2012? No Problem...but when?

Vent...

Sorry, but I can't really post this on my personal page and I feel the need to vent...and probably delete afterwards!

I just got a 25 page packet from Division of Child Support Services from the State of GA. Evidently it has taken the state of GA almost 10 years to discover that I have the kids and not their bio mom! The state was notified on 02/03 that my kids are now being cared for by a non parent custodial. This is not new! The state placed them in my custody.
The last time we got something similar, I was able to call and they deleted the request for information since bio dad is in prison. (although it was only a post card telling me there was an open case).

So I called, and after 12 minutes and 43 seconds (yes, I checked) the call was answered by a lady who treated me like I was an idiot. She told me I could call around and find an attorney that would help me in filling out the forms, or I could go by the office and make an appointment for assistance in filing out the paperwork. I don't need help in the actual paperwork...I just want to know why, after all this time, I am having to do this. Should I be concerned that bio mom is trying to come back in the picture?

I am a nervous wreck...I have a reoccurring dream that she comes back to get the kids. The bad thing is...I have no idea on 99 % of the information...since it doesn't apply to our situation.

Of course, it is also a bit upsetting that it took the state 10 years to figure out they gave me the kids... I guess it is no wonder the government is in the state it is in...I hate red tape.

OK...now to go and pull out all our paperwork and make sure everything is in order.

And I will try not to worry! I will try not to Worry! I will NOT worry!

I'm worried.

Nini,

I absolutely, positively cannot imagine the torment you are currently going through and all of the thoughts that are bouncing around in your head. I won't offer any 'it'll all work out' platitudes because I know that's not very helpful right now, but I will tell you that I will keep your situation in my thoughts and prayers.

It is beyond belief that you have to deal with this situation. I hope you get it all straightened out VERY soon. In the mean time feel free to vent.

Vent away and relieve the stress.

I am going to pray things work out with as little stress to you as possible. I can't believe it has taken 10 years. LOVELY (said in my most sarcastic NY accent)

Evidently I lied...it is only 15 pages.

Of course two of those pages are asking about court ordered visitation. I think I'm gonna be sick!

Both bios are convicted child molesters.

I have a call in to the attorney and have prayed. Not much else I can do at this moment.

I wish there was something I could say to make this better for you, I just cannot imagine what you are going through. You will be in my thoughts and prayers, and please keep us updated if you can.

Oh Nini, so sorry to hear about these family issues you are having...I hope you can find the help you need to keep everything and everyone in your family safe. Will say a prayer for you all. :grouphug:

Hubby thinks I am worrying before I need to, however he did think it was a good idea to meet with the attorney before we fill out the paper work. Appointment is booked for Thursday morning. (although we only have 7 days to respond, he said he can request a continuance if the paper work is going to take more than one visit to complete.)

Evidently, the state doesn't get around to trying to recoup their money from the bio parents unless...a request is filed by one of the bio parents for either visitation or other rights ... the parent tries to claim the child as a dependent for tax purposes...the parent files a state income tax return...and in some case in election years. The3y all seem to think it is because it is an election year...but no one else local has gotten one yet.

My husband ( a police officer that works closely with DFACS) is going to try and see if he can swing by their office to day to see if they know anything. If Bio Mom has filed for child visitation they are supposed to contact us first, since there is documented evidence that it is detrimental to their well being... as well as documented evidence of threats from bio dad...

It may be simply that they are trying to find out where we live. Even though we have not moved since we got the permanent custody. If this is bio parent instigated, we will probably go ahead and attempt the adoption proceedings ... since the only reason we haven't is we don't want bios to find out that Mr D has any money from the accident. I am not so much worried about bio dad, since we get notified whenever he is up for parole...and I double check each month to make sure he is still locked up!

(is this enough drama for you...it IS for me!)

I so need a Disney break! I wonder if I can swing a quick trip today? Probably not, but the next best thing is to check out the videos on Netflix from the Travel Channel! Anyone want to join?

:wave2: Pick me! Pick me! I'll join.

