at the Poly (they don't have rooms that sleep 6?) it would be 11,544....YIKES! So you got a bargain as far as I'm concerned LOL
