2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Are there life jackets to use at beach club?

Also is anyone static may 27 and on that would like our noodles? We will be buying two and obviously can't bring them home.

We'd love to adopt them if no one's contacted you yet! We check in at BC on the 30th, but we'll be at AKV on the 27th. We have a car and can come by and get them from you or bell services (or wherever you leave them). Let me know!

Posting since it's getting so close for our family - so excited! This is the fastest moving thread... I swear it was just on page 53.

Excited to be staying at the BC! Love being by Epcot but it's our first trip over here since 2008. Tempted to ask about the pool (heehee) but I don't care if the repairs are done or not... I cannot WAIT to be at the BC!!!

The best part is I was off my a week on my count in my head... :rotfl:

Sounds like a good plan to me. Just be sure to take the time to take in the Christmas activities at the different lands. I don't think they start until after T-day but they should be on your agenda. It really is worth it.

Read something on another thread where one or two people posted a bad experience but there were 30 or so other postings extoling the benefit that Disney was providing. The OP had said that the bad experience was going to keep them from using the Disney benefit and that they would pay OOP just to make sure they avoided the same problem. The poster that impressed me said that it's funny how we seem to fixate on the one or two bad experiences and not the thirty or so good ones. We just "know" that we will have that same bad experience. We'll I'll chime in with everyone else and say that we have not had a bad experience with ME over the years we've been using them. Yes, it does take a while, but the convenience and the savings are worth it. The longest it ever took us from airport to hotel was 1.5 hrs and we never had an issue about the luggage not arriving and not all being there. But, if its peace of mind that you are seeking, I would strongly recommend the towncar services. They are great. Used them back in the '80's and '90's before ME was created.

I appreciate everyone's experience and I especially appreciate those that post their less than stellar Disney experiences. It makes the planning that much more interesting in that we always have that contingency plan in the back pocket "just in case".

Hope everyone has a joyous Easter weekend, especially those there at the happiest place on earth right now.

I just wanted to clarify, my intent was not to deter anyone from using ME right off the bat. I just wanted to let the OP know that there is the chance that you could have a long ride/wait and if you are really in a hurry to get to the resort, you might consider an alternate means. Our travel agent assured us that ME was quick and we'd have no issues but I really wish she had suggested that we might run into a situation like we had. I think ME is a great perk of staying with Disney and a great money saver, but for our family...with a cranky 2 yr old and having been on the road since 5AM, we'd prefer to pay the extra money for a direct ride.

Hope I didn't offend anyone!!

One week...
I am so excited to be experiencing the BC for the first time in just a week.. 7 wonderful nights..

Yep. The one I got about a month ago does. Just pulled it out to check. It does the Yacht and Beach club together but about 1-2 minute overview. Some great shots.

Also hit Youtube. Some good stuff on there.

Great, thank you! I did sign up for the dvd so we'll look at that when it comes. In the meantime youtube it is, thanks again :) 38 days (son reminded me this am, so happy we finally told him)!

Your last line says it all AMB. I've seen it posted over and over on the boards of 'The Planner' worrying about everyone enjoying themselves on xxxxx trip. With your whole family there enjoying your two daughters at WDW it will be great.

Will everyone completely enjoy themselves :confused3. That's up to the individual. But I can tell by the positive tone of your note you will. Enjoy!

Thanks for the encouragement! I know it will be a great vacation, I've just never switched resorts so many times during planning (and I've never talked other people into changing resorts). I know my girls will be so happy to have all their grandparents staying with them at the same resort.

Now I just have to prepare myself for the possibility of no daybed and no full balcony. Our priority is to have connecting rooms with my parents, so that's the only request I made. Ideally we would have a daybed for my youngest daughter, but my parents are driving and can toss an air mattress in their car.

Happy Easter and a Joyous Passover to all my BC/YC friends.

We had everyone over today and really had a special reason to celebrate.
Last Easter my Mom was in the hospital and the doctors were telling us the time was getting close and that we wouldn't have her this Easter.

Well not only was she at our house today to celebrate Easter, she had a really good day and was able to enjoy her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We are so thankful!

Robyn, I'm so happy to hear you all had a great day with your mom! What a wonderful blessing.

Hello Everybody! Our first trip to the BC is coming up at the end of the month. I've been enjoying reading through this thread and studying all the photographs.

We have two daughters (6 and 3). We are travelling with my parents and my in-laws in 3 rooms. I'm a little stressed because we upgraded my in-laws to the BC from their beloved POFQ. MIL is thrilled to be near her granddaughters and to try a new resort. FIL is being quiet and I know he is worried that he won't enjoy himself (he is a creature of habit, picky eater etc.). I'm sure he will love the EPCOT area once he sees it, but I will feel very guilt if he doesn't! I don't know what I will do if the pool construction doesn't finish on time! Thank goodness my parents will be happy wherever we are.

I'm really looking forward to staying at the BC.

:welcome:

If you would like to be added to the Page 1 Be Our Guest list, please let us know your dates.

If your FIL likes EPCOT, he will be blown away by how quick and easy it is to get there (5 minute walk)!

