2012? No Problem...but when?

Oh no. So sorry to hear that your grandprincess is so sad about her foot. She seemed to be able to deal with the physical pain but obviously this is all getting to her. Poor little thing.

I hope you get that quilt finished soon and your laptop fixed.

Enjoy your 4th

Nini - I am so sad about your Granprincess... I wish her Drs would get this figured out - it's just so disheartening. (((Hugs)))

I did stop by to wish you a Happy 4th of July... I hope you all have a wonderful day today!

D~

We have a family tradition. The 'official' countdown starts at the 20 week point. And guess what...that is TODAY!

For the next twenty weeks we will have one family activity or 'something' Disney to do to mark the number of weeks. At the 60 day mark we start doing one thing a day....

At the 99 day mark (or the 100 day mark...depends on how the calendar and Dad's schedule work out) we will go to the Dollar theater (which is actually TWO dollars....who knew!?) to watch a second run Disney movie, go out for Pizza, and talk about Disney 'stuff'! LOL!

We are ll excited about the countdowns... and this year I am adding some Disney trivia questions to th mix!

Nini

THat sounds like so much fun Nini!!! Congrats on 20 weeks!

I just wanted to send :grouphug: {{{{hugs}}}} to your grandprincess. I am so so sad that she is having a rough time of it.

Chiara (and all...)

Grand Princess starts school on Aug 3. Her doctor has PROMISED that she will NOT be wearing the pump on the first day of school! (since her private school is not handicapped accessible they could not accommodate her). She has also been promised a return trip to the beach as soon as the pump is removed and the doctor approves her getting in the ocean water.
She has taken on a new attitude about the whole process now...and while she doesn't want anyone to look at her foot without a thick bandage on it (and still refuses to walk on it...she is afraid it will hurt) she is looking forward to starting school.

I am a bit concerned that while she can flex her ankle and can wiggle her toes, she still doesn't seem to have any real feelings in her foot yet. Her doctor doesn't want to start physical therapy until there is some feeling in it. Of course, right now the Princess is still in the afraid mode and won't let anyone touch it.... Having the boot off is strange to her right now, it usually takes a week or two after a change for her to feel confident again.

Another concern, for me at least, is the fact that this foot is now a good two inches (if not more) smaller than her other foot. A lot of that been muscle loss, which is why I am so worried about starting PT. The reason they decided to do this before she started school was so she would not walk funny and be teased by kids at school...but if she has a straight foot and STILL walks funny I will feel this was totally not a good idea.

(Of course, this is MY baby and I would have to pull a Mama Bear on any kid that was mean to her!)

But thanks for everyone's concerns, good thoughts, and prayers. While the last 4 months has really been a long road, it could have been much, much worse. The infection she had developed at first was the same family as the flesh eating bacteria that the college student, Aimee Copeland, had that cost her both legs and one hand at the same time that Alyssa was going through her ordeal. In fact the doctor that was consulted on the Princess' case was the same doctor that was handling her case. (sorry, the grammer on that sentence was pretty bad!) We know we could be looking at something much worse right now if it were not for the Grace of God. We are very thankful that it only cost us a bit of time and muscle....

(sorry...the tears are very free flowing right now. That is the first time I ever wrote that down... while it was always on our minds and that of her doctor's I tired to ignore that aspect of what we were going through. When I previously wrote we were afraid she was going to loose her foot... her foot was not all we were afraid of loosing.

I was going to post a picture of the Princess...but realized all my pictures are currently on my dead computer. So I found a picture on Photbucket of her first visit to Disney. we were Family of The Day at Chef Mickey's. Here is a picture of her and Miss B posing with Mickey before the restaurant opened up.

And as we all know I am terrible at posting pictures on DIS...so maybe it will post and maybe not!

For the moment, all is right with my little corner of the world.

When we first returned home from our beach vacation, we found our water heater had died (got that fixed); our vacuum had died (bought a new cheapie one) and our washer AND dryer decided to die. Yesterday, my new Front loading HE washer and matching dryer, complete with pedestals were delivered! I am almost a little sad that there is no more laundry to be done...I ended up washing about 7 or 8 loads yesterday. I was walking around on cloud nine all morning (see, it really doesn't take much to make me happy!)

But the most awesome news came at about 11:30 (or somewhere around that time). I was waiting for news about the Grand Princess. It was her weekly trip into the OR to have her dressings changed on her pump. When I finally got that text from my son telling me the wonderful news, I was screaming at the top of my lungs!

The left the hospital without the Wound Vac!

There is still a small plug of skin missing from her foot, but there is finally tissue over the bone! We have no more exposed bone!

We know that she will probably have to have the pump put back on when she goes back in on Monday, but for at least a few days she is pump free!

I was originally trying to be very optimistic that we wouldn't have to have it put back, but after only a few hours, the wound was still very oozy and had soaked through three bandages. (I think my son and daughter in law have cornered the market on gauze and tape! They left a gigantic box at my house for me)

The surgeon promised she was going to start school being able to walk into class without the pump. (and now she knows that since Grandpa promised the Princess a do over trip to the beach.....there is more incentive! Yes, we know she probably won't be able to go to the beach until Spring, but we are hoping to get her in the pool before we have to close it down in a few months!)

