what is everyone's opinion on the december 21, 2012 prediction? they're making a movie about it too..


i personally think that mass destruction will happen only if people drive themselves mad thinking about. otherwise, i don't really think anything "special" will happen.

I try not to think about it, but it does bother me. Like June 6th, 2006 I was paranoid all day. We went to Dorney Park for school incentive (honor rolls) and rode rides all day. Nothing broke down, nothing happened. But it still bothers me a bit, like "OMG what if it's real this time?!". Especially with that underground project in Switzerland (where they're trying to recreate the Big Bang or something) and the newly found LARGE black holes.

Then again, I'm naturally paranoid. The movie looks like a bunch off bull hockey though. The Day After Tomorrow, anyone?

I mean no religious controversey, but I believe only God knows when the world will end, because He knows all. But, that's just what I believe. I mean to impose this on no one. Personal belief only.

I was a bit paranoid on 6/6/06, too. But that's because some kids at my school had been talking about bringing in guns and stuff. Never happened. But it still freaked me out.

Were the Mayans amazing astronomers? (It is according to their calendar that the world will run out of time on 12/21/12) Yes, that's basically a fact. Some scientists would even argue they were more advanced than us in the field, although nearly all of their documents were destroyed long ago.

Do I believe the world will come to an end in 2012? Nope, not by a long shot.

And the movie isn't based on any prophecies or whatnot, its just another excuse to create an awesome, action-filled, apocalyptic movie. My guess is that the plot will be pretty bad, but the SFX are going to be mind-blowingly amazing. I'm definitely going to go see it!

I totally agree. We haven't had an apocalyptic movie in ages. What was the last one? I have no idea... I agree and I think it's just like the swine flu (sort of) People getting excited over something that may not happen or may not be what it seems.

Don't believe it. I trust in God. If that's the end of the world then it is. I'm not gonna stress about it. But I doubt it.

To be fair, does it matter if the whole world ends? EVERYONE will end with it, so it's not like you are being singled out/left alone.. If everyone dies at the same time - so what? It has to come some day!


I do have to say though, the movie does look good. I wouldn't mind seeing it...

I tend to get paranoid about these things too.... Like, If I switch to History Channel and there's something on about 12/21/12 I'll change channels. It freaks me out a bit.

But maybe the Mayans said something like "I'm bored of doing this" and quit. Who knows?

If not, maybe me and my friends can roam the universe in Limbo!!

IMHO, you're quite right! I believe God is the only one who knows when the world will end. No point in trying to predict it or stressing about it. I've read my Bible, and I am also prepared!!

Side note: I heard 2 ancient civilizations predicted the end in 2012. Aztecs or Mayans or whatever and who else? I just wanna know, though I know it doesn't really matter.
