2013 Free Dining Watch

We've always come out cheaper staying at value and upgrading and our upgrade cost is for 3 adults (since son is 12) and one child.

It's a lot cheaper for us to stay value and upgrade because all but one of our kids is now priced out as an adult.

Actually just ran our numbers for this year's rates, and since we are now 4 Disney adults (myself, DH, DS13 and DD10) it would only save us $38 on a 10 night trip to stay value and upgrade. So for $38, we could stay at a moderate, but for the other party with us, which is only 2 adults, they save $400 on the 10 days. So we'll probably stay at POP:confused3

Just curious. How is it cheaper? No matter how many times I look at the numbers I don't get how it would be cheaper to do moderate than the value with upgrade. For two adults and two children it is only $333 total for the upgrade in dining but it would be $1400 for us to change from POP to CBR... Was trying to figure it out for myself so I am not questioning you just curious how the math worked out with yours. I may not be calculating something correctly.

So what do I do if I planned to check in Sep 1? Can I book a room only for that night?

Yep. Book a room only and then a package on the 2nd. You will have to check out and back in, which comes with a risk of switching rooms, but they will do what they can to keep you in the same room.

Yep, that's the info we've been talking about for the last 10 pages, since about 10 this morning - it's been a busy day! Lol

But it won't even compare to the actual release day, after the phone lines open up - it will get INSANE!!!

And then would I be able to get my park tickets that morning of the 2? Even though we wouldn't "check in" on that ressie until the evening?

As of now, you could pick them up on the 1st at any guest relations office. Why would you not check in until evening? You should go to the desk first thing in the morning and ask if you can keep your room. If they say yes, just checkout and back in and they will give you your tickets then. If the say no, you can give them your luggage and checkout and back in and that way you will still get your tickets and they can call or text you when your room is ready. If you decide to go this route, have them link the two reservations together and remind them when you arrive that you have a package booked for the following day. This will aid you in trying to keep the same room. For more info on early package ticket pickup, check post #15 section I of the ticket sticky at the top of the Theme Parks and Strategies forum. This will only work for getting your tickets on the 1st. You could not pick them up on the 2nd without physically checking in.

What time do the phone lines open up on may 9th?

I heard from another site that this is the offer for Europe and South America. Is it the confirmed American offer?

Yep, we've had to do this a couple of times to take advantage of a FD promo. No problems and we lucked out and didn't have to move rooms :-)