All in all we are very content and happy right now.

The Disney planning is on and in earnest...and I have been collecting Disney trivia for our count down calendar. I am working on getting that and our planner book done in the coming few weeks...of course I still have a quilt, two launch dresses and one dress for the Grand Princess to wear to Be Our Guest and about 70 more shirts to do...but hey, I am not happy unless I am stressing about SOMETHING!

Nini

WOW how scary that must have been. I knew the infection was serious but didn't realize how bad it is. So happy to know that she is finally on the mend.

I missed your post with the picture - ADORABLE!!!!

I am so thankful that your Grandprincess is doing better, and I pray she continues to improve! (((Hugs)))

So, today was our official 19 week mark and our first adult trivia went out...that was an EPIC FAIL! LOL!

I read the question, thought to myself, this is an easy one, we will start with that... Question was: What villain sang the song "Poor Miserable Souls"? The answer was Ursula in Little Mermaid.

Right...did you catch that too? I didn't. Of course, my DIL, whose favorite movie of all time is Little Mermaid... responded almost as soon as I sent it. She won...but wait. My smart aleck daughter googled it and informed me it could not be Ursula...since she sang "Poor UNFORTUNATE Souls"!

So, I had to award points to both of them...and then all the guys complained that they should get points as well! Then my DIL informed me that since I had already declared her the winner...and Googling the answer was CHEATING I should disqualify my daughter!

Right...these are the ADULTS playing this game! LOL!

So, with the next week's trivia, I will google the answer, verify it at least three times and then post it! LOL! Funny thing is I got the question from the official Disney Trivia game.

Tonight, the kids and the grand Princess are having a spend the night at my house, so we had our Pizza and now they are watching Tangled (maybe we should have watched Little Mermaid....)

Nini

I say, from now on, you give us the question here first - we will give you the correct answer. ;)

I love watching Tangled - it's one of Disney's best - IMO... Have fun tonight. :)

What a sweet photo (nothing like a sweet potato :rotfl2: .)

I'm not sure why you have to go to Disney World, seems like your part of the world has been enough of a roller coaster lately. (That's supposed to come across as witty, I hope it doesn't come across as mean. Humor doesn't always translate well.)

Hope things have finally settled down for you. (Even as I typed that I knew it was a long shot.)

And as we all know I am terrible at posting pictures on DIS...so maybe it will post and maybe not!

Nini

Hmmmmm.

So if I read between the lines does that mean EVENTUALLY you'll post some photos of the pool party decorations or chances are slim2nothing you'll post photos?

:scratchin

Cheryl...

Actually, I consider things to be rather tame these days! ( And I found it to be quite humorous! )

Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures of the pool party decorations... sorry. It was a blast, but 'someone' had played with my camera and the batteries died. Hubby went to the store to get some fresh batteries...but was gone forever (or so it seemed) and when he came back he had forgotten the batteries!

A couple of people took some pictures of the beach towels, but I'm not sure how to post pictures from facebook that are not my own. Hmm...maybe I'll see if I can figure out how to do that.

(the main reason I hate to post pictures here, is first I have to upload them to photobucket, and then load them here. By the time I get them loaded on both places...SOMETHING always goes wrong! (usually it is because I pick the wrong file to load here!)

That picture of the Princess is from three trips ago! She was only 2 at the time. I suppose I really should look for a more recent picture of her to post.....

Nini

I am supposed to be taking advantage of everyone being asleep to get some stuff done. I am seriously behind on EVERYTHING! I am a week and a half behind on my trip shirts; I was supposed to deliver the quilt from Heckie Pooh last week (but had to rip out all the quilting and redo); and I have two launch dresses that are weeks away from being finished!

My son just texted me. The grand Princess has another date with her surgeon this morning. They took the wound vac off last Wednesday. They were planning on reinserting it today. (Boo!) When the surgeon came back...she said it looked so much better than she thought it would. This 'may' be her last time going into surgery! If there is no new infection, and the skin has completely covered the wound....we get to leave that stinky disgusting machine at the hospital for GOOD!

As of 3 minutes ago, they had just taken her back to the OR. I am too scared to even breath right now!

Nini

Great news!!!1

No more surgery and no more Wound Vac! She just needs to get the confidence to start walking on it again!

Not so great news!

My embroidery machine is in dire need of a check up! It is on its way back to the spa (although this WILL be its first time there...)

Nini

Let's see...news on the Disney planning front... well, my daughter and her husband are not going to be going with us after all. (She is having to have semi-emergency gall bladder surgery on Tuesday and is using up all her off time with that...they don't differentiate between sick and vacation time at the city!)

So, we are back down to only 8 going on this trip. Of course, I probably 'should' change some of our ADRs from 5 to 4...but we all know it is not necessary, so I probably won't bother.

