2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

I'm staying at BC for the first time this September (finally!!) and have a question I'm hoping someone here might have experience with.

On the website, it says that all BC rooms come with minifridge, coffee maker, yada yada yada, and then it states that a microwave is available upon request.

I was thinking I would need to go to Wal-Mart and buy the smallest cheapest microwave I could find - but if they do have microwaves upon request, that would be GREAT! Otherwise, Wal-Mart / Target have some that are only $40 so it wouldn't be like I'd be out a ton of money. Due to some diet restrictions and requirements (and my own cheapness), I really really need a microwave.

Anyone ever requested a microwave and gotten one?

Anyone have experience getting to/from the races? Opinions?

Thanks!
Amanda

I did just the marathon in 2010. (I am not Goofy :thumbsup2) We decided on a split stay. We did Bay Lake Tower for race weekend then moved to BC for the week after. I wanted to be on a monorail for the early morning line up. The bad part was all of the monorail ramps!

Beach Club veterans: This is our first visit to the Beach Club in 13 years. Could I ask for comments on the "best" room locations and / or numbers, i.e. near elevators, with full balconies, certain floors, etc.

Many thanks and very much looking forward to our trip in late July / early August.

If you could list what you are most interested in it would help (epcot view, pool acess) and just an FYI you don't want to ask for room numbers. If that room is occupied which it likely will be they won't know WHY you wanted 2506. You're much better off decideing what features are most important to you, not actual rooms.

personally I'd ask to be by the 'back' elevators so that you are near to the entrance by the IG and by the quiet pool/laundry (we didn't do SAB as much as we went to the quiet pool)

however if you are going to be going to sab, using the buses/valet, eating at the TS at the resort more than not then you need lobby elevator locations.

Personally I don't care as much about views as I do about location, so a standard or garden view are fine with me as long as I"m near where I want to be.

2nd floor is often blocked by trees so I"d ask for 3rd or 4th. (5th is only an option if your cl)

Thank you. We'll probably want to be near SAB and the nearest bar (not necessarily in that order), so it sounds like something near the lobby elevator would work best for us?

Dee I'll be heading over to check out your Kona review............so glad you enjoyed it. I'm glad that I made the switch!!

Thanks so much for the jogging map...........you are So Good!!!

Our trip in June seems like it won't ever get here! Just wanted to thank those that post in this thread. It helps pass the time a little bit. I can't wait to stay at the BC - Club Level again. :cool1: :cool1: It's been 13 years since our last stay there. I'm not even sure what I remember. :rotfl2: To all those whose trips are around the corner...............Enjoy. To those planning..................I hope your stay is wonderful!

I'm trying to remember where the closest bar is in BC. I don't think I ever actually bought a drink at the resort. There is one at SAB for sure, and I know there are a couple in the YC. You might want to check page one. I think maybe Martha's Vineyard might have a bar but someone else is going to have to answer that one for you.

Yep just checked MV has a bar. However I don't know where it is in the BC.

Don't be too jealous... I'm going with 140 teenagers... and we are NOT staying at the Beach Club!

I am grateful to be going, though! The trip was in question for many months due to some *ahem* less than stellar effort at school.

Here is the link in case you have trouble finding it in my Muggles report.

Dinner at Kona Cafe

No problem on the jogging map. I post it on request. I don't know exactly where it came from so I am a little uncomfortable putting it up Page 1 without the proper authorization.

Dee, looking forward to reading your TR.

mmmears, I agree with others that 11:00-11:30 is an excellent time to go to B&C. I did notice on our last two trips (Nov. and Feb) that it was a bit busier than usual at that hour. Don't know if that was chance or if the secret is getting out. We've also had good luck going for a very early dinner....4:30 or 5:00. We've not tried that in a few years though.

Martha's Vineyard is on the other side of Cape May. Just follow the hallway around Cape May and it's on the right as the hall ends.

What a great photo of Beauty and the Beast's castle.

Thanks for the info. That time doesn't work for us anymore (it used to)... I guess that's why we keep missing out on B&C. Oh well, at least I can try! :)

I'm excited because DH FINALLY got his vacation time approved for December...he is a paramedic for a large metropolitan EMS department (not quite a fireman, but here's my one chance chance to use this smile, lol :firefight), and he has to put in vacation requests up to a year in advance if he wants the best chance of getting it! *thud* But luckily he got it and now I can REALLY get excited about the trip! I'll make air reservations this week and then it will be truly official!!

I have less than a month before my opportunity to make ADRs, and I have NO idea where to start! :rotfl: Must go read some more!!

I'm glad your DH's vacation request was approved. I already have you on the list!!!

Just wanted to share. Just booked our stay at Yacht Club for November!:cool1:

:woohoo: WendyWuWu!

Let us know your dates in Nov if you would like to be added to the Page 1 Be Our Guest list.

I'll add you to the list. What are your dates?

I remember that someone in the last year requested and got a microwave for their room, but I don't remember who it was. If they are still reading along, I'm sure they will post.

Hello!! I am so excited about this thread. Hubby and I are looking to book a bounce back (If available) to YC this August. Does anyone know if you can get connecting rooms at the YC? (We have 4 kids, so we need 2 rooms.) It is our 12 year anniversary and Hubby really would like to stay at YC over any other place. I am hoping they have connecting rooms so that we can. Thank you for your help!

I hope you end up booking the stay!

Thanks for posting this Dee. I like to read your reports but I hardly ever visit any other threads but this one. Please post here when you update again.

Amy (another Bostonian)

Thanks! I'll keep everyone posted on the report.

Today is our last day here at the Beach Club. Our flight leaves Orlando at 7 p.m. and I have to say that me and my dd have had the best time ever. The CM's and staff at the Beach Club have been super fantastic!! Heather has made my little princess feel so special. I know she will never, ever forget our time here. I have so much to say, but so little time.

I will say that we got a TREMENDOUS amount of pixie dust sprinkled on us every day of our stay!

I would most definitely stay here again :goodvibes

Oh yes, and Stormalong Bay is AWESOME!!! Since we do not have to check out until 3 p.m. (Thanks to Heather!!) we have time to walk over to the Boardwalk, shop, go back to the pool and arcade and finally eat at Beaches and Cream. Can you believe we haven't been there yet? :rotfl:

So glad to hear you had a fantastic trip!

Requesting near the lobby elevator sounds like it would be good for you- close to SAB, lobby, bus stop, Marketplace.

Dee, looking forward to reading your TR.

Thank you!
