2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Thanks, I mentioned this too but everyone really wants to stay at YC. I took the majority of the people that are going to YC back in 2006 and they really want to do it again! That's what happens when you start someone out with CL!:rotfl: Beach Club could become an option though.

You just plan the best vacations! I know whatever you decide to do, it will again be AMAZING!

We've just returned from a week at the BC. We had a fabulous time. The weather was hot and sunny all week and we got a lot of use out of Stormalong Bay. Our children (6 and 3) absolutely loved the sand bar. MIL loved the BC and lived in the pool. FIL, however, didn't like it. I underestimated how much he likes shopping and loves Downtown Disney. He spent the whole week riding buses over to DD and then complaining about how he missed his POFQ boat. My parents loved being able to walk into EPCOT.

Thanks for the update. Too bad FIL didn't do Dee's alternate route back from DTD then he could have gotten his boat ride. Bet he had a better time though than he's letting on. Glad everyone else had a good time. Waiting for the full report.

Question: I'd like to go to Beaches & Cream but every time I walk past it there is a huge line. Any suggestions for a good time to try to get in there?

First thing when they open for lunch or mid-afternoon has been suggested by the experts here.

Good Morning everyone!!!

Soccer all weekend here..................so HOT and HUMID this weekend, all I could think about was soaking up the sun at SAB!!

Took a chance last night and changed one of our ADR's from Chefs de France to Kona. Never ate at Kona, but wanted to give it a try, and really wanted an excuse to visit Poly again since it's been years!!

Hope eveyone at YC/BC is enjoying their trip!

I am hoping for a little BC pixie dust. I am heading down in June with DH, DD, DS and my mom. We are booked at BC for our first time and are beyond excited. Well, my dad has decided he wants to come down for 2 days (he is not married to my mom anymore but they get along really well-it is weird but good). So, we just closed on our DVC contract so I have him booked at BWV and wait listed at BCV, I really hope some how it works out. Either way at least he will be close even if he can't use SAB with the kids. I had even considered putting him in our room but we have a GV CL room booked and it only holds 4 + an infant (DS) so it won't work. Oh well, it is still Disney, right?

I'm hoping for the same pixie dust at the end of July. Right now I have a 2 BR at BWV, but I soooo want to come home to BCV! I've got waitlist requests for any type of 2BR, and I check online several times a day, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

:welcome: new and returning friends!!!

I'll be at the YC July 25-Aug 6th!!

Super excited for our stay:cool1::cool1::cool1:

:cool1:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list!

We booked YC 8/7-8/13, waterview. My requests are: 1st floor (medical resons), near lobby and a daybed. My teens 17 and 14, won't share a bed.

Does anyone know if there are daybed available for waterview, 1st floor rooms? I know that the daybed is just a request, but it would make our sleeping arrangements, so much easier :)

Also, can you see Illuminations from waterview rooms at the YC?

thank you!

:woohoo:

You're going on the list!

We have a trip planned for Nov. 12-19. Will be staying at the BC. Girls only trip-me 36,DM 62 ,Twin dd's 14.So excited to stay at a deluxe. We usually stay at POFQ. ADR's in 11 days! Whoot whoot!! :woohoo:

Paula

princess: for you for your all girls trip.

You're on the list!

Well we took the plunge and changed from Standard - Waterview to Club Level - Standard View. We'll see if something opens up to Garden View but after we priced out breakfast and a couple of beers/wine glass, it pays for itself.

At least now I don't have to hide packing cereal boxes from the kids the morning of.

:rotfl2:

Congrats on the change! I'll update your listing.

I am definitely a believer in concierge over view.

Our plans have changed. Instead of June 15, we now leave in 10 days. We'll be staying at the swan for 3 nights then on to yacht club, club level for 4 nights.

I'll make the change to the list.

I have our Boarding Passes printed, and I am all checked in for our quick Flower & Garden trip. We have a BCV Stuido. I have never stayed in less than a BCV 1 BR,so we will see.
I am so ready and so excited.

Dee,
On a different note we will be down with DS and DDiL for Food & Wood in Oct too.
Could I sign up for the Noodle Swap the week of October 6th to October 13 ?
TIA

Have a fantastic trip. I'll put you down for the noodles, as long as they are not spoken for on those dates- haven't checked yet.

It is time for that frequent reminder- please check the Be Our Guest list on page 1 to make sure I have your information listed correctly (but give me 10 mintues because I have to make the above changes first!

Feeling a bit down today - we had to have one of our lovely cats put to sleep today - so thought I would just check-in and see whats been going on. The new Fastpass sounds interesting but a bit of a planner disrupter!?

Just got an ADR at Kouzzina as OH wants to spend more time this trip on the Boardwalk - any views?

oooh and we are now 97 sleeps from Florida :goodvibes

I'm so very sorry about the loss of your precious cat. :grouphug:

We recently became cat owners again after a decade-long absence of sweet meows.

I haven't been to Kouzzina, but it is one of the places I want to try soon.

Thanks for this fabulous thread -- I used lots of your BC tips on this trip!

Thanks for the review of your trip and your kind words.

We had drizzly weather on the flag football field.

I have never been to Chefs, but LOVE LOVE LOVE Kona- there is a review in my Muggles report of our meal there last summer. Spectacular!

OK, everyone, cross your fingers, too!

Hey Teena! Marleton! Nate! Others!

How is everyone doing? I keep thinking oh no I need to get to disboads and say hi and finally found a moment.

Sorry I haven't been on the past few months. Cliff notes...

Got promoted at work which means no time for any more fun time day time activities I used to be able to do while at work which has been a drag.

Free time is spent wedding/honeymoon planning, only three months to go now. Will post pics once it happens. Not a dis wedding though, could go on and on about how disappointing the disneyland wedding venues were.