Since my daughter will no longer be going, she isn't involved in the Disney Trivia question each Friday. So, there should be no drama with this week's question.

The question is" True or False...'One Little Spark' is from Universe of Energy in Epcot"... and the answer is False...it is from Journey into Imagination with Figment!

To me, this is easy peasy...it is Mr D's favorite character!

For the past couple of years I have been playing around with the idea of becoming a Travel Agent that specializes in Disney. Up until now I have spent my 'free' time sewing and quilting. These past few weeks have been really rough in the sewing department. I don't get the enjoyment that I usually get. It has become too much like a job and not the creative outlet that it used to be.

So...yesterday I formally applied to be a Disney Travel Agent. I have a gigantic packet that I am filling out and have to send back on Monday. I still won't know for a while if I have been accepted, but it is really giving me a ton of excitement! I haven't done a resume in almost 10 years...and I have to say mine is a bit rusty!

As I told my husband, it will be easier to take a laptop into the waiting rooms with Mr D than to take my embroidery machine!

It is after 10pm and I turn into a pumpkin by 10:30...

Nini

Well, it seems my girls are always trying to out do each other in something! LOL!

Last night my DIL started having some severe pains in her lower chest/upper tummy area. It came on very sudden! She was fine at 9pm when I last saw her, and by 9:30 they were rushing her to the hospital. My son got off work early to take her to the ER. We live pretty close to the hospital (maybe 2 miles) so they took the Grand Princess with them. At midnight, I got a call from my Son. They were going to run more tests (either an ultra sound or an MRI...can't remember now) and the Grand Princess could not stay with them, so he brought her over to my house.

At 4:30, my son texted me to let me now they were going to admit her. He said it was pancreatitis and kidney stones. He was going home to get some rest and The Princess was staying at my house for the night and he would pick her up after a nap.

This morning, my DIL posted on Facebook that she was diagnosed with appendicitis and possible gall bladder problems, and were keeping her for a few days.

Not sure which is right...my son was half asleep last night, and my DIL is on pain meds this morning! Either way, we won't be doing the Disney Trivia game today... and it looks like both my girls will be in the hospital at the same time ...maybe both having their gall bladders removed? What are the chances of that!?!?

Sleepy....

Grumpy later on...

(wonder if I can do all 7 dwarves in 24 hours?)

Hooray for great news.

Yarooh (hooray spelled backwards, so therefore the opposite of hooray) for your embroidery machine. They like to keep us guessing about when they'll hiccup don't they?

I knew the Figment question. My son's favorite, too.

I understand about switiching from stitching. I'll forever toy with the idea of selling, but every time I think about it I realize I would like to make more than 50¢ an hour for my time. With your experience being a Disney TA is a natural.

Track (Saratoga) season starts today and one year I worked as a betting clerk, but didn't apply this year since I was voiceless. Maybe I'll do something at Christmastime. One year I worked at Macy's and really enjoyed it. (I was a stocker, not cashier, so didn't have to deal with frantic and frenzied shoppers.)

I thought I grabbed the quote about your DIL. My roommate at the hospital was in for an append---(I'll never spell it right, to have her appendix removed). Hope it's a relatively routine procedure for your DIL.

Cheryl,
Thanks for your comments...I thought I had grabbed the quote but I guess not! (one of THOSE days again!)

I have decided to pull out of the Main Street Boutiques launch this time around. My machine had that tiny hiccup...messed up two panels of my outfits, and ended up putting me about 2 weeks behind. Then, my DIL being in the hospital has put me even more behind. Having the Princess almost 24/7 has made it almost impossible to get any sewing time in.

I really hate backing out, but even if I could get it rushed in time, I refuse to sell anything less than perfect. So...it is one of the few times I have EVER backed out of anything!

My DIL is in for more testing this morning. They will decide when they are taking out her gall bladder. She has numerous stones and 'sludge' but they think the gall bladder might still be functioning...just not right. Insurance makes them run every test imaginable before they will approve it!

They are holding an OR for her this afternoon...and also have one available in the am. (my daughter has hers taken out at 10 am tomorrow.) I am hoping for tomorrow for both of them so I can spend only one day at the hospital instead of two!

We have been looking at videos from MVMCP all morning. So far the Magic Memories and You show is running in a dead tie with Holiday Wishes among the girls. Mr D has no opinion!

I have checked with our Travel Agent to make sure that we are ok if they have to back out on their trip...since we are piggie backing on their PIN. (I know how expensive doctor bills can be!) Disney has said that since the free dining promotion is for the same dates as their PIN, we are ok. No need to change the code. So I feel better not putting any extra stress on them.

Back to Disney planning...it is one of the few things I can do while the Princess is here...seems if I go down stairs to work, she gets upset. She is really having some serious separating anxiety right now!

Nini

 I saw that you were not doing the launch this time. You have so much going on right now and with your machine not working right I don't blame you.

Sounds like your little princess just needs some one on one with her grandmother:goodvibes
