2013 BOOK CHALLENGE! Are you in?

Just finished the TWD Survivors Guide so one down with 49 books to go!

I would like to join too :) I'll try for 52 books too. My first book is to reread the Great Gatsby for my book club.

This sounds like fun. I would like to have a way to track my books.

Thanks!

I just read Drama. A graphic novel by Raina Telgemeier. She is an awesome artist and it was a fun read.

I've updated the first post up to this point. Please let me know if I've missed your name or recorded your book goal # wrong. :)

I'm in!!! I love to read, so this will be fun! I've gotten so many wonderful recommendations from the DIS, that I know this will be a great group of people to bond with over books! Kind of like a long distance book club!

I'll set my goal at 50 books. I'm starting with Unbroken, which I've wanted to read for a long time, but never got around to reading. Very excited!!!

Once we're done with a book, are we coming back here to report? How will this work?

Off to read the rest of the thread, to see what everyone else is doing!

Hmmm I guess it's up to the individual poster how they'd like to keep track. Personally, I'd like to see book titles rather than just "finished #3!" :goodvibes

I'm not sure yet if I'll just keep updating my one post as I go along or if I'll create a new post with each book....

I'm on Goodreads, user name is the same as on the DIS, if anyone wants to friend me.

Friended! :)

I'm in! I read pretty quickly so I will set that number at 52. I am most excited about the Graceling series my mother loaned me, the new Oatricia Briggs book Frost Burned, Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, the last Sookie Stackhouse, and 24 Hours That Changed the World by Adam Hamilton. My biggest goal is to read the Bible this year.

And does that count as 66 books then??? :hyper:

I would love to join! Put me down for 65. Last year I read 113 but I was home recuperating from 2 surgeries so I think I'll lower that number this year.

I've just finished 2 in the last day. Books 3 & 4 of The Dulcie O'Neill series. Very engaging and an easy read if you like fantasy/paranormal romance novels.

Ereaders rock! Im a huge bookworm and love the real thing but my Kindle makes any downtime book time.

Next book I'm starting: Blackberry Winter by Sarah Jio

You just read 2 books in ONE DAY??? :faint:

Gosh I am SO envious of some of you!!

I'll play! Ever since I got my iPhone I read less and that's sad. I'll go for 15, any book will count right? We're not being book snobs? ;)

No book snobs here! Read WHATEVER you want! A book is a book is a book. :)

Just finished book #1: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I wasn't sure if I liked it until the end, but it's now one of my favorites. I read a lot of young adult fiction, but I usually stick to fantasy/sci-fi/dystopian books and not contemporary/issues books. I definitely recommend having a box of tissue nearby if you choose to read this one.

Up next is The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan. I always read his new books with my nephew, but I think this might be the last because he's outgrowing the series. In fact, I think he's just reading this one to humor me. It should go pretty fast since it's a middle grades book.

50 books in 2013 plus read through the entire Bible in one year
Up that 2
to 100. I tend to read 2 or 3 a week when I am subbing.

I would love to join. I'm setting my goal as 24 books.

I use to read every free second I had, but now I can't seem to keep my eyes open! Lol

Reading falling for the captain (free on kindle!) according to kindle ive read 6%! its actully a really good book about a cop!

Finished #1 0f 2013 The Amber Spyglass by Phillip Pullman

It is the 3rd of the Golden Compass Series. I didnt like it as much as the first 2 in the series.

I will be finishing #2 tonight. Black List by Brad Thor. Very good tech thriller.

Where do you all find decent free e books to read? Im really not into reading all the classics right now. romace or mystery would be good, help?

Do you use Nook or Kindle? I have a Kindle and use Pixel of Ink on Facebook and kindleboards.com to find free and discounted books.

Can I join in please.

My aim will be 30 books. Its great to see some different titles on here, as can get in a rut with genres.

My #1 will be Restless by William Boyd.

I'm in! I decided upon 30 books. I read 33 last year, but 2 books per month and a little extra is a nice goal for me, plus some of the books I want to read are really long. For example, I want to re-read some of the Outlander series. :goodvibes

Currently reading Fault Lines, and so far I'm enjoying it. I'm also re-reading Lord of the Flies for school.

i am soooooooooooo not a reader of books anymore..........but have my poor kindle collecting dust ( well need to find it first than dust it).....i have 100's of mostly free books loaded on there with lots of classics that Ive always wanted to read.............sp i am really setting a modest goal.......and going to try and expand my horizons a bit cause I could read Austen and Gaskell all day if i choose to read............ so put me down for 12................... one a month .....nice and easy to remember.....

Ok what we did on the last book challenge was introduce ourselves and set a goal. We kept track of our own by posting something like this after completing each book:

Goal 48

#22 "Book Title" "Author"

Brief review.

Just a suggestion.
It's too confusing for me otherwise, lol.

Is it too late to join if not i want to put my self down for 11 books. Unless there is a minimum then I will put my self down for that

I've already got my first glitch with Goodreads. I logged on this morning to change the status of a book from reading to read, which I did. But then I couldn't figure out how to add another book to the "currently reading" shelf. Hey, I did post on the Dis Readers discussions, so I'm feeling pretty confident that this will eventually work out for me!
