2012 Free Dining Dates...?

I can't wait for the dates to be posted as I use these as a guide as to when NOT to go to Disney. FD = massive crowds usually. We've been around 3 times during FD and it was a madhouse; don't even think about trying to book a last minute trip and getting a reservation at any of the signature restaurants.

Since my daughter just started kinder last year, we're now relegated to going during the most busy times of the year, which generally means no discounts. While FD is great for big families, it's not good for mine (we're 4) so we do not like going during this time. Best of luck to all of you DIS'ers waiting for this code, which should pop up in the near future.

For much of 2011, free dining was offered (if booked early) for all non-peak periods. So free dining is still less crowded than peak.

Last year, I pulled my son out of 2 days of kindergarten. This year, I plan to pull him out of 4 days of first grade. Won't pull him out much longer though. Probably not beyond second grade.

Last year I pulled my 2 DD( 6,10)out for a week to go on our first disney vaca in October. FD or not, I REFUSE to go in the summer time...

I might get flamed but I am in the minority who had no problem pulling my kids out of school for vacation. My oldest who is 9, has been pulled out of both first and second grade for 5 days. I plan to pull him out of 4th grade as well. We live in a very small town and he is far advanced for his age, he rarely if ever is assigned any homework and usually missing very little (as far as lessons go) as we go in the early fall.

I also have no problem doing this. My girls are advanced for their age and grade level and I work with them constatantly through the summer and school breaks. I am not worried about them falling behind if they miss a week of school.

I only have one actually in "real" school, and one in preschool. I will be pulling them out early December. I did this last year for a family vacation too. Maybe if they were doing things that she would actually miss, but shes in 1st grade and tests at a 3rd grade level, so I'm not concerned :)

I can't imagine someone flaming you for that though.... we are all parents and make the decisions that are best for our family.

I read the mousesavers list of released codes and from what I read it seemed like free dining that was announced in August the year before was for a certain time frame for the following year, like January to early March, is that correct? I got the impression that they released the free dinning dates in August for the next year for all eligible times, I guess I am just confussed :confused3:confused3

You are correct about January and March, however if you keep reading down the list you will also note that dates in June as well as 8/19/11-9/29/11 were released at that same time (August 16th).:cool1:

Hey guys well, i've been checking Mousesavers everyday and nothing new to report:confused3 So i'm still hoping for some good 2012 FD news. Just waiting to see...:rolleyes1

Since they use Free Dining to attract people during slow times I really doubt we'll ever see Free Dining offers for months like May and December. Have they ever had free dining in those months before? I've only ever seen it for early fall and late winter. You never know I guess.

I would not ever mind pulling my 3rd grader out of school for a few days for Disney World! Family time is just as important as school time! (Plus we could never afford the prices during times when school is out.)

Disney did offer free dining beginning May 27th this year. I can't remember what the ending date was but I know we were able to get free dining from May 27th through June 4th.

Free Dining was offered in select weeks of December the last 3 years. You won't see it over Christmas itself, but before school lets out, it's possible and has been done before.

Wow! Thanks for that info on the May and December possibilities. Free Dining is just the best idn't it? I never woulda thunk. Counting down to 8/16(ish)! Can't wait to see what they announce.

I am hoping for Sept! I think we might have a Disney overload - planned DLR months ago (for Oct), then one side of the family wants to go to WDW in April and then the other side wants to go in Sept. (with a possible cruise thrown in). Not sure if DH can handle it :rotfl:

I am hoping for free dining for the month of May2012. We went the third week in May but under the kids stay and play promo. I remembered that they did announce free dining promo in Aug but we had to book it by Dec. 20
