2012 Earmarked Conference

Here's the thing with dressing professionally on the cruise...it's just hard! My experience alst year on the cruise they did for Travel Agent training was that the Disney folks wore a lot of kahki pants/skirts and button downs (or polo shirts) with a Disney logo. I did more of the cruise-casual thing. Shoes for me is the hardest. It's difficut to find shoes that are comfortable and look good with that cruise casual look.

While it will be fine to wear those bermuda shorts most of the day, I'd look for some cropped pants or skirts for the conference sessions. You may be able to use your evening black slacks for a day look and then pair with a dressy top for dinner.

As far as hard-soled shoes go. They are looking for shoes that nails/ other construction materials cannot penetrate easily. hiking boots or work boots would work. but typical dress-up shoes would not. You might consider a trip to payless or walmart to get something if you don't already own some.

We'll be on the tours I bolded! Which brings me to this question...do you have any idea what hard soled shoes means? It says no sneakers, which probably what I would have worn that day. I know it's a safety thing since it sounds like we'll be visiting construction sites, but I honestly have no idea if I even own a pair of "hard soled shoes."

Is anyone else stressing about what to pack? I have always either worked from home or in a very casual office, so I have almost no business attire. I have a pair of black pants that I wear to any "nice" event I attend. I'm also having a hard time figuring out how to dress professionally on a cruise...the two don't really go together in my mind. It's not like I want to wear a tank top and micro mini or anything, I don't wear anything shorter than bermuda shorts and always cover my shoulders. Maybe I'm overthinking this?

I haven't received anything so far. I'll try to remember to come here and post next time I get an email so you know if you might have missed something.

I leave in 16 days. ANd I have a lot to get done.

20 days isn't much more than 16, but I'm going to use all those days for sure.

I'm hoping/trying not to pack everything I own, so I'm trying to pack pieces that can mix and match. Thanks for your input and experiences. I guess I will probably wear my black pants for all conference sessions and pack a shirt for each day. I'll probably pack some polos for non-conference time.

I hate to spend money and luggage space on a pair of shoes I'll only wear for 3 hours. The tour sounds too cool to pass up though. I took a bag of just shoes on a 2 day business meeting this past summer, I'm hoping to avoid repeating that. I have a feeling that no matter what my feet will hurt because I'm used to sitting while wearing my nicer shoes, not walking around a conference resort or a cruise ship.

I'm thinking I'll wear my athletic shoes or comfy sandals most of the time. I might take a pair of black flats to slip on during sessions but there is no way I'm walking the length of the Fantasy over and over with nice shoes on. We're on the Dream Sunday - Thursday, so my feet will already be tired.

I do hate it when I have luggage full of shoes! This is much more relaxed than many conferences. At least you don't HAVE to wear a suit. :)

Oh my, didn't even think of anything beyond tennis shoes! Guess I'll be checkng out Payless, hoping they have some Winter Boots marked-down! LOL!! My husband always wears Steel-toed Boots on Construction Sites, but they are generally $100+, so that's not happening!! If ya'll see a girl wearing her husband's old boots that are 2 times too big, you'll know Payless was out & I was too cheap to buy anything else! We fly in on the 20th & I'm really freaking out about clothing b/c we have always driven to Orlando, so I can basically packed anything & everything I want, but now I feel limited on what I can bring! I think I'm gonna look for clothing (particularly pants/gauchos/capris), that I can dress up or down w/ different tops.

Hopefully we'll get room assignments soon! They can't wait too much longer!

For anyone needing footwear for the Art of Animation hard hat tour, try Walmart. They have men's workboots for $20 on their website. Not sure if they have women's styles or just the men's but, that is probably the best price you'll find outside a thrift store.

Got my email with reservation numbers this afternoon. It was exciting, and then I realized how close March 21st is! Hope I'm ready when it rolls around :)

So excited leave in two weeks! Just got my email with my stateroom.
Can not wait!:goodvibes

I got my stateroom number too!

Just curious - has anyone been able to book Palo or Remy, or any spa activities? I do not see availability for any of those, or for any shore excursions.

No activities were available to book when we checked-in yesterday. I wouldn't think they are full, just haven't been released. Not sure if or when they will be released though. :confused3

Also got our emails with our res numbers for Walt Disney World stay and Disney Fantasy. Getting so excited. Last year on the Dream was Fabulous for the conference, can't wait for this one.

Received travel documents for the cruise in the mail today. Really didn't expect them until check-in at the conference.

Love to do the document dance!:yay:

Got all my documents in & online check-in is complete! Talked to Event Services today because my resort reservation # wasn't on my last email, so they're getting it corrected. He did say we will receive another email in the next couple of days with some additional info added. 2 Weeks away!! Yay!!:woohoo:

Cruise on-line ck in complete!!!! Did not receive Cruise document packet in the mail yet. Also waiting for Magical Express book and yellow tags to arrive.

Cruise documents came in the mail today. YEAH!!!! Already did online ck in.
Still waiting for Magical Express book and yellow tags. Anyone get theirs yet? What day is everyone coming in? I am arriving March 20th.

We're also arriving the 20th & I have received my Magical Express packet, but I had booked my 1st night's stay at the Coronado through the TA Site & when we return from the cruise we'll be staying 2 more nights at the Cabins, so I had arranged my Magical Express directly w/ them not the Event Services. Got a busy busy week to get everything done, but can't wait to be there!!! See Ya Real Soon!!!

Now that we're all home, I have a question.
My daughter and niece spent a lot of time in Vibe. They met a lot of great kids there, and had a lot of fun. This was their first time meeting friends without me there (reminding them to get contact info, trade numbers, etc.). Now that we're home, my daughter is sad over the friends she is no longer in contact with.
Did any of you have teens spend time in Vibe? I'm wondering if there is a way to connect the kids who met on the ship.
Thanks in advance.
