2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part III- DO NOT POST HERE- Summer/Fall

Hi everyone,
I just booked a garden view room at the Yacht club for my hubby and I 's anniversary next weekend!
I requested a King bed, but I just read somewhere that the king beds are Murphy beds and they are also in smaller rooms..possibly without a balcony.
Does anyone know if this is the case with ALL king standard rooms, because I think I would perfer the two queens.. a roll up bed just doesnt sound very good on the back after a long day of walking! lol
Thank you for your help!

I know the number of King Beds at the Yacht Club in both regular and club level rooms is very limited. I am not aware that they are Murphy beds. I haven't heard that the King beds are in smaller rooms or rooms without balconies (at the YC, almost all of the rooms have a full or larger balcony)

I am going to post your question over on the YC/BC FAQ thread- maybe someone over there has stayed in a room with a king bed and can give you more info. Click on the link in my signature to get there.

Our May 2012 @ the BC is booked!!!!!! My sis just has to call back tomorrow and add a day to the resv., since they only allow you to book 7 days on points at a time. Don't know who's more excited my dd or me!!

That is awesome....

Hello All! I have been trying to catch up on all the pages I missed. I love the new pictures of Lily! Such a cutie pie! Best wishes to all at WDW and all going soon.

Oh, and just to bring you up to speed- the baby is Teena's 3 month old grandaughter. I post the pictures Teena sends me but that has caused some confusion in the past...

This clears up SO MUCH!!! I thought you and Teena were in some way attached! :rotfl:

I'm agonizing with the decision about whether or not to stick with CL. I can downgrade, I know, but I don't want to rely on IPO to make my ADRs if I am not ultimately going to stay CL, KWIM? I'd feel guilty! I am going to be traveling on the 180 day mark so it would be awesome to have the IPO make the ADRs.

My DD is reading this, and making fun of acronyms. :rotfl::lmao: It DOES look ridiculous if you aren't used to it! She wants to add some smileys:

Only attached as good friends.

I posted this several weeks ago and added it to page 1 (in the Lily's Pad section):

I know a lot of you are new to the thread- there is a lot of history here and a lot of great friendships made in past versions of this thread, but I want to introduce Teena to anyone who doesn't know her (yet).

Teena is a greeter in the lobby of the Beach Club

Look for her on Sundays and Mondays unless she and Bob are on one of their treasured cruises to Castaway Cay or out visiting her two shining lights in Vegas, her daughter Jeanne and her first grandchild, Lily born in July.

We were all eagerly awaiting "Peanut's" arrival in the months leading up to July and even had some fun, friendly competition to guess her birthdate and whether she was a Princess or a Pirate.

Lily's arrival was a very special moment for our beloved Teena in a year that has been tough due to some health issues. She bravely shared what she was going through with all of us, once again, in an attempt to help others who may be facing similar challenges. :grouphug:

Teena has faithfully posted on this board and has helped us all gain great knowlege about these resorts, so many of us who hang around here can now also answer the questions that are posted here.

I will occasionally post the photos she provides to me, because, well, Teena may know everything there is to know about the Beach Club but she don't know beans about technology! :rotfl:

OK, intro over! Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

If you have not fully made the decision to switch, I wouldn't cancel now just because you feel guilty having them make your reservations. if you are CL at your 180 mark, then I think it is ok to have IPO make your ADRs. If you ultimately decide to downgrade, make your decision on factors other than the services that were already provided.

Is there anyone else that you trust to make your reservations? Do you have any super difficult ones? (Fantasmic Package, Ohana, CRT, is Le Cellier still difficult these days?)

Ohana and the Fantasmic Package at the Brown Derby are on my list... I was meaning to ask you why you don't have IPO make your reservations, Dee! Have you had trouble?

Not answering for Dee but having stayed CL several times I have never used IPO for ADR's. I love doing this myself. Even more fun now that they are online. I will shift them around so many times before I get them nailed down. Just part of my FUN!

That's my answer, too. I have stayed CL twice, but I really enjoy the reservation process. In 2009, I made my reservations by phone. I got everything I wanted pretty much the times I wanted. In 2010, I used the online reservations and again, everything was what I wanted, including Le Cellier at 6:10. The only major time difference from my original plan was Ohana at 6:20 instead of 6 PM.

When I checked in at CL and the CM looked at my reservations, she said "Wow! These are great times!"

I did have the Mama Melrose Fantasmic pkg in 2009, but I chose not to book one in 2010.

In a week I'm goin' to Disney!!!:banana::banana::banana:
I had previously decided not to do online check in because of comments I've read here but now I'm starting to question that. My requests were a crib, daybed and ground floor. With the BC being so busy and arriving at 9PM with an (probably screaming:scared1:) infant and a toddler, I'm wondering if online check in will save me time and at the desk I likely won't get my floor request anyway.(Although I like getting the service from the great CMs:dance3:.) Any thoughts?:confused3

Hey y'all! Does anyone have photos of the playground by the pool?

If not... I'd be happy to take some when I'm there in less than two weeks! :woohoo:

I replied over on the other thread, too. Unfortunately there is no longer a playground at the Beach Club. I'm not sure when it was removed, but this is what the area looks like now:

As someone on the other thread commented, I think there is a playground at the Boardwalk.

I know that the playground is marked on the SAB map on the first page, but it looks like that (AWESOME) map was created when the playground was still there.

Aw, stink. I found a photo on wdwinfo.com of the BW "playground." It's pretty much just a slide from what I can see in the photo, and so close to the pool over there that I think my DD would be more interested in the pool. Thank you!

Thanks Mike and Dee! I would normally do my ADRs but I am going to be at a conference on November 3rd, and I don't know if I am going to be able to do them myself... Using IPO seems like the best thing in the circumstances. I need to figure out where we are going to be when and then try my best to figure it all out.

I'm also struggling with what day to plan Universal. I was thinking of buying the two day pass because it isn't that much more expensive, although on reflection one day should do it! I don't want to be away from the BC two days. :rotfl: Maybe I'll buy the one day with the express pass option so we can get everything done in one day. That's one day that we won't be around much but I think I'll book ADRs for every day anyway...

My brain hurts!!!! LOL

Hey there BC/YC experts. We're booked for dinner at Cape May on our arrival day. I'm sort of wondering if there will be anything for the kids and I to eat. I'm not worried about DH - I booked it with him in mind. Anyway, the kids and I don't eat meat or fish, seafood, etc. and we're picky eaters in a nutshell. Are we doomed?

Thanks in advance for your insight. :thumbsup2

Wow, seems like a lot of DIS'ers are hitting the BC and YC these coming weeks. Enjoy and have a blast! :wizard::thumbsup2

Just dropping a quick note for the list; I'm still scheduled for the same days in december but have been moved from BC (water view) to YC (standard view). After keeping a track on things, finally some rooms with roll in shower opened up. Or that is; in the US database, as the roomtypes were not available for booking in the UK database. Seeing as I booked through WDTC UK that kinda was a thingie. Leave it upto the CM's to make it work. Took them quite a while, but eventually they got it transfered in the systems, changed my ressie and got me the needed roll in shower. :thumbsup2 And to make it even better; they refunded me the price difference! :worship: Sounds like no biggie when used to the US system, but for those of us with UK bookings, we have to pay in full at 8 weeks out and any changes resulting in a cheaper or same priced reservation actually cost a changing fee. Not only didn't they hit me with that, they actually refunded me after that deadline. :woohoo::worship:

That's great news!!! Glad you were able to get a roll in shower to make your trip more manageable. I have made the change to the resort on page 1 (MickeyT- this is a December guest)
