2012 pricing and packages are released

Wow, another increase, imagine that. Well at least they are consistant - $5 a day increase. I believe that's what the increase has been for the last several years.

I am about priced out of Ft Wilderness. Looks like we might only do 10 days at the Fort and spend the rest of the time at an off-site campground. We stayed off-site in May and the cost savings was substantial.

I would agree with that. The budget can handle only so much and above $75 a night for any location is becoming a deal breaker. I normally look for the $30-$40 range. Will splurge for FW, but the trips will become fewer and farther between. It gets hard to justify to the wife, VS house offsite for same cost.

What is the name of the off-site campground? Also, what was the rate?

Thanks,

Oh they're real sneaky.

I was looking today comparing Value 2011 rates with Value 2012 rates when I noticed a change in the available dates.

In 2011 and in previous recent years, Value rates kicked in mid-August and lasted up till Thanksgiving week. Then the newer Pre-Holiday rates came on for early December until the Holiday rates kicked in.

Now in 2012 the Value rates start back in August but only go into very early October. The Pre-Holiday rate comes in to capture the splendid fall camping time (weather is wonderful) with the Halloween activities until Thanksgiving week, then Pre-Holiday resumes up until Holiday time. The jump from Value to Pre-Holiday for the weeks of October and November (up to Thanksgiving) is substantial percentage wise.

Who remembers the good old days when it was Value, Peak, and Holiday seasons? When the rate of the first day was the rate for your entire stay (enjoyed Christmas that way)? I'm shooting for more Value trips in the future myself.

FYI Can't book Christmas week 2012 till August. I just tried it and the lady on the phone said too far out.
