So one of the biggest selling points of YC for us would be SAB. After just asking a CM about the pool hours, she said that typically it closes at 8pm...WHAT???? Is this true for a month like May? :scared1: Seems a little early and we have a couple of days where we want to end up at SAB around 7pm! Not really worth it if we will only be able to enjoy it for an hour. :confused3

When we were just there closing was at 10. I think it varies.

8 sounds kind of early, particularly for May! In July, I know SAB has closed around 10 or 11 pm.

What is the earliest closing anyone has experienced?

We were there September 11-18 and SAB was open until 10 every night. Our teenagers often went out to swim in the evening. I would think it would be open at least that late in May.

:santa:

Just switched my Dec reservation from Pop to the BC!! I decided to get an AP this year for the first time ever, and when I saw the AP rates for the BC, I decided this would be a great trip to stay at my favorite Disney resort.

Haven't been in Dec ever, and haven't stayed at the Y and B since 2003, so I'm extra excited. Since it's been awhile since I've stayed here, I've been enjoying skimming/reading this super helpful thread. Thanks! Counting the days til Dec and hoping the weather will be warm enough for at least one quick swim in SAB.

Well, I am sorry it has taken me a while to announce this but i wanted to make sure everything was ok.

As of the closing the begining of next week we will be DVC owners!!!:yay::yay::yay::banana::banana::banana: My younge brother who is in the Army just became owners in July and got a great deal. So he told me about it. Well, I know with our doctor bills ect. our credit was not so good and we only had the money for the trip and no more! Well, we did not get financed but they told me if we wanted to get our foot in the door we could buy 50 points at Saratoga. Well, the cost was still over our budget for our trip and we did not want to give up our vacation in December. Well, I called my brother back and told him we just financially could not do it. We were short about 1500.00. Next thing I know he said Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday I am giving you your dream! My wonderful brother helped us out to make up the difference. He put the deposit down and last week we took our trip money and paid it off. Today was the last day for the 10 day hold and hopefully monday we will close. I know 50 points are not a lot but no matter what we will beable to come to Disney World for a least a few days every year for the rest of our lives!

Now, for everything gained there must be sacrafices. Well, after closing I will be canceling our cash reservations for this year! We are taking this year's points and next year's points and going to stay at a studio (not one bedroom) from Dec. 12th-14th and then a studio at Old Key West studio 14th-20th. So we are cutting our trip down. The other issues are we now had to pay for the dinning plan seperate on top of our original budget. So no deluxe dinning. Another cut!:sad2: The other major cut is tickets! When we stay at the BCV no parks(we want to got to Epcot on the 13th but don't have money for the single day base ticket) but our stay at OKW 14th - 20 we have 3 tickets that we have for time in the past. We plan on hitting parks on extra magic hours to make the bes of it. It came down to eating or playing.

I hate that we had cut backs and that we are having to rearrange our plans some but we are gaining so much more!

No matter how cold December will be Joeseph will get to get in the SAB and get his dream of staying at the BC. Maybe not on his birthday but he is so excited about becomeing owners he don't care that we downgraded the room.

Words can not explain the humble heart I have that my brother blessed our family so much. His career in the Army has kept us seperated so much but what he told me was that with both of us DVC owners our kids will always get to meet up at least once a year from now on! So in May I will get to travel back down and see my brother, sister-in-law, and my nieces (two and half Payton, and 4 year old Isabel) I haven't seen since April 2009!

I am sorry for changing our dates again, but we ae so excited!:yay:

We will be at the beach club villias the 12th-14th of December. (excited because the 12th is a monday and we might get to see Teena!)

Everything looks good just praying nothing delays closing next week. All paperwork and money is down so nw it is just a waiting period!

The only other thing is getting all the extra money togeather for gratuities on our few table services, laundry quarters, and drink money! Spliting a cocktail seems a lot cheaper than one a piece! Gas money and scooter money covered!

Hi All: newbie to this thread...was just offered an upgrade from PORS to the YC for thanksgiving week. :cool1: I have heard about construction at the YC, can anyone comment on it's impact to the resort?

I was ready for construction at PORS but they seem to close one building or section at a time...YC might be different if you are in the middle of a construction area.

I was so excited...please tell me this won't really impact us. :confused3

Sometimes people get lost in this fast moving thread - so welcome (I'm mostly a lurker, so will leave it to the regulars for the more festive welcome, plus this Dec. will be my first stay at the YC, so I'm no expert.)
I've noted that Disney has sent a few upgrade email offers out lately from moderates to YC for a steal of a price - congrats on that
and last I heard the refurb was still over at the Beach club.
Oh, and I just wanted to see the days to go on my ticker again;)

OK, I'll do the fancy welcome!!!

If you would like to be added to our Page 1 Guest List, please let us know your checkin and checkout dates.

I haven't been around during any of the recent work but from most of the reports from people who recently returned, the work has not been intrusive to their vacations. If they are literally working outside of your room or balcony and it bothers you, you can always check with the front desk to see if it is possible to change your room (although it may be tough T-giving week if the resort is fully booked). No way to know now where the work will be taking place in November.

Hopefully others will keep giving us reports when they get back.

Well, just received an e-mail from Expedia regarding our Dec 3rd flight to Disney. Not pretty. Seems Air Tran (who we never have flown with, and never will) has canceled our non stop flight from Boston and replaced it with a flight leaving 2 hours earlier with a 4 hour layover in Baltimore ! NOT !! And no other non stop flights that day. So, I called Expedia, and was able to get a full refund because Air Tran had canceled the flight. Seems all the bad things I had heard about Air Tran are true. So, we will be re-booking with another airline (for more $ most likely), but at least we will have peace of mind. 1 word to those who might be thinking of flying with Air Tran - DON'T ! And at least now I get to see my ticker ! Have a great nite.

All I can say is WOW! I truly believe that there is not a better value for your vacation dollar than Walt Disney properties so I think you made a great investment. Disney appeals to all ages and stages so that's another plus. The fact that the kids will have something to share and look forward to together will last a life time.

My son has one share of Disney stock so I will keep an eye on things and give you a heads up if the company should start to tank ;)

Congratulations Heather, Charlie and Joeseph!

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you!

I'm with you on Air Trash-Can! They cancelled our non-stop 3 hour flight from Orlando to Boston (2 -5 PM) last year and changed it to a flight leaving at 11 am, layover in Atlanta and we got in at 5 PM.

They hook you in with decent times and good prices and then pull the rug out!

The worst part it cost me a chance to see Teena during our trip.:sad2:

Fly anything else!

Amen vanillarum! I was burned the same way by Air Tran. DisneyMomX7 has her own horror stories.

Congratulations Heather.....Here's hoping to many years of Disney fun.

8 sounds kind of early, particularly for May! In July, I know SAB has closed around 10 or 11 pm.

What is the earliest closing anyone has experienced?

Our most recent SAB experiences:

March 2010: Closed at 10pm
July 2010: Closed at 11pm
February 2011: Closed at 8pm (but was also super cold!)
August 2011: Closed at 10pm (but was the very end of August)
