2013 BOOK CHALLENGE! Are you in?

Finally finished book number 17/25 - Under the Dome. That one took awhile! The book is much better than the show but I thought the ending was weak.

At lunch time I'm starting Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella. I've read all her books and usually love them!

Before I Go to Sleep by S.J. Watson

Not very far in - just started last night, but wow, I am HOOKED! Poor woman wakes up every morning without her memory and has to start all over again, only to lose it again the next day... It's setting up to be a GREAT story - I can see the intrigue building already and hopefully they'll be some twists thrown my way.

I read that book last year and I was hooked right from the start too. It really is a great book, I don't think you'll be disappointed :thumbsup2

#3: The End of Everything by Megan Abbot

All I can say is wow. I read an advanced poof version from early 2011 (got it from a friend). I can't even begin to explain.

It hooked me right away. It was so confusing at first I had to keep reading it. :rotfl:

To explain a little more it is about a 13 year girl who's best friend is kidnapped and struggles to find out exactly what happened and why. It does touch on a few things I wasn't prepared for.

Goal 72

#59 Some Kind of Fairy Tale by Graham Joyce

Twenty years ago teenaged Tara disappeared in the dense----some say enchanted----forest known as the Outwoods. Then she returns on Christmas day thinking only 6 months have passed. Looking the same as she did when she disappeared as a teenager while all her family & her boyfriend (who was suspected of doing her in) have aged.
Tara's tale--slowly revealed--is either magical or delusional, dreamlike or terrifying.

Good book. I would recommend.

That sounds really good. I wonder how the character adjusts to that.

I think I'll add this to my ever growing list of books to read!

This sounds really good, have just added it to my Wish List on Amazon

Just finished John. I really enjoyed it. I didn't think I could dislike Yoko any more than I already do. I identify a lot with Julian Lennon and there are a couple of passages in the book that had me chocked up. It's tough watching your dad go start a new family and be the dad you never had, famous or not.

Up next: Nothing! I'm in school full time this semester and working full-time so I have no time for anything! *sigh*

Just a warning, the writing is a little strange in the beginning however it is easy to get used to.

Goal: 75 books this year.

#72 down and done.

A Question of Honor by Charles Todd. WWI British Army nurse Bess Crawford follows the trail of a Lieutenant who is believed to be responsible for the deaths of five people, even though he is presumed dead. She's sure she's seen him since bones found the desert are identified as his, and she won't rest until the former officer in her father's regiment is either cleared of all charges or proved guilty beyond doubt.

This is the latest in Todd's Bess Crawford series, and he doesn't disappoint. I'm keenly interested in the time period between the late 1800's and the end of WWII and Todd provides a lot of detail about civilian and military life.

Since I'm so close to my second goal, I'd like to up it again to 100 books. Thanks!

Queen Colleen

Are you sure this was Harlan Coben? I have read all of his books several times and didn't recall this one so I looked it up and can't even find a book by him of that name :confused3

What was it about?

ooops it was written by Chevy Stevens, Harlen Coben wrote six years, which was good but Im sure you already know that

Just finished book #57, Larkspur Cove by Lisa Wingate. Sweet, lazy, kinda book. I had a hard time getting into it, but once I did, I really liked it. However, it did leave a lot of loose ends that I hope are addressed in her next book (I think there's a sequel). Next up, Mother's Day Out by Karen McInerney. I just started it this morning, but so far I enjoy it-it's funny and grabbed me right away.

I LOVED this book - I could not put it down. It was one of my top books of 2012.

I'm currently reading 'Never Look Away' by Linwood Barclay, per a recommendation on this thread. It is very good and another one I have a hard time putting down. This is the third book of his I've read so far....all of them good but this is my favorite of the three.

110/150 - Lost by Nadia Simonenko

111/150 - Broken Promises by Dawn Pendleton

112/150 - Losing It by Cora Carmack

113/150 - The One That Got Away (anthology)

These were all Kindle freebies that I read for brainless entertainment during a particularly stressful work month. I didn't want to get involved in anything too deep or complicated, but sadly, it feels like I wasted a lot of valuable reading time. LOL!

114/150 - Naked in Death by J.D. Robb -- an all-time favorite by my absolute favorite author (also known as Nora Roberts). This is the book that started her "In Death" series which is always on my must-read list. Hers are the only books I buy in paper copy. Even 18 years after this book was written, it stands the test of time and is as relevant and interesting today as it was when first published (by the way, this series is now at book 35 or so), and I'm eagerly awaiting the next in the series, "Thankless in Death".

Thanks for the clarification, I was a little worried that I had missed a book by him :rotfl:

Yes, I have read Six Year. I am not as keen on the Mickey Bolitar series though, I prefer Myron :thumbsup2

Currently reading Hidden Mickey 5: Chasing New Frontiers by David W. Smith

Kind of surprised myself. I finally got with it and am reading a lot more. My DH bought me the one by James Bowen and I really enjoyed it.

Once I am finished with Hidden Mickey 5, I will go back and finish the Deadliest Cast Member. The final episode came out and all six episodes were released as one book. I had already decided to re-read the first four episodes before reading 5.

Already have a couple others I want to read, so will keep trudging on. ;)

Goal 120

#92 A Clash of Kings by George R R Martin. I am not a big fantasy reader but these books are so good.

Book 33 of 45

Fable (Unfortunate Fairy Tales) by Chanda Hahn

When something precious is stolen from sixteen-year-old Mina Grime, she will do anything in her power to get it back, even if it means traveling to the dangerous Fae plane and battling one of the strongest fairy-tale villains yet.

However, nothing can prepare Mina for the dangerous obstacles she will face in the Fae world, or the choices she must make when love and life are on the line.

Goal 72

#60 The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

This book has gotten rave reviews from many on this thread so I won't review it.
I really did not like it much. Had to make myself finish it & had even put it down and read another book before finishing. Too long & drawn out & kinda boring to me...:worried:

This is my next book to read for my book club. I am worried about it?

#37, 38, 39...

Hangman, Gun Games, & The Beast... by Faye Kellerman

I'm not sure how I missed the first two. I am a big fan of her books, and when I started reading The Beast I realized that I must have missed a book. I found out that I missed two!