Are there life jackets to use at beach club?

Yes, you can borrow life jackets from Poolside Gifts at SAB. If they happen to be out, I believe you can go to the nearby marina to borrow some.

Happy Easter BC/YC thread!!!

It's been forever since I posted here. Since the Oct. 2011 trip time has been a world-wind and I could never get back here to "catch up" with the thread, but got a Kindle last week and I've been spending the time reading the BC thread before bed. :rotfl: So I'm now all caught up.

Nice to hear that you are keeping up with us! We love when our friends decide to hang around, even when you don't have a trip to the resort planned in the immediate future.

No worries! We appreciate hearing about everyone's experiences. Although in most cases the airport to resort time is about an hour and a half, it didn't work that way for you, and it is helpful to know that when someone is trying to decide whether to use ME.

Is it just me that gets unnaturally stressed out right before we go? We are flying out on Friday morning (spending two nights around SeaWorld before checking into BC on Sunday), and I swear I'm about to jump out of my skin. Yes, I'm excited, but the excitement sometimes gets swallowed up in the stress. Please tell me I'm not the only one :)

I am probably not going to be able to even think of starting to pack until Wednesday -- I'm off to a hospital appt now with my youngest, and we have medical appts the next two days eating up our time. Perhaps that's contributing to the stress.....

Just tell me I'm not some sort of freak (perhaps you can't!). I see everyone post about how excited they are, and I am, but then the waves of stress roll in.

Oh well, I know we will get there just fine (and I will be up half the night before packing, as usual). I just wish I could click my heels three times on Friday morning and be there, with my children, packed perfectly :)

BC here we come! (I know, I should get off here and start preparing!)

Okay, think I just need to get that last post out! Feel a bit better already.

Best way I've always found to deal with stress is to plan and think of the vacation to come!

So question: For all you BC/YC vets out there, is it realistic to eat breakfast at the Captain's Grille at 7:30 and be done in time to either catch the bus to the MK in time for rope drop, or the boat to DHS in time for the same? We're quick eaters, so I guess the question really boils down to whether it's realistic to leave the YC at about 8 am to make rope drop at the MK or DHS.

(Edited to add: on days when those parks open at 9 am)

Perfectly, perfectly normal!!! So is hanging out here instead of doing the trip prep you should be doing.

Good luck with the appointments tomorrow.

 I thought I was the only one who did that! I always want to be on the Dis instead of getting ready. :rotfl2:

I think it is reasonable, if you get out of Captain's Grille by 8:15. From what I've heard, breakfast time service can be slow (we have only had dinner there, and found service to be very prompt and courteous). To make RD, we always left our room about 45 minutes ahead of park opening time, and found we had no trouble making RD. That was last May. It seems like the time it took to get to the parks was less than what some of the travel guides say it will be. If you miss RD, it will be by minutes, and you will have saved yourself waiting in yet another line. You will arrive just as the throng of RD guests has started moving. Only problem is you will be in the back of the throng...I think you won't find it greatly affects your day.

I get really stressed the few days before as well. Sounds as though your group will be arriving around the same time as ours. Have a great trip!:yay:

Today is the day portions of SAB close. If anyone has access to current pics of the closures, just so we will know what it looks like during our trip, please post them here! Thanks. Any reports of what the area looks like, construction noise etc appreciated also. We just want to know what to expect so we aren't surprised by it!

Wishing you nothing but a wonderful trip to BC this month!

I understand the creature of habit ... than can be my DH. Once he finds a spot, he's comfortable and wants to keep doing the same thing over and over because it is what he knows he likes.

His favorite for some time was POR and he couldn't see why we'd pay more than that because it was such a good value for the money. I am one to try new places, see what is out there. Sometimes it worked out (enjoyed the WL a couple of times) and sometimes not (Poly ended up not being for us).

Of course, now I am in the creature of habit mode with BC!

This summer will be our 6th stay since 2008. We love it there and it meets all our needs right now with 2 kids aged 12 & 10. My mom loved it just the same and has stayed twice, and can't wait to go back again.

I would suggest, though, a room request near the lobby if POFQ has been FIL's favorite. I am sure he enjoys the convenience of a smaller resort so placement near the lobby would give him that feeling. Quicker access to the busses and boat dock. Closer to the Marketplace & SAB. The walk to Epcot will increase by a few minutes, but walking through the hallways & out by room 1501 will keep you cool and out of the heat if needed.

Also when walking over to BC, take the pathway down by the river instead of having to climb the hill. Walkway is just before the hill, past the turnoff to Boardwalk. Makes it even easier and one less thing to complain about.

Have a great time with the all grandparents!

I'm so pleased you had a wonderful holiday with your mum:) We got a very treasured extra year with my dad and made many memories that will last us a lifetime so I'm wishing the same for you:hug:

As another planning factor, DHS seems to be consistenly letting people through the turnstiles 15-20 minutes before scheduled opening. If you want to be there when they start letting people in, I'd plan to get there about 8:35-8:40. :)
