2012 Free Dining Dates...?

I booked a trip for Sept 27, 2012 til Oct 5, 2012. I was able to get free dining at the POR. I'm a US resident.

I am not Canadian, and I went through the process of booking a Sept. trip up until the final step where you actually book it. It was giving me free dining (quick service, as we're staying at a value resort) with the final cost!

I sent the link and info to my TA to make sure it's legit for me to book, and asked her to book the trip if I get FD now. I'll update when I hear back from her.

ETA: My TA said it was a good catch on my part that I read the code is meant for Canadians. I ended up not booking, in the hope that there may be a BB for us to use. Shoot.....It would have been nice to have had a code today. Maybe something magical is around the corner, though....

When I used that link, it gave me rack rates with no free dining.

I spoke with a CM and she said that it will not book it even though it looks like it will.

Did you do that online? If yes, that's why I chatted with the cm bc on-line was allowing me to check for a reservation using the Canadian FD offer. He said that on-line doesn't check residency. As others have posted if you used someone else's pin code & at check in they look at your id and you don't have the name, they'll charge you rack rates. I would hate for you to check in and they see you live in the US and charge you for dining. That's why cm said to call to do the offer til Sept to be sure I qualified.

My Mom called and was told those dates were for Canada and Latin America residents and even though it "looked" as though it went thru online it would be caught and she would be charged full price for the dining plan so please make sure it's the real deal so there are no surprises later.

I can finally post! I tried to log in this morning but of course the site was having issues.

I called on my lunch break and was able to add the free dining to my package!!! In my room we saved just over $1400 and my brothers room saved just over $900

We are all very happy with the outcome. :O)

Thank goodness for you people on Dis Boards. I was looking at the site yesterday and thought I would have to wait till mid month to get free dining for next summer. Booked it this morning. I can't wait! Thanks guys

We are thinking about Disney next summer in June but we want to try to get free dining. Do you think we have any hope in this?...haha. There will be 6 of us going. I have looked at the site and it is for Canada. My husband is a military contractor but he doesn't get the military discount which really stinks. If anyone knows of anything I would be very grateful if you notify me or post. Thanks so much!! Gals, you all are wonderful.

Now, I just tried the link above and it allowed me to put in 8/19-8/25/2012 with no problem and it included regular dining at POR. Now, my travel dates are for mid June 2012 but now I may consider changing them if and only if I get 2 confirmations from the CRO and my AAA TA. I forwarded the info to her via an email. I will keep you guys posted. I want Free Dining too or a great pin for June but gosh darn it...I draw the line at changing my nationality or moving to a latin american country to get it.

I will have to wait to get the free DDP since they will not apply it to my reservation, yet. They keep telling me that it is not available for my stay dates yet and that the people that are booking anyway are going through a cheat in the system. I'm going to be very, very ticked off if by the time I can book the FD promo all the rooms in the resort I want are gone.

POR = Port Orleans Riverside.

The site being used to book FD promo right now is not supposed to be open to the US but it is, for now. I've booked and paid in full already so it would be a pain in the butt to cancel, wait for the refund, then book it through there. Especially after a ton of CM's have told me that the offer is invalid for the US right now and the reservations made through it for guests in the US may get canceled or modified. I don't want to be one of those people.

I hope it doesn't happen to those people who got through the loophole. Really. But with my luck.... it would happen to me.

That's just it. I don't have the promo. I'm paying for the DDP right now. Until they release it for the US. I can't get a single CM to apply it to my reservation. They all tell me that those who are booking the FD promo right now for the Aug/Sept 2012 are doing the wrong thing and they cannot apply the code to mine right now.

Not everyone is doing the wrong thing in booking right now. There are quite a few Canadians here on Disboards. I agree though that those who are booking with a discount meant for others are possibly in for a real surprise.

I am sorry goofypop. I misunderstood. I hope it works out ok for everyone. As much money as Disney makes it looks like they would have a little discount for everyone all the time. Especially they way the economy is.
