Hi everyone! I need some BC/YC expert information! 4-What are your thoughts on the pool with a 5 year old? Is most of it shallow? One of her favorite parts of vacation is the pool, so SAB should be awesome for her, right?
Another

for you!
I think most of your questions were answered, but I thought I would give you some additional information about Stormalong Bay and the kiddie pool behind the slide.
There is a sandy portion of SAB, closest to the YC side, that is very shallow and has a sandbar where kids (and some adults) love to make sandcastles.
Other parts of SAB are deeper, I think in the 4 foot or so range, and parts of the lazy river are quite deep. 8 feet maybe.
There are pictures on the first page of this thread, Post 3, with pictures of the really nice kiddie pool area behind the stairs that lead you up to the Jib slide. I didn't even know about this until I was back from my second trip! The pool is shallow and there is a small slide.
Today was Halloween.
*snip*
Back at the hotel we decided to hit the pool for a bit, DD10 wanted to do the Halloween activities the BC had on so we only had about 45 mins in the pool.
Quick change into their Halloween costumes and we went trick or treating round the BC at 5pm, got picture taken with Halloween Minnie and Goofy, got loads of candy and a CM said to head over to the BW as they had parties on and more candy.
So over we went and wee were there till 8:30. They had loads of games with little prizes and candy, a DJ and dance parties, another picture with halloween Donald, we all agreed we had a really good time, DD10 said it was better than the
MNSSHP we did last time! Even DD2 was joining in with all the games, she's really come out her shell a bit now, we got a few good pictures.
We got the boat back to BC and have just watched Illuminations from our balcony with a nice cold Smirnoff ice! Lol
All in all we've had a really good day and the BC and BW Halloween activities were excellent.
Thanks again for your report and especially for the Halloween info. That is fantastic about the low crowds at MK that morning. And I haven't heard much about the Halloween activities at the BC/YC (or BW) so I really appreciate reading about it.
We checked-in on Wednesday late afternoon at BC. We did online registration and had no wait and assigned to XXXX. CM at the check-in said that both my request were met which were high-floors and full-sized balcony. Our room is around the corner from the long hall way but it's very quiet and almost never hear any foot traffic. We are overlooking the wooded area and on our left is BCV. Our room has daybed.
BC/YC set up halloween trick-or-treat trail along SAB for kids and Minnie and Goofy showed up in their halloween costumes with Photopass person. DS and DNeice enjoyed getting candies. They also joined marshmallow toasting. We had 8pm ADR at Narcoosee's and had a wonderful meal their and watched Hallows Wishes while eating our desserts.
Thanks so much for your report and for the additional Halloween info.
OK, that seals it. I
MUST get to the BC for my Halloween birthday! Next year is a milestone one... Hmmm...
Have a few questions about these balcony rooms. Sue M - I think you may have mentioned you stayed in one of these rooms. So, we (extended family) love, love, love YC and chose it every late August through a special with our TA but are only offered standard view. We noticed these oversized shared balconies while waiting for a bus in front of the YC one morning and I wanted to know if anyone had info on them. They seem larger and perfect if you are traveling in a group as they are shared balconies. I believe from what I've found they would be rooms 3076, 3078, 3080 & 3082???? My questions are, has anyone stayed in them? Is the view totally the parking area or at least tree tops as I believe this is the third floor - though this is not terribly important to us? Do these rooms have 2 Queens and a daybed in each? What would be our chances of actually acquiring all four (?) of these rooms for a week's vacation? We enjoy playing cards together and having a shared balcony for that and happy hours together would be fun. Thanks in advance. Ya'll are really wonderful to follow and this thread is my guilty pleasure though I am more of a lurker than a poster!
I'll pencil you in on the Be Our Guest list for late August.
That 3rd floor room layout is interesting. I thought all rooms at YC have full balconies, but that room layout points out 2 rooms with no balconies and 1 with a standing balcony. So I guess I should still request a full balcony on my reservation?
I am only aware of one room at the YC without a balcony, and that is a club level water view room (5163, maybe).
Does anyone know of any others?
The chance of not getting a full balcony at the YC is very small. I don't think you need to request one. If you happen to get a room without a balcony or with a standing balcony, you can always request another room.
We've been home for a week. I had to use that time to go through Disney Detox! We typically go through a Disney depression when we get home, however, not so bad this time. On the very first night in disney, DH was talking about "next year"

Ok, one more last thing!!

. I just looked into booking for next year (bounce back didn't run into October '14), and everything seems to have availability at BC, CL. If I book now could they cancel what I've booked based on remodel? Would they move me to another view/floor/resort? Just curious! Thanks!!
Pretty sure you would not be moved to another floor even if the club lounge renovation is still going on in October. Plans are to move the lounge to the Presidential Suite on the 5th floor and to keep rooms open. They will close off blocks of rooms at a time, but since the various room categories are dispersed throughout the floor, I don't think you are necessarily risking a view change. Except maybe Garden View, since there are so few of these rooms on club level.
Hope that helps!
Hi all!
I am wondering if there are rooms which have direct access to the quiet pool? To be more specific, my dream is it to walk directly out of the terrace door and to jump in the (quiet) pool. Are there any rooms - especially in the Beach Club - which make this possible?
And there is another question which bothers me: Because we are light sleepers - is there any noise around the quiet pool, perhaps caused by a circulation system or something different? I really hate constant noises when trying to sleep (yes, air conditioning is not my best friend).
Thanks for your help!
Katrin
