2012? No Problem...but when?

Hmmm... Unexpected followers...

OK everyone - keep it clean - we don't want to cause any trouble for Nini... After all, she is soooo nice to us. :lovestruc

D~

LOL...nothing like that...I said something un-nice about someone...and then she emailed me a couple hours later...seems she knew what I had said...

I have to remember that it is an open forum...and anybody can read this!

Nini

Now, there's a brilliant idea...
D~

Aw, shucks.

.... will commence as soon as possible! I really don't think you like me unless you threadjack at least once a week...so if everyone does that each week for the next seven months, I should have a pretty interesting PTR!

Today is the seven month mark...I am so seriously behind on my sewing. Just as I thought it was safe to get back in the studio again, I start feeling this bronchitis coming back. I'll be going back to the doctor tomorrow... I knew it was too good to be true. I've never been able to kick bronchitis with only one round of antibiotics!

I have discovered that I have some unexpected followers of my PTR... so I have to be careful of what I write from now on. (don't worry...it is not bad...just not great...)

Unfortunately, I can't remember whose turn it is to threadjack now...so I'll leave a sign up sheet in the foyer...please sign with the day you want to be in charge of and I will make a chart. It will be posted on the fridge next to the chores chart...of course, if you want to put your name on the chores chart...I won't mind! (we had to fire the maid... she was not doing a very good job and I had to keep redoing everything!):rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Nini

Let me get my palm pilot so I know my schedule, then I'll sign up to do some threadjacking.

:dance3:

Let me see if I remember how to do this threadjacking stuff. I know Andrea could use the money if I need some tutoring.

Here's the "quilt for children in distress" that I'm going to turn in tomorrow. I LOVE this pattern. It was definitely made for someone like me who has a hard time getting FOUR corners to meet in the same place.

quilts006.jpg

Here's the one I'm still working on -- I won't be making it again for this project. Too time consuming and not quite as forgiving as the first one. When I finished I realized it's smaller than they like. What do you think about adding the darker pink polka dot border? If I do should it be the same width all the way around or can I made it wider on the top and bottom (which is where I need additional length). Thoughts Nini-the-Quilter???

quilts001.jpg

And since I  polka dots, here's the wallet I made for my trip.

quilts007.jpg

Tri-fold to fit in my front pocket.

quilts008.jpg

Slots for room key, gift card, credit card, license, and insurance card.

quilts009.jpg

Money holder and hidden pocket for bigger bills.

quilts010.jpg

Special holder for the room safe key.

quilts011.jpg

Coin purse for all the gold dubloons I carry.

When I finished FIRST I thought it had a couple wonky parts :scared1: and then I realized the wallet isn't wonky, it's a PROTOTYPE. I'll use it this trip to see what needs to be modified for future trips! ::yes::

Repeat after me, "It's not wonky, it's a prototype. It's not wonky it's a prototype . . . . . ."

Yeah for 7 months to go! Hope you are feeling better soon.

cheryl - your quilts are wonderful, I'm quite impressed with your quilting skills (and your threadjacking ability). Your wallet looks great! :thumbsup2

Cheryl... Both of those quilts are amazing!!! I dunno how you all do it - I can't imagine working with something so big!

The wallet is awesome! How clever to have a hidden pocket! I really like it and - honestly - I doubt you'll have to change a thing with it. :)

D~

Thanks. I couldn't have done it without Andrea's tutelage.

You're too kind. My quilts are quite small. Nini does KING size ones. Now that's amazing!!!

I am in awe of people who quilt. Love the wallet it is so cute.

Thanks. I travel light so I need a functional wallet.

:wave2: Nini. Feel free to post if there's anything you want to tell about your trip.

I came to see what Nini was up to, but see she has stopped threadjacking Cheryl's ptr.

I don't think Nini posts very much on your ptr, so I will give you my opinion on the quilts. I love the bright colors on the first one :) And I like the darker pink border on the second one and think it is perfectly acceptable to make it wider at the top and bottom.

Your wallet is awesome but most of the bills are supposed to be sent to me.

Where's a photo of your undies?

**makes a mess on the floor**

I have to ask...how do you get so much money at your ummm...resting place? I thought they made you leave all your money on the other side of the barbed wire (although beautifully landscaped ) fenced in area.... Maybe I DO need to come visit you!

Oh Cheryl...I forgot to sign up for a date ....

OK...for those of you who use Touring Plans...How often do they update their info? I just put my dates in a day or so ago and I already have an email telling me the numbers changed and the best park is no longer recommended and a worst park is now recommended... how do you keep up...especially when you have to switch your days around. I only have 4 weeks until I do my ADRs...do they change much after that?

I also am looking for some new crocs for the park...and since I am cheap...my way of looking is to see what is on clearance or sale on the website and then go to the outlet! I actually found a couple on the sale website...so now I have to convince hubby that we need to go to the mall. Since he is not a mall person, this may be a challenge!

I also managed to finish the applique on my daughter's outfit for Coral Reef. She is letting me do a semi dress...in other words, I am making a Stripwork Jumper in a top instead of a dress. We are having some creative differences on which fabrics should go where. I like the blue for the bodice and she prefers the orange. Now I can see orange if she had chosen a Nemo applique on the skirt...but she chose Squirt. (and she chose a stripe fabric for Squirt to live on ...and I don't think he shows up very well at all!)

Still waiting to hear back from my friend on some issue of touring before I can set my plans in stone. We have tweaked and changed the parks again...but I am not sure this one will work...so I am waiting to talk with her after she has a chance to talk with her hubby and kids. Something about having two kids with pink eye (one being only 4 months old) that is causing some sort of a problem and making Disney go on the back burner...personally I don't get it!

