Back from Orlando - yes I did end up proposing and yes she did say yes.

Did not end up doing it in Orlando per se - we had a free night at The Breakers in Palm Beach (with Oceanfront view) at the start of the trip where I did it right then and there. Had flowers and balloons delivered to the room beforehand. Ended up bringing the vase home which was not easy since we both went carry-on bags only for the whole trip

Thanks for the headsup on shipping issues (moot point since Blue Nile doesn't ship to hotels), everything went smoothly including hiding the ring for 2 flights (and X-ray screening) and a 3 hour drive.

We enjoyed our vacation and our time at the Yacht Club - our sponsoring company also got us doing the Incredible Race as a team event which was also a lot of fun. We were so busy that we never got to enjoy the Yacht Club pool even once! In the six days in Orlando we went to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Blizzard Beach, Animal Kingdom and Seaworld. To say we are exhausted is an understatement.

I understand that the Beach Club renovations will start in 2014. Are there any set start dates as of yet?

My family's trip is May 8th through the 18th. So very excited!

Thanks for the responses so far (and the welcome)!

I do like trying new resorts (as you can tell from my signature) so I am excited to stay there. I am glad to hear that teenagers enjoy it as well.

The whole Titanic reference is a little morbid , but it is really that my boys like the old world luxury look. Maybe YC is a little more masculine as well? I probably would prefer a more beachy look like the BC but I am excited about the full balconies.

One question, has the YC always been gray on the outside? Seems sort of a drab color for a Disney resort, I prefer the blue of the beach club. Maybe a new paint color would liven it up a bit! ;) If it was white it would probably look too much like the Grand Floridian so that would not work. It is still very pretty though, even with the grey color.

The real question is how am I going to contain my excitement for the next five months?

Awww... Ok you have my full name and the reservation number so just go at that time and take that slot it's for 2 anyway. Shouldn't be a problem.. I've never had anyone say can I see ID to make sure it's your reservation. I would fear you wouldn't get a spot if I cancel all it takes is a split second to make a reservation at the same time. I'm fine with the credit card hold being under my name. I did not receive a pm from you though... I would love to meet up for a drink. Try the pm again or just text me or call you should have my cell number.

Let me know if you want to just take the reservation under my name. I don't need to make a reservation to dine at Bongos I'll just walk up so that's fine with me.

Nannette-

I keep trying to send you a PM with my cell # but it looks like it is not sending :( Can you send me your number or an email I can try in a PM? I hope to be able to contact you next week to meet up:cool1:

Thanks

Ok I got two messages from you just now... I replied to one. Drink time will happen on Wednesday for sure if you are up to it! I'll message you or call.

See you soon!

I've asked this a couple of times too :thumbsup2 and.... if I'm right I think the general reply as of now is- it was stated to start early 2014 but nothing has been mentioned as of recent so :confused3 no real answer! I'm hoping by May at least some floors might be done so we get to enjoy the new digs :cool1: I'm super excited too... I'll actually be at the YC in a couple of weeks so maybe I can scoot over to BC one day and get some info!

I actually like the gray. YC has always been my favorite. I like BC and wouldn't hesitate to stay (and I have on several occasions) but would always choose YC first. I just like the views better. The full balconies are great and I prefer the decor of the rooms as well as the lobby.

I do make a point to go over and visit with Teena though. :)

Glad to hear you prefer YC. It was a hard decision but had to go with the kids' choice. :guilty:

Funny thing is I have gray on some of my walls at home so I like the color gray. Why do I keep thinking it used to be a different color?

Thanks for letting us know that it all worked out!

That sounds like a fantastic and memorable trip.

You can't.

That's why we all hang out here and share in the excitement and craziness of waiting for an upcoming trip.

:thumbsup2

No, nothing official yet. :headache:

Someone who just got back a week or so ago posted that he overheard some CMs talking about the renovation. They said the design plans had not been finalized yet. That makes me think the work will start later rather than sooner, since everything will need to be ordered.

As soon as we hear something official we will let you all know!

:)

I'm sorry for the rough year you have had. This thread is a great place to come for friendship, laughter and healing!

Shall I add you to the Be Our Guest list for May?

:woohoo:

Please do! May 8th through the 18th, celebrating my twin daughters' golden birthday!

Congratulations!!!

Excellent! Hopefully the renovations won't be too much trouble for us on the trip. I'm sure they'll be courteous and respectful.

A few more weeks, and I can do Advanced Dining Reservations! I'm hoping to get into California Grill for Mother's Day Dinner down there!

Officially joining the fun. I've been sitting on duel reservations, YC and Swan, and I finally cancelled my Swan ressie this morning. Lots to learn about YC!

I'm still sitting on Dolphin and BC for Jan...can you tell me what made your final decision?

We're here!!!! :) It's been a very long day, but very good. Started out with a 3:15am wake-up (for our 6am) flight, but the trip was very smooth, no issues, arriving 20 minutes ahead of schedule at 9:20am. Budget, however, was awful. It took us 50 minutes to get our car - not sure exactly what the problem was, but the agents definitely could have used a little Disney magic, that's for sure. Rude, slow and hard-sell on the nickel and dime add-ons - by the time I left the rental counter, my usually deep patience had worn very thin.

