2012

Hey guys... Sorry for like blowing up on you for pointing out religion isn't allowed on the dis. I know you were just doing it for my own good.. and I kind of overreacted. I seriously didn't know it wasn't allowed on here, if I knew I would never write about it in any threads. And also that day I was like really upset over something.. I can't remember what, and I was like really emotional. So once again sorry guys.. Disney fans are my friends! So Igotta keep it cool with everyone. :)

Plus the Jonas Brothers have been to the year 3000

Busted went there first.
And I give them cool points for mentioning 'flux capacitor' in the song too. ;D
In the Busted one anyway, idk about the covers.

Busted were first to go to the Year 3000. The Jonas Brothers just copied them in a worse way :p

The Doctor's been to 2012 and nothing happened. Well, nothing Earth-destroying anyway. The Earth was still functioning well in 2059 and was pretty much the same as 2010. Hell, he went to the year five billion to see the Earth destroyed and by that time, everyone had moved to New Earth.

I don't believe in the world being destroyed in 2012. I haven't seen any actual evidence.

Oh yeah and Doctor Who's been further than 2012 as well. xD

I don't think it will.

With the whole Mayan calandar running out then.. honestly, I think they just ran out of room and didn't finish. lol.

And my thoughts of why I don't think it will end, are more religious than anything.. but I won't go into any of that! :)

I think a lot of people who are really afraid of this don't understand the Mayan Calendar. Mayans believed in time as a cycle that could repeat itself. Like there could be this amount of time spent at war, and you go to three wars so that is a cycle that repeats 3 times, and those 3 collective times are also considered one cycle. The mayan calandar ends a cycle in December of 2012. This means that they felt that there would be a change in time. It isn't an apocalypse most likely. They're just predicting a change of cycles. Like the beginning of a new war (one of the things they judged time by) or the discovery of something new.

A new Mayan Cycle will start in December 2012, but they didn't tell us what it was. A lot of math and science went into predicting their calendars, and Maya was at a war they were losing. Their resources were better used elsewhere. And now Maya is gone. No one will know until 2012 what the Next Cycle they predicted will be.

Read every post in this thread and was kind of shocked that it took so long to get to this:

Which is an excellent post, Sparx. :)

2012 is not the end of the Mayan calendar, and even if it was, it's not as if the world is going to "end." What would that entail, anyway? Getting blasted by the Death Star? Being sucked away by a black hole? It just doesn't make any sense and I don't understand why anyone gives the whole notion the time of day.

Like i said, if the Mayan's were that smart, they'd still be living..right? so, pretty much yeah.

I think it's a bunch of hooplah, personally. I know the world isn't ending.
Plus, Phil of the Future came back from 2121, right? ;)

I don't think it will.
My mom and I have joked about everything that's happened lately though..ie; all of the earthquakes, hurricanes, other natural disasters, etc. and we said because it's all happening simultaneously it very well could be a sign. Lol.

I think the Mayans planned to make a another calander to continue the first one, but didnt live long enough to make it thanks to the Conquistadors.

All generations think that the world will come to an end in their lifetimes. Look back through history and you'll find something about groups of people who believed the end was near popping up every 20-30 years.

I don't think so - and hope not :)! I think the Mayan's (sp?) just went on vacation :D!

i don't think it will i also find it stupid some people think it is going to!!! how did the myans or whoever even know and wth is up with thinking the gods told them if we can't have the gods talk to us how could they have????

Like i said, if the Mayan's were that smart, they'd still be living..right? so, pretty much yeah.

Actually the descendants of Mayans are still living today. I actually have a close friend who has Mayan heritage. And yeah, it was totes the Europeans who caused most of them to die. They had never seen weapons the likes of what the Conquistadors brought with them and the Mayans believed the Europeans were Gods. This allowed the Conquistadors to pretty much walk all over the Mayans and combined with diseases that the Mayans had no idea how to cobmat (look up the "Virgin Soil Epidemic", it's the same reason massive numbers of Native Americans were wiped out when Europeans "discovered" the "New" World) lead to their downfall. There are, in fact, still small pockets of people scattered around S. America that practice Mayan beliefs and who are their descendants.

Moving on:

Not gonna end. Really. Shelby said it already. The Mayans believed in a cycle system where things create a cycle and then they all start over again in a different way. Therefore unless we (humans) go and do something drastically stupid (like start a nuclear war or something) the world's probably gonna go on turning for quite a while longer (at least until the six billion years or so it'll take our sun to implode).

::yes::
Everyone freaked about 2000. They thought all the computers would crash because information wouldn't carry into the new millennium. 10 years later....were still here. What about 6-6-06. The devil returning? I saw no devil.

The thing i hate is that my geography teacher is all into how thé world is going to end and he is like teaching us religion he s'aider once (and this is exactly what hé said) "after thé world ends all thé Christians will come back and anyone else will Die becase they are evil!" i am not kidding hé did say that i havé it written down because hé told us to.

Religious discussion isn't allowed on the dis. It seems like you don't know this because you mention how you're "saved by god" on almost every thread.

that was rude...i am as well saved by God and just because (im assuming) you dont believe what we believe doesnt mean you have to put quotations around saved by God and be sarcastic...Sorry if you werent trying to be, I just think it would be nice if you re-read your posts...:confused3 That offends me a little....

Rude or not, religious discussion isn't allowed, and I believe it was in quotations to show someone else said it.