BUT BUT BUT, we are coming back this early December for our third annual holiday trip to the ol' world. Still deciding where to stay, we have a bounce back booked at GF from last year but YC is home!!!

Will post some wedding pics once we have them!

:wave2:

Good to see you again! Looking forward to seeing pictures.

I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who has contributed so much on this wonderful forum.

I found this site by accident last year when I was planning our first WDW holiday (vacation).

With two small children we had told them that it was likely to be a once in a lifetime family holiday for us as we come from Melbourne, Australia.

We loved our 11 day trip in 2011 so much that I have already booked for another 11 days in 2013.

We are all so excited and now that I have more time up my sleeve I look forward to reading about everyone's tips and tricks for the next year unit we are back!

:wave2: Glad to hear you have another trip planned!

Question: The walkway around YC/BC/BWI/Swan etc (or should I say around the lagoon) is how long?

@ Feckless- Your live reports are awesome!!! Thanks so much for taking time out of your trip to let us know how it is going.

Hello!! I am so excited about this thread. Hubby and I are looking to book a bounce back (If available) to YC this August. Does anyone know if you can get connecting rooms at the YC? (We have 4 kids, so we need 2 rooms.) It is our 12 year anniversary and Hubby really would like to stay at YC over any other place. I am hoping they have connecting rooms so that we can. Thank you for your help!

In other news, I have started the Atlantis trip report, as a continuation of my Muggles report.

Nooooooooooo! Had I alerted him to the alternate route he would have visited POFQ on his way home and then I never would have heard the end of how fabulous it is. Of course , maybe he would have gotten off the boat at POFQ, checked himself into a room and left me alone for the rest of the week :rotfl2: You are probably right about him liking BC more than he let on. He is just difficult.

Thanks for posting this Dee. I like to read your reports but I hardly ever visit any other threads but this one. Please post here when you update again.

Today is our last day here at the Beach Club. Our flight leaves Orlando at 7 p.m. and I have to say that me and my dd have had the best time ever. The CM's and staff at the Beach Club have been super fantastic!! Heather has made my little princess feel so special. I know she will never, ever forget our time here. I have so much to say, but so little time.

I will say that we got a TREMENDOUS amount of pixie dust sprinkled on us every day of our stay!

I would most definitely stay here again :goodvibes

Oh yes, and Stormalong Bay is AWESOME!!! Since we do not have to check out until 3 p.m. (Thanks to Heather!!) we have time to walk over to the Boardwalk, shop, go back to the pool and arcade and finally eat at Beaches and Cream. Can you believe we haven't been there yet? :rotfl:

So sad to hear it is your last day, but it sounds like you had a wonderful time. We loved Beaches and Cream and I think it is a great place to eat on your last day.

I have a question. I may have already asked.. Ive had a very crazy last two weeks..

I understand CL is on th 5th floor, is that in the main building? Is it far from storm along bay and what about the walk to Epcot and the boardwalk from there?

Does BC CL provide, shampoo, conditioner and body wash like the other deluxes?

I've been quietly reading and doing my best to catch up (not sure it's possible, but I'm trying!). Thank you to everyone for the info and the on-the-spot trip reports, which are so fun to read. :) I love to hear of all the pixie dust--Disney is such a magical place. :)

PinkGirl, my condolences on the kitty. We are a cat-loving family, as well, and it's so hard to lose them. :(

Teena, I would like to add my congrats on the happy check-up. What wonderful news! :grouphug:

I would also like to add...

You know I want everybody to have a super time at the Y&B. Little things like this can be annoying. But I wanted everybody to know we're working on it.

...what a wonderful CM you are to care so much! It's such a blessing to read this thread and see your comments and concerns included. You are truly wonderful to do this for so many, all because you want their stay to be the most magical it can be!

I'm excited because DH FINALLY got his vacation time approved for December...he is a paramedic for a large metropolitan EMS department (not quite a fireman, but here's my one chance chance to use this smile, lol :firefight), and he has to put in vacation requests up to a year in advance if he wants the best chance of getting it! *thud* But luckily he got it and now I can REALLY get excited about the trip! I'll make air reservations this week and then it will be truly official!!

I have less than a month before my opportunity to make ADRs, and I have NO idea where to start! :rotfl: Must go read some more!!

You need to spend a few minutes on page one of this thread and all your questions will be answered

1) No "main" building here unless you are BCV as a DVC user
2) SAB is right outside the back door
3) Epcot and Boardwalk are 5 minutes away at a leisurely pace
4) Yes, bathroom products are provided although one recent visitor did have difficulties getting refills.

Hope this answered your "question". Really go to page one. Lots of good information there.

I think Jeanne is actually the most excited. Somebody is coming to help her in the classroom and get caught up on grading all the papers!!

Hurry up Tuesday!

Good news: I just returned from my six month check-up at the Mayo Clinic and I'm good to go until the Fall. I was sweating today big time and now I can really enjoy this upcoming trip to Jeanne's! My Bob is so wonderful to drive me all the way up there and back in one day!

Yay Teena! I'm so glad for good news!!!

Amanda

I haven't been here much because we're getting ready for our 1st cruise. Seven weeks from today we leave on the Disney Dream for 5 nights. And then we're having a mellow long weekend at the Cabins (something different). Our August trip to BC seems like a lifetime away! :thumbsup2

Quick question: It looks like I'll probably be traveling solo for Marathon Weekend. I'm running the Goofy for the first time. Starting to think about room reservations for the weekend. I'm leaning towards YC (I love BC but I like the "adult" feeling I get at YC for the race weekend plus I think YC feels a little quieter). Anyone have experience getting to/from the races? Opinions?

Thanks!
Amanda