But then we were off to Disney!! :)

After we pulled up, we were escorted up to the 5th floor where Sean took excellent care of us. He even pulled my daughter behind his desk and put her to work, completing our check-in process - she loved it. :) Our room wasn't ready yet, so we decided to have a quick snack in the lounge (those chips with the garlic-peppercorn dip - awesome!), then were going to leave for MK. One order of business though - I pulled Sean aside and explained that I'd packed birthday surprises for each, and asked if he could help me stage the surprise. He happily agreed, so I left the bags with him while DH was downstairs with the kids searching for hidden Mickeys, and then we were off. MK was challenging at times, for a few reasons.

1. I wanted to upgrade to AP and buy a TIW card. Somehow, the printer freaked out right as my TIW card was supposed to be done, and they couldn't figure out if my order had actually been processed. The admittedly new CM wasn't sure how to handle it and pulled in two different managers to help. Thirty minutes and one complimentary FP later, I was off to get our Photopass Plus and meet up with the fam.

2. Sean had never checked our MagicBands to confirm they worked (which presented a problem back at BC when I couldn't use my MB to get to the 5th floor). But he also never got us to pick a PIN, which meant we couldn't use our MBs for purchase. No biggie - it was quickly resolved when we got back.

And when we got back, we got our room, exactly as requested!! We're in 5667 - lagoon view with a full balcony. :) Can't see the fireworks, but it's ok - we're very happy. And the BEST part - Sean totally came through for the kiddos. We opened the door to find the bags laid out on each bed, each attached to four balloons. :) DS9 and DD7 were over the moon. So, I have to say that I'm LOVING the BC!!!!!!! :)

Thanks for the update. I'm glad your trip down went smoothly, especially since the weather this morning wasn't too good.

I'm glad that the surprise worked so well. Those kids are really lucky. :)

As of today, the earliest it could start I've been told is May 2014. It will be the BC first. We will not have a definite date until the rooms décor has been approved. From that date, they anticipate starting in six months. The lounge on the fifth floor of the BC will be first, followed by the rooms on the fifth floor, section by section. Then down to section by section on the fourth floor, then the third, etc. The minute I am told the room décor has been approved and thus a definite start will be announced, I'll let you know.

Hi everyone! I'm staying at the BC next week for the third time (can't wait to be back!) and will be using the International Gateway for the first time. I was planning to do evening Epcot EMH and wanted to make sure that we can exit through the Gateway as well even though WS is closed? Thanks!

OK, I'll make the adjustment to your listing.

What is the golden birthday? I know in anniversary-speak, Golden Anniversary is 50, but I doubt your daughters are hitting the half-century mark. ;)

We're here!!!! :)

*snip*

So, I have to say that I'm LOVING the BC!!!!!!! :)

Sorry to hear about a few rough spots so far, but glad things are working out at the Beach Club.

Hope the rest of your trip is nothing but smooth sailing!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for next week.

Here's the info from the FAQ post about the International Gateway:

How do I get to EPCOT?

Guests of the EPCOT resorts enter EPCOT through the International Gateway. This entrance takes you to the World Showcase, on a path that is in between France and UK.

Thanks for the pictures missyrose and pixeldust and pixarmom!

How do I enter EPCOT at rope drop/park opening?

Guests who enter EPCOT through the International Gateway prior to the park opening time should proceed on the walkway outside of UK and Canada. Cast members are stationed along the way (bridge to France being #1) to guide you through UK and Canada. After you pass the last little cart coming out of Canada you are directed onto the small pathway that leads toward the Fountain of Nations. There you will experience a real rope with CMs and characters milling around. Across from you, maybe forty yards away, are the guests that arrived from the front entrance.

After the countdown, the rope is removed and CMs will escort you to Soarin in an orderly fashion. Usually, you will arrive at Soarin' either at the same time or just a moment or so after those who enter through the main gates.

Note: Starting in 2013, the French bakery is now open at 9 am when EPCOT opens, so you also have the opportunity to stop there in the morning for a treat. Not sure at this point if the bakery is open at 8 am when EPCOT has early extra magic hours, so if someone could confirm this info, I would appreciate it!

If you have a pre-opening breakfast scheduled at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, you will provide your name and/or reservation to a CM at the International Gateway. You proceed through UK and Canada as described above, then continue past Mexico to Norway.

However, guests of the BC/YC/BCV who need to be at the front of the park BEFORE park opening (for example, marathon runners or for special tours) will probably need to take a taxi from the resort to the front entrance of EPCOT.

ETA: Rope drop info may no longer be applicable.

Won't be a problem.

:welcome:

I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list, so I'll add you to the January group.

I think I am finally caught up on all the posts over the past week and a half! PHEW!!!

If I have missed welcoming you or if you have a question that has been left hanging, please repost.

:)

Yahoo!!! Can't wait to try out the magic bands!

We are a family of 5. Must I request a day bed or will we automatically get one? I'd rather use my requests to ask for close to SAB, and higher floor.

See you soon!
Tricia

:welcome: back!

I don't think I have you on the Be Our Guest list, so I will add you.

:cool1:

Have the YC rooms been refurbed lately? We recently switched from Poly over to YC for next summer.

:welcome:

When is your trip next summer? Would you like me to add you to the Be Our Guest list?

:woohoo:

Does anyone know if a dessert from Yachtsman Steakhouse can be ordered next door at Crew's Cup Lounge? I have been wanting to try the peanut butter pretzel cake but don't want to eat at the Yachtsmans itself.

:welcome: to the thread!

:goodvibes

Do you have an upcoming trip or are you just visiting/dining at the resort?

BUMPING up your question- IDK the answer.
