Ninja Mom: Just brew up some coffee, settle back in a comfy chair, and give us the darn trip report!!!!

I have to get my BC/YC Disney Fix!

I absolutely loved the green & blue holiday decor at BC last week!

Oh, now I miss the resort. I loved seeing the Christmas decor up the week after Thanksgiving and both the Yacht and Beach Clubs were just lovely all bedecked :artist:. After coming home sick and trying to deck our own halls and shop for gifts plus catch up on work I have not had much time to relax and fondly recall our stay. I really loved it there.

Any word on Hurricane Hanna's? Has it reopened yet? New menu?

Just got back from the YC last night. Hurricane Hanna's was not open.
Loved the YC and will definitely stay there again- it was quiet and relaxing which is a very nice contrast to the full-on Disney craziness one goes through every day at the parks.

Glad to hear that!!! WL was like that as well, just nice and relaxing to come "home" to. When we had visited BC, we had found it to be quite busy and loud but felt like YC was more serene....we can't wait for our stay there in April!!!! :cool1:

I sure noticed that about BC, too! Part of the problem was the tile floor (YC is wood). But, there were a lot more little kids over there. My children are older and the serenity of the YC was most welcome. I was at the BC Marketplace and I asked the CM if it was always like this- she thought it was because the YC has more convention attendees but there were any conventions going on when we were there.

We also visited the GF, and while it certainly lived up to its name, it was a little too much. To me, luxury is different from extravagance. The YC fits my preference for a sort of laid-back sense of indulgence without being showy and over-the-top.

I did want to ask- has anyone else had trouble checking in at the YC/BC? Our reservation was in the system but somehow inaccessible- the day before we checked in I had called to put some gift cards on my account and the CM mentioned there was something up with the reservation- which I had noticed since it was no longer on the Disney website. She said that she (and the hotel staff) could "see" it but I could not. She also told me I had a water view room- but I had paid for garden view. :confused3

When we went to check in it took 45 minutes and the manager himself to actually get us registered and in a room. Pretty exasperating considering we flew in from Montana.

In the end I felt as though Disney upgraded us in advance and that either messed up the reservation or they did it because the reservation had gotten messed up..... either way, it was just a really weird situation, and I was glad to have an actual hard copy of the reservation in my possession and not just a link to it from my smartphone, because it had disappeared!

Can't wait to read your trip report NM!

The laundry/alcohol subtitle intrigues me.

Welcome back!

A couple of weeks ago Disney did a huge update to their computer system. These things never go well so I'm wondering if it was something like that. Also the upgrade you got may have had something to do with the delay, but I'm just guessing on that one.

Although I did not experience any delays at check in I did notice how the staff, through out my stay, was taking the time to get things right. I think the biggest handicap to the staff is a computer system that is cumbersome. It does not lend itself to the flexibility needed to accommodate a staff that is always looking toward the best in customer service.

Just my opinion....

The upgrade was on my reservation before we even got to the resort and experienced the delay- I actually found out about it the night before. That was just one part of the weirdness! I have to say that it did make me less unhappy about waiting, though. It was almost as if Disney knew there were going to be problems and did a pre-emptive upgrade!

I'm in the early stages of planning my first trip to WDW in 15 years and I seriously can't decide between YC and BC. (Boardwalk was on my initial list but I stayed there as a teenager right after they opened so I figured I should go with something else this time. Plus for some reason I remember being so jealous of BC when we went to the Cape May Cafe for dinner one night. LOL)

I've read many trip reports and looked at every picture I can find and I STILL can't decide between the two. They each have pros and cons but none are strong enough for me to make a solid decision! Since I won't be traveling with kids I think the fact that YC is more low-key would be great (and I love the decor!), but I'm looking at the resort on Google Maps and it just seems so much bigger than BC, plus it looks to be a lot further away from Epcot. I know you should be prepared for lots of walking when you visit theme parks, and I personally don't mind, but I get a bit worried about my mom at times.

Quick question..are there a few exits around the building so you can just pop out to the walking path, or do you have to trek through the entire hotel to exit at a main entrance?

Oh one more question! I see people in reviews saying that ground floor rooms are great because you can just pop out of your sliding door and be on your way. Do the sliding doors have some kind of auto-locking feature? If not, are people just leaving their rooms open for anyone to pop IN? LOL Normally I'd be against a ground floor room but if this is the case then I might request one.

Plus I'm a bit worried there will be a convention the week I'm there. Does anyone have experience staying there while a big convention is going on? On a recent trip I made to the Disneyland Hotel in CA there were a ton of convention guests everywhere and they were beyond rude. They seriously acted like they owned the place because they were there for business. I'll take loud children over rude (and loud and drunk!) adults any day!

Thanks in advance! :)