They constantly review their data and they make changes when they notice park hour changes, special events, etc.

I've gotten 23 emails so far, however, MOST of them were crowd updates. There was only one or two that switched parks around on me, and I don't think it even affected my plans. So their info is pretty accurate ... but if something happens and Disney schedules more parades or shows for a night, then they may recommend it as a BAD park instead of Good. :thumbsup2

Now that I say this, you'll trust their information and Murphy's Law will kick in. :headache:

Honestly, it's generally pretty good ... however, go with your instinct and be prepared to be flexible if needed. :thumbsup2

It's nice that someone repects her elders! (I think I'm a few months older than Nini.)

I always go for brighter colored fabrics for the kids, too. It surprises me how "old lady" some of the quilts are.

Off to sew the border. :thumbsup2

Your wallet is awesome but most of the bills are supposed to be sent to me.

EXACTLY!!! And that's why I've been trying to get D~'s address. I know she has your address so I thought the most expeditious way to get you the money would be to send it to her so she could forward it to you!

Where's a photo of your undies?

I'm looking for that wrinkle remover button you used. You do want a photo with me modeling them, right?

There's always time for the important things in life.

I've got most of them for Feb and March but there may be an opening late April.

Just a quick review -- orange and blue are my college colors (GO Syracuse!) so my input probably won't be helpful.

You're right -- Disney or playing nursemaid. A no-brainer.

I have found a new hobby to keep me busy, reading PTR's and TR's, so I am joining in. :goodvibes I find it interesting the different ways everyone approaches their trips and I have learned something new about WDW from every PTR/TR I have read so far.

Nini, I have to say you are an amazing woman. I can't even begin to imagine how I would cope with everything you have went through. My hat is off to you for caring for your kids as you do and I hope that everything works out in the end.

Yesterday, while Mr D was in one of his therapy sessions...we realized something important...and funny.

He knows that he had another 'mom'. He knows she is either in jail or probably dead. He said he didn't really care which... (he doesn't remember her)

He decided I am too mean. (I am the main disciplinarian. Dad lets him have his way too much!) He decided that Dad must have been the constant in his life, since no one ever talks about his 'other dad'. So, evidently, at some point, Dad got him a new mom....me!

He told his Dad that they need to find a new mom because the one he has is too mean.

His older brother thinks it is hilarious. He said he was going to tell him they are going to a new store that just opened up..."Moms R Us"!

Hmm...not sure if they are in the market for a new mom or not...I better keep my eyes open!

This had me giggling quite a bit. MOMS R US too funny.

Eeks! I hope he doesn't tell my kids about Moms R Us. I have ben called "yelly - yelly" even though I'm the one in the house that lets them get away with everything -- dh is the strict one.

Oh my goodness....what a hoot...a new Mom. That was a funny story. You just never know what kids are going to come up with...

I had told my granddaughters that Papa (my husband) was coming to see them today because he's home too since it's school vacation week (he's a teacher). They kept asking me from 7:30 a.m. until he finally arrived around 2:30 p.m. "When is Papa coming? Why isn't he here, yet?" They start screaming that Papa has arrived and jumping up and down. As soon as he walked into the house they said Hi to him and then went off to play in the other room. Just before he decided to leave for home then came back in and talked to him a little .... they are very shy:)

Hope you get caught up on your sewing and hope you feel better soon!!!!

OK...so I should not panic...much! LOL! I just like to make my plans once...and then stress about all the small details until we leave. It seems like the major plans have changed so much so far this trip that I feel like something terrible is happening! Well, maybe not.

Even hubby is getting his own kind of paranoia with this trip. We had planned on getting $3000 worth of Gift Cards from Sams (you know the ones with the 10 dollar gift cards for the Disney Store?) so I could have a Disney Store shopping trip before we go... now he is afraid something might happen and we wouldn't go and he would be out the money... I'm pretty sure if that happens, we just pay off the trip and then if we cancel prior to the 45 day mark we can get the money back...

I don't know Cheryl...I think I have a few months on you... just so you know...I'm coming up on our 35th anniversary...and I have a 34 year old. Of course, being only 18....

Hand modeling...hmmm... nope I don't think I could pull that off...I have very old lady hands!

I have found a new hobby to keep me busy, reading PTR's and TR's, so I am joining in. :goodvibes I find it interesting the different ways everyone approaches their trips and I have learned something new about WDW from every PTR/TR I have read so far.

Thanks...the Steamboat Willie was one of my favorites as well. I've been asked many times to recreate it...but it is one of those that took so long to make (I used to think I was pretty good at math...but trying to draft that pattern in two sizes...and then my DD deciding to develop a few 'curves' and hers had to be redone!) made it a very long, long, long experience!

This had me giggling quite a bit. MOMS R US too funny.

Yup...never a dull moment around here!

Rats... there was a couple more I was going to grab, but I guess not!

I have to say...my older kids, who know the bio mom, all think it is hilarious that he thinks Dad would have ANYTHING to do with her!

Yesterday, Miss B had another trip to the beauty shop. My lovely daughter is beautiful, but she is a tom boy! BIG TIME! She thinks 'fixing' her hair is just pulling it back in a pony tail and going. A comb or brush rarely see her hair! She does love to wash it...but nothing else. As a result of the neglect her hair has seen recently, it has all broken off terribly. Dull, brittle, broken hair with each hair a different length.

I am going to attempt to post a picture of the way it now looks. My daughter does NOT smile for pictures! However, last night, she could not stop smiling. I think she really, really likes it.

I'm posting it from Facebook...so maybe it will work...and maybe not!

Hopefully that worked... if not I guess I'll keep trying!