:3dglasses I have one "Seasons of Disney" show from the Travel Channel that I DVRed and have watched more times than I can remember. The other night I watched a homemade (not by me, I got it on eBay) video of Fantasmic at Disneyland.

:cool2: I know I was a WDW last year at this time because I got to see the Super Bowl MVP in the Magic Kingdom parade. (Probably someone who follows football would have been more excited than I.)

Here's today's quilting question. :flower3:

I'm probably getting too big for my britches, because I thought I could handle putting corners in the borders of my current for-church-quilt. So if you can picture it, I finished the quilt top, put a border along one side, but I wanted to have a different fabric for the corners. The side I started sewing at was easy, I just added the corner block before I started sewing. I didn't add the block that would be at the end where I finished because I wanted to make sure it lined up perfectly. (me + perfect = :rotfl2:) I sewed just about the entire length of the border and then I tried to add the corner block. It wasn't the foolproof plan I envisioned. Should I have just measured the strip I was using for the binding and added the corner blocks to each end.

Sorry if I gave you a  trying and understand the read the above paragraph.

Always easier to measure first.... if I am putting a different color square on all 4 corners, I measure the first side, subtract the amount for the squares plus seam allowance, cut the main border and add the squares on both ends. After putting that one on, I do the next three sides by adding the square to one end of the border and just sew and cut when I come to the previous square. Does that make sense?

Basically you put on , say, the bottom, then do the left, but start at the top and sew towards the bottom. Then do the top, sewing from the right towards the left....

OK, that might have been even more confusing...'cause now I'm confused! LOL!

Thanks for the quick reply.

Your method is what I figured must be correct when my foolproof method didn't come through. I thought maybe I had outsmarted the quilting gods, but I guess they got me.

popcorn:: Now . . . what Disney video are we going to watch? I haven't ordered the "Vacation planning DVDs" in a long time because they always seemed so similar. Maybe it's time to get them.

Nini - I love how I always learn something new when I read your PTR. :) Not that I quilt or anything, but I still love it.

Still thinking about you and praying for you. (((Hugs)))

We like to watch the ones from the Travel channel. Those are always fun! Of course we have seen them so many times now the kids actually look for the rides and attractions that are changed.

We get them on Netflix through the Xbox. (or sometimes on the computer)

Well, my machine saga is not over! It is dropping tiny black oily spots all over every thing I work on. I have spent almost the past week working on plain muslin so I wouldn't waste any good fabric. I have been spot free for over 24 hours, so I tried the onesies that are for a baby shower gift this weekend. Now I have managed to ruin all three of them with black oily spots. I didn't notice it on the first two until I saw the big spot on the third...yup the other two have it too.

I guess I get to go to Walmart and purchase something cute for the baby now. I haven't given a store bought baby shower gift in YEARS! Of course, if I don't go to the shower I can give myself another week to get something made!

I will be glad when this week is over! It has not been a nice week...

I didn't realize you could do that. (My husband's Netflix subscription just ran out. Between the two of us we're almost at the beginning level of low tech.)

:sad1: Not fair!

:teacher: Thank you to Andrea for the tutorial on threadjacking.

While I'm waiting for some fabric to dry, let me see if I can get the hang of threadjacking. . .

Here's my quilt top. I tried to take the photo out of focus, but my camera wouldn't cooperate. It's a disappearing 9 patch (you probably could tell that) and a BIG step up for me from last year when I just did "I spy" quilts - same sized squares all different fabrics. The church group has an amazing hoard of fabric -- it makes it almost fun.

In Disney related news, Squeaky AKA Missy AKA Kitty is enjoying a "cat and mouse" nap.

Threadjacking is fun. :dance3:

You do it well, Cheryl! LOL

Really like the quilt. What color are you going to use for the backing? I like to use flannel, makes it nice and soft!

I've never made a disappearing 9 patch... but I have made a turning twenty...which looks very similar...

Nini

NinI I am so sorry your machine is giving you problems.

Cheryl I enjoyed your hijack. The quilt is absolutely lovely
