2013 Free Dining Watch

Yea the campground is just referring to the cabins. I too would be surprised at anything offered for campsites.

Ok, I just talked to my Disney lady at AAA. She said her Disney Rep hasn't heard a peep about FD, and it wasn't brought up in their quarterly meeting, so he is under the assumption it's just "rumor." I'm still fairly new to posting and reading, so, how reliable is Danny25? Could this really still be a rumor? I don't want to worry over nothing :confused3

Danny has been spot on with his info for 2 years. He only posts when he knows it to be fact.

A question, just so I aif I set up my reservation so I am clear:

If I set up my reservation now and put down my $200 deposit, all I need to do to get free dining would be to call on the start date of the promotion and add free dining?

Or would I need to cancel the existing reservation and re-reserve?

Just want to make sure I totally understand before untying money down...

I think the September start makes a lot of sense for this year. My SIL is a teacher and typically our public schools go back before Labor Day. However this year they start after Labor day, so that last week of August will have more potential visitors than in past years...Now that we have early Fall covered, what are the thoughts on October - Im coming down 24-31 and hoping for FD or some other decent discount. Appreciate the thoughts.

I would like to know the same thing. :)

If you decide to book now instead of just waiting for the deal to come out, you will need to book a package. If you were to book a room only, it would have to be canceled and rebooked as a package to get the free dining added on. At this point, there really is no advantage to booking now versus later (unless you plan on going even without free dining at a resort where availability is already limited).

Sorry if this has been asked, but do the Family Suites at the Art of Animation get the QSDP or regular dining plan? I know it's considered a value resort, but you don't pay value prices for the suites. TIA!

They get QSDP. Despite the high cost, the suites are values.

Apparently in previous years Canadian Thanksgiving time is excluded for FD. Check the dates. It's usually the last 2 weeks of October, but I'm not familiar with the holiday.

The middle is typically blacked out, not the end. :goodvibes Last year's FD dates in October were Oct. 1-4 and 19-31. The dates in 2011 were similar. It is not known if the late Columbus Day holiday will have an effect on the blackout period, nor do we know if FD will be offered for Fall. Those deals typically release in July, sometimes August. :goodvibes

We are going 9/7 to 9/15 and taking two kids out of school. The school supported it and we are going early (during review time). The school even helped me arrange for a tutor for the week before we go to get the work out of the way so they could enjoy the vacation. The week before we go our girls will stay at school for an extra hour and a half and work on their school work. Talk to the school... most are great.

My school is like yours as well! Our tentative plans are to leave 9/20 after the kids get out of school..Weekend at universal followed by checking into PoR 9/24-10/1. The kids do have homework while at universal/Disney, but they are happy to do it! They transition easy, and still are A and B students so I do feel the family memories are more than worth a few missed days.:goodvibes

Canadian Thanksgiving always occurs on the second Monday in October.
I believe that it coincides with Columbus Day in the U.S.

Hello. I've been watching this board for a long time, but it's my first time posting. We are going to Disney World from Sept 3 - Sept 8. So excited that this falls into free dining territory! My question is - to get FD, do you HAVE to book through Disney directly? Because I was looking at Travelocity and if you book through them you have an option to get discounts on tickets. Such as buy a 3 day park hopper + water parks, get 2 days free. That would save a bundle, so I was wondering if it was possible to book through Travelocity and also get FD.

There are a couple of others on here who know a lot more, but I believe it has to be a Disney Authorized Vacation Planner and I thought the last time I checked, dining could not be added to package on sites such as that and Expedia, etc.:(

You typically cannot combine promotions. In the past, free dining has only been available for non-discounted packages.
