2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

We have done MNSSHP several times. Did you know you can get in early with your party ticket? Usually about 4 PM. We have never arrived after the party starts. We have eaten at GF then take the monorail over by 6:30 or so. Another time we ate at Tony's before the party started. They actually had a special "bat cake" dessert especially for the party. You won't really miss anything by getting there late, but you pay a lot for the ticket. The party is only 5 hours anyway. Why waste any of it? Are there any restaurants you'd like to try at MK? Try to get an ADR for 5:30 or 6 & you can be done in time to enjoy the whole party.

Yes, I did know about getting in after 4pm. I think we're going to rearrange some things so we can get there early and not be stressed about a dinner ADR right before the party. Thanks!!!!

Hah! You guys must think I'm kinda slow! I just looked at the other thread about SAB in this forum and FINALLY see a big red circle around the area that was being discussed in the SAB pic. How strange! Wonder why I can't see that red circle on the pic on this thread??? Truly bizarre.

Teena, so hate to ask you any more questions, but do you know if the two hot tubs next to that circled area would be closed? They look to be right next to the closed area.... If BC/YC only have that other one hot tub open, that will be crammed!

Many thx!

I called reservations they transferred me to guest services and I did switch to the poly. I paid for a pool view and it was going to be our first experience at BC. Although I am extremely disappointed, we do love the poly. Guest services was able to get me a discount equal to what I originally had and we are actually paying less money.. Although we will just have a garden view..

Did you happen to ask about the pool refurb going on? I think the SAB closure has made me over-paranoid but I don't want to switch to another resort with potential slide closure. Looks like you are going a week after me though....

thanks!

Hi I am attending a conf from 4/29 - 5/2, my Hubs is joining me on 5/2 for a stay at the pop till the 7th but I am wondering if using SAB is allowed on 5/2? do we both need to show a room key or is just one sufficient? Thanks Michelle

Hi bigsis, I think all guests at SAB have to have a room key from what I've read.

Big hugs and good thoughts to everyone struggling with what to do about the pool closure. We go May 1st and I know that I'm a bit stressed about the possibility of the refurb taking longer than expected so I can only imagine how hard it is to manage your expectations. I have been planning this vacation for 9 months now and have a good idea of how hard this is on us planners!! Congrats to everyone who have successfully changed their resorts and remember it's still Disney Deluxe and I'm sure you'll all have a great holiday.

Teena, thanks for going above and beyond in keeping everyone informed.

I'm on another work trip to Toronto - waving at Janet out my window at the Royal York!!! LOL. Glad you had a great trip and sorry you got stuck in the Air Canada delays. Could have been worse from what I saw! I was happy to have flown into Billy Bishop instead of Pearson.

Hi everyone - After many sleepless nights & trying to convince myself that we still wanted to be at the Beach Club... I've switched our reservation. We dropped club level but moved up to a 1BR villa at Kidani with a savannah view for only a little bit more. I'll keep the savannah view a surprise until we get there.

Thank you so much for all of your input & information. We'll make it to our dream resort one day... I'm sure I'll be back to this thread sometime soon!

I have a question about beds...

Talked with DBF and the plan is to book our vacation in the next month :woohoo: Now this will be my first time making a request of any kind. DBF is rather tall at 6'6" and we're requesting a King Bed so he can have the extra leg room

At YC are King Beds throughout the hotel floors? I'm just wondering because I'd love to have a balcony over a patio and I have this crazy thought that king beds are only on ground floor (Don't ask why... cause I don't even know why I think that ). If my crazy thought is correct and we're on the ground floor that's fine because the bed is more important that room location (asides from the Garden View we're planning on booking... DBF is not interested in having a view of the parking lot:rotfl:)

Thanks Feckless, I thought that might be the case..

I agree Thanks Very Much Teena for keeping all us informed! :thumbsup2

Don't worry about being a little "slow"... I was "slower" because I couldn't figure out a way to explain to you that the red circle was wrong!

Don't forget... THE QUIET POOLS HAVE HOT TUBS.... and I think they are much better privacy wise because they are off the beaten path and don't attract as many kids jumping in and out.

To those of you in a quandary about what to do regarding the pools.... Just remember that the Beach/Yacht/Beach Club Villas will still be around for your next trip so feel free to switch if you must. Everybody on this board wants you to have the best vacation possible!

Keep in mind though the reason we are so motivated to talk you into staying is that we know the Beach/Yacht/Beach Club Villas is so much more than just a pool. There are many great things about this resort that we all just love and we want you to experience. Feel free to make the right decision for your family... and if you decide to switch, always know that the Beach/Yacht/Beach Club Villas will still be there for your next stay!

I can't help but notice that Disney is doing some major spiffing up in anticipation of the opening of the new expanded Fantasyland. I know that the pool issue at Storm Along Bay is unrelated to this but I think it's safe to say that you are going to be encountering many closings and construction areas as you go around WDW. Having just gone for 5 days at the end of February I can say that when I was actually at the parks, all the construction did not seriously impact my stay because there was WAY MORE that was not under construction.... and I know that I will be back and things will be finished or different things will be closed/rehabbed.

The thing about Disney is that once you are there you don't have the time to worry about this or that... so just know that you are going to have a GREAT vacation, where ever you stay and that there is so much to choose from in the parks AND that the stuff that is closed will not be a trip wrecker.

Thanks to everybody who has come to this thread and shared their concerns and advice, especially to Teena, who takes the time on her own to find out the best possible information for us. Answering questions here is something she does on her own free time, and that speaks to her dedication as a cast member at the Beach Club. She is totally committed to helping people have the best possible stay at the resort..... and that speaks to why the folks that post here and try to help people with their trip concerns are so motivated to help you and help you understand what is so great about this resort!

I think that's the best way I can write to illustrate the Beach/Yacht/Beach Club Villas difference....

I appreciate having gotten so much information from the DIS.. My decision to switch was because of the fact that this trip was all about SAB.. With it being our first experience there I didn't want it to be tarnished by a significant pool rehab. I am very Sad to have switched but I will make the best of it..
For those of you having asked. The reservation cast member told me that they hadn't even received the information about the rehab except for the limited amount of information that she gave me..

I think if only your name is on the 4/29-5/2 reservation you will be the only one with a key and all guests require a key to enter SAB. But if it doesn't add any cost to your room then just put your husbands name on the reservation as the 2nd quest so that he will actually have a key. It's not like they count heads at bedcheck, so it won't matter that he isn't actually there.

If you have a roomie during the conference, then you might have a problem. I suppose you could always add him after check in for just that one night and pay the $25 dollar upcharge for a third adult. It might be worth it to you for you both to have one day to lounge around the pool together.

I'm really disappointed about the pool. This is our first trip to disney and I've been waiting to go since I was very young . I know these things happen, but I splurged on the BC because of the pool for my 6 year old son.

I went through a travel agent and I emailed her about this on Friday and I know she said we could use the pool at the boardwalk, but that clown slide is scary :sad2:. Not to mention that I'm sure it will be even more crowded than usual.

Part of me would like to move to another resort, but then I'd have to rearrange dining plans based on having a couple of meals right there at the BC. I don't know what to do :confused3

:grouphug:. We went with our gut and switched - I just spent a few hours moving around ADRs. Good luck with your decision!

I don't know the answer, but I have not heard that all Kings are on the ground floor. I do know that there aren't a lot of Kings throughout the resort, but again, I don't know the total number.

My suggestion is to word your request "King Bed, please, not ground floor if possible"

Keep in mind you can use not only the pool at the boardwalk (which I personally would not go out of my way for esp for just a slide imo that is not worth it) but the quiet pool at the beach club and the pool at bcv you can use...plus sab is much bigger than any other pool on property.

Since I have been reading about this pool closure so much I keep asking myself what I would do?! Personally I feel like the location of the beach club, walking distance to Epcot/HS, restaurants etc outweigh a portion of the pool being down for repair. that being said I do not understand why they did not do this pool work during jan, feb and early march when its cooler in florida and the crowds are lower before spring break time. the only thing I am thinking is they are expecting lower crowds during this time in April and that is the reason why. :confused3 I am really unsure how I would feel about the portion of the pool being closed. If it looks awful with baracades and there is major construction noise when you are trying to swin/relax and I was paying full price to stay at the beach club I def would be upset about it.

Just a quick update.
We arrived yesterday to BC. I met Teena in the lobby, and yes she is as sweet as everyone says.

I am blown away by the resort. It is beautiful and we have not even seen all of it! The kids had a quick swim last night before bed.
The staff at CL has been amazingly helpful and friendly. We were pixie dusted by having our entire stay on CL rather than just part of it.:thumbsup2

Early this morning I went to get a few things at Super Target. I bought the last 3 pool noodles in the store! They will stay at BC, I am just unsure who to leave them with.

EPCOT was beautiful this morning, we left around 1:00 when it started getting crowded. The flowers are indeed gorgeous for the Flower and Garden Festival.

Oh, and the weather could not be more perfect.

Gincar, thanks so much for the report! So happy to hear that you're enjoying BC and having a wonderful time. :) Enjoy the rest of your trip, and please ask that warmth and sunshine to stick around for a few weeks - we'll be there shortly and we're hoping for good weather, too!

Great start to your trip!!! Congrats on the pixie dust. Makes it a lot easier now that you don't have to move rooms during your trip.

It appears that the BC/YC is becoming a pilgrimage spot for travelling noodles. Didn't really want to go public with this until I had more news, but a couple of noodles were given to polynor by Tisha in PA. Lulu'sMom was going to provide a couple more (she is there now I think) and she was going to look for a bungee cord or other restraint to keep the noodles together.

GinCar- you should drop off the noodles to BC Bell Services desk when you are done with them (unless you end up meeting Lulu'sMom), and you may want to ask if there are other noodles being held under the name "Mrs. Noodle", although it looks like Lulu'sMom checks out the day after you do.

So same advice to Lulu'sMom- ask if there are any other noodles being held for Mrs. Noodle. It would be great if we could get them all together.

Don't forget to tip your waiters and waitresses, wait, I mean Bell Services CMs on your way out. Try the veal. I'm here all week!
