2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Here is a "toiletry update" from LuvLuvLuv, just posted on the other thread:

We were there a few weeks ago in 3 different resorts... I use H20 at home so I love all their products. I was pleased with all of them!!

POR Royal: Orange Blossom Shampoo, Conditioner (separate), Bar Soap, and Shower Gel

Poly CL: Grapefruit Verbena (maybe-but grapefruit for sure) Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower Gel, Lotion, and Sea Salt Soap

YC CL: Aquatics Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower Gel, and Mickey Bar Soap

I currently was using a full size Orange Blossom at home, so I already knew I'd love that--I also really liked the grapefruit--it was energizing!! The new bottles make it MUCH easier to get the product out!! They're cute too!!

So...stay tuned to see if these appear in a Beach Club bathroom near you!

For those of you that are returning from your trips.....Have any of you posted your recent BC trip over in the Trip Report thread lately? It's raining and crappy here in MA and I really want to immerse myself into the Beach Club and I love me some extensive disney details...... post a link if you can!

Thanks!:yay:

My trip report (in progress!) is in my signature!

Mickey mail came yesterday :banana::banana:only 31 days to go until I am back at the Beach Club :cool1:

You get FIVE DANCING BANANAS for that: :banana::banana::banana::banana:

Unfortunately, I don't see the "jealous cow" icon. That one would be me. :rotfl:

What about solar relief gel? That stuff is AWESOME after a long day in the sun. May need to look & see if I have any squirreled away from a previous trip to bring along...

I haven't got my Mickey Mail yet and we arrive at Disney in 22 days and at BC in 25 days! I think I have to call today. We got our DME tags but none of the resort information. I hate stress!

I received mine yesterday and everything was in one envelope , no longer two seperate mails . I needed an extra bag tag and called this morning and the CM told me that it is now just one peice of mail from the Walt Disney Travel Company . He was going to send the extra tag today . Have a great time :thumbsup2

If you are staying at the YC and want to make the walk short to the BC then you simply want to be close to the YC lobby .... so just say "close to lobby" as your request.

Close to lobby at the YC is the best for the walk over to BC since there is no cut-through. However, with a garden view room, if they can't get you close to the lobby, I would think that side door down by the boat dock would be just as good and there should be some GV rooms down there (gazebo view). That's why I thought when checking in don't do on-line and see where they put you. If you are down by that side entrance it wouldn't be all that bad. Just my opinion. Definately best though if close to lobby AND gazebo view (geez, I want to get back there so bad!!!).

I have a question! I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.

Me and my dd7 had such a fantastic time at the BC and the staff was so wonderful to us that I would really like to contact someone to give an awesome report about 2 of the CM's that treated me and my dd so great!!! If anyone knows who I should contact, I would appreciate it!

I would also like to send them a thank you card, but I am assuming I can just mail it to the resort?

Thanks for letting me waffle on and on yesterday... and thanks for helping me sort out what to do on my itinerary with either the 4 days parks + 1 party or the 2 days parks + 2 nights party. :goodvibes I knew the Dis gurus would come through with great advice. :grouphug:

So, my decision... *dum dum DUM* :rolleyes1

We're going to do the 2 Days Parks and 2 Nights Party. The thought of having to worry about flights being on time, then rush out after we check in on our first day there to get the most out of MK until 7pm would make me edgy. Our flights would get in at 11am barring any delays. I couldn't see getting into MK until roundabout 1-ish at the earliest, then having to get lunch. All with a 5 year old that's been up since 5am. That's asking for big, big trouble. So instead, we're going to do check in, have some nibbles, relax and take a nap and head over at 4 for the party. :woohoo: I think this sounds plausible.

Another conundrum has arisen! Advice most welcome, as usual...

We've now got a "what do we do on our last day?" dilemma. My hubs didn't want to do DTD on the last day since he says "It's like you're already gone and have left Disney. It's a downer." :confused3  (He's turned into such a "Disney Feeling" sorta guy. It's why he wasn't keen on booking the extra night at the Contemporary and thought we should do BC instead. LOL. I agreed but managed to coerce him with the "walking to MK and back after the party" perk. We really both fell in love with the BC last year. No worries about being swayed by the CR.) Anyway, he didn't want to do DTD but we were planning on getting the latest flight out. We were planning on swimming in the morning, checking out of the BC and then ... then? We won't have a park ticket that day so it'd have to be something resort-centered. I wound up booking a lunch at Sanaa since we haven't really explored AKL much and it's still got loads of "Disney Feeling." It's not a definite though.

So, what would you do on your last day if you couldn't go to the park....? Do you think a mosey around AKL is decent? We'd have up 'til probably 5-ish in the evening before we had to head to the airport. Here's what our new itinerary looks like:

  • Day 0: Earliest N/S flight from Chicago, Check-in at CR at Noon-ish. Lunch, Nap then MNSSHP at 4PM.
  • Day 1: Ride Monorail to GF & Poly for some retail therapy, Check into the lovely BC, DTD?, Swimming in the afternoon, Boardwalk in the P.M.
  • Day 2: Walk to DHS, Lunch at 50's Prime Time. Boat back to BC / Boat to DHS / Starring Rolls and Fantasmic!, Walk back to BC.
  • Day 3: Breakfast at Swalphin's Fresh Market; Swimming in A.M; Prerequisite nap, P.M. at MNSSHP
  • Day 4: Day at Epcot, Eating and Drinking ALL the bad stuff EVER!
  • Day 5: Swim, AKL for Sanaa Lunch, Fly Home

The GM of the Yacht and Beach Club resort is Mim Flynn- you can write to her at the following address (sorry, I don't have an email address for her)

Ms. Mim Flynn
General Manager, Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resort
1800 EPCOT Resort Boulevard
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

I think you are correct- for individual CMs, address a thank you card with as much info as you have:

Jane Doe, Beach Club Concierge or Joe, Beach Club Front Desk and use the address above.

Thanks for doing that- it really does have an impact!

Missoutandabout- what time is your return flight? We ALWAYS go to a park on our departure day (but DME never comes to get us until 5pm or later). Have you crunched the numbers to see if going to 2 MNSSHP and just a 2 day park pass is cheaper than 1 MNSSHP and a 4 or 5 day pass? I can't remember what the magic day is, but once you get to a certain amount, to add a day is under $10. I like MNSSHP, but for the premium they charge for it, I wouldn't do it twice, especially if you don't think you can hang in until the very end.

And I REALLY hate to throw another wrench into your problem, but check in isn't until 3pm, so you might get to the CR, ready for that nap, and not have a room ready for you until 3pm. If you can do MNSSHP on a different day, I probably would.

Just got the okay to add another night to our BC stay (June 6th through the 8th) so I had to come in and finally announce myself. I've been lurking for the past couple of months. Never stayed at Beach Club (normally a Poly girl but it's a short Epcot and HS only trip before a cruise). I'm really excited.

DH & DS doesn't know we are staying at BC. He thinks we are staying at Coronado. He and DS will love the pool area I am sure.

Kinda hoping DH will love Beach Club enough to make the leap to DVC. Fingers crossed!!

Congrats! We will be at the YC that same time. The pool is AMAZING! :beach:

:thumbsup2 I love the wrenches! No worries. This is exactly why I like to talk it through on the Dis since I know I'll get different points-of-view and most likely get to look at it from a new angle. :teacher:

When I worked out the ticket pricing, it was only $25 more to do 4 Days Parks + 1 Night of MNSSHP than to do 2 Days Parks + 2 Nights of MNSSHP. I was originally leaning toward the 4+1 but I couldn't imagine us getting to do all that we wanted in the MK on that first day since it "closes" at 7pm for the party -- which made me go back with the 2 Days + 2 Parties option. (We did the party last year and managed to get the then-4 year old to stay up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed until midnight. The nap earlier that day definitely included some sort of black magic.) If we did that this year, we'd do the first night as focusing on the rides and save the second party night for the Halloween stuff: parades, characters, etc.

Here's what our revised 4 Days Parks + 1 Party Itinerary looked like:

  • Day 0: Earliest N/S flight from Chicago, Check-in at CR at Noon-ish. Head to MK, Lunch, Rides and Back to CR at 7PM.
  • Day 1: Check into the lovely BC, Epcot, Swimming in the afternoon, Boardwalk in the P.M.

  • Day 3: Breakfast at Swalphin's Fresh Market; Swimming in A.M; Prerequisite nap, P.M. at MNSSHP
  • Day 4: Walk to Epcot. Drink and eat plenty of bad things.
  • Day 5: Swim, AKL - Lunch at Sanaa, Cry as we leave BC!

The first day is what had me worried most, which is why we're now leaning toward the 2 Days Parks + 2 Days. I'm worried that if we stuck with the itinerary above, barring any flight delays etc., we'd have roughly 6 hours minus time allotted for lunch. Although, if we did stick with the above 4+1 itinerary we could move Epcot which falls on Day 1 to Day 5 and it'd keep us in my husband's much required "Disney Feeling." Our return flight would be at 7:45pm. I just seem to love making things more confusing than necessary!

Please forgive me if this has been asked/answered in an earlier post in this thread. I read the first fifty pages and didn't see it, so thought I would just sneak a post in here and ask.

My family is arriving via car in early September (8-14) for our first trip to the BC. My questions is, is there a driveway/underpass near the entrace to do a bag drop and register? Or does one park in the parking area and walk with bags in hand to the lobby? Just don't won't to waste time nor energy once I get there before heading out to the pool with my girls. Any advice is appreciated.

:welcome: Tony NY!!!

I know others answered your questions- just wanted to say :welcome:

Please let us know if you have other questions!

.

Thank you. It's very nice ! I read this thread. It's very interesting. I don't un derstand all the words lol but enough to learn about disneyworld !

Welp, I know where I'm headed whether it be on 2 nights of MNSSHP or one day and one night at MK: Main Street Confectionery. Red velvet and chocolate cake pops must be tested... for research, of course. :rolleyes1

... He and DS will love the pool area I am sure.

Kinda hoping DH will love Beach Club enough to make the leap to DVC. Fingers crossed!!

:woohoo: I'm wagering they'll absolutely flippin' LOVE it. Stormalong Bay is -- along with being able to walk to Epcot and DHS -- the main reason we fell in love with BC.

Now this is just me, but I can't imagine going all the way to WDW and having as much downtime as you have planned in your 2 + 2 option. Granted,my DS is a trooper, and never was much of a napper, but other than an hour or 2 in the pool each day, he wanted to be in the parks! :rotfl:

Frankly, I would be leery of the first day MNSSHP, especially since everyone has been up already so early (nap or no nap). I like the idea of spending party of the day at MK until the party, then getting to bed early and being up the next day, ready to go.

And what about leaving it as you mentioned above, but on Day 5, head to AK park. I know for us, its only a half day park anyway. You would have plenty of time before your flight.

I'm not helping, am I? :rotfl:
