Question: we're booked in a standard-view CL room at the YC in November. Does anyone have a photo of the view from that type of room? Or can point me in the direction to one? Thank you! :)

A standard view (whether it is club level or not club level) will be a view of a parking lot or a roof. It normally is very little more (around $10 or under) per night per room to upgrade to a garden view which would be a view of anything green (woods, courtyard, garden).

Teena, forgive me for asking, but what is wrong with your leg? The reason I am asking is because I had severe leg pain and swelling in one leg and it ended up being a blood clot. I got the clot from not being active following surgery and from flying.
I don't want to scare you but keep and eye on it.

Apparently in normal people language, after the stent removal, toxins went crazy in my body and started attacking everything. I had fever and shakes and pain everywhere ... shoulders, knees, legs, arms ... the pain kept moving. Most of the severe pain is gone. Right now the only pain that is left is in the back of my legs. Yesterday it was upper back of legs and today its lower back of legs. When I stand without moving they cramp and I have to walk. When I sit in certain chairs, it hurts and I have to stand up and walk around. But with the pain meds, it's definitely liveable with. When it started during the night on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, the pain was much worse than the kidney pain or child birth! When they were trying to hook up the IV in the ER to get morphine into me, I had to stand up because the pain was too bad if I sat down and laying down was even worse. It's nothing near that now and right now while sitting at my desk in the nice cushioned chair, it doesn't hurt at all. I cleaned the bathroom this morning and standing and bending over the toilet cramped the legs bad so I walked in place while scrubbing. Such fun! The doctor knows I'm on a 6 hour flight Tuesday and he said ok. I think they are pretty sure it's the infection/toxin thingy.

Thats good that the doctors are aware of this- after everything that you've been through you don't need any more problems!!!! Its better to be safe than sorry.

Hopefully by the time that you see Lilly you will be pain free- if not when you see her the pain will be forgotten anyway!!

Okay guys, I have officially hit my under a month countdown.:banana::banana:

Can't wait. So excited. So losing my mind. ;)

I have a long weekend planned for Laughlin Nevada coming up so I'll be getting a break after a very long Summer Reading schedule. But I'm really looking forward to Florida as my actual "vacation".

I am not an over planner in fact I prefer a laid back approach but I feel better having some stuff pre researched, on paper, and available so that at any given moment I can go back and say okay I want to do A, and according to my info we should do 1. 2. and 3. to achieve that.

However after spending so much time on the boards and this thread I think 'Holy Guacamole, I am so not prepared'.

Got my hair cut off (like a lot of cut off:scared1:) for the upcoming journey to the desert and then Florida.

Started making my lists. What I want to take in what bags. What I'm taking with me and what I'm buying there. Key points that I want to hit in each park. Lists of confirmation numbers and codes for the few ADR's I made, hotel, plane, rental car etc.

Have the numbers of my pool noodle buddies before and after me.

Have been making up day plans and alternative plans and alternative to the alternative plans in my head and starting to actually write up so loose notes to help me decide my days.

It's starting to kick in that I'll be there soon.

Just had to twitch for a minute....I know that I'm not unprepared but every once in a while I see the days left and I think why don't I have columns of color coordinated choices and minute by minute park shedules.

ACKKKKKKK!!!!!!

Lily is my first grandchild. Jeanne is my only child. They live in Las Vegas where Jeanne is a second grade school teacher. Hopefully I'll be flying out as planned on Tuesday. Thanks so much for the good wishes. Like I said earlier, you guys have helped me through so much this year. :grouphug:

Oh Teena how wonderful and congratulations on becoming a grand mother.:woohoo: She is beautiful and here is some pixiedust: in hoping that you are able to go on Tuesday.

I posted a question about SAB on a separate thread a while back but realized I should've posted it here. Hoping someone might know the answer:goodvibes.

I know that there was an extensive rehab to SAB in 2009 (looks like it went from Jan - end of March). Aside from the shorter closures for maintenance, I was just wondering how often these more lengthy rehabs occur - anyone know?

From memory, the SAB big-rehab seems like a 3-year cycle. But if stuff breaks (not routine maintenance, but major devices that keep it functioning) it can of course cause a rehab. It has lots of moving parts so it needs lots of TLC.

If they can control it -- it seems like they do January when they can.

We've been lucky never to hit a SAB rehab.

Thanks for the info. Hmm, if it's a three year cycle that could affect us next year.

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but does anyone know if you can order room service from the Yachtsman Steakhouse menu?

On our recent honeymoon at Grand Floridian you could order room service from Narcoosees and Citricos which we did several times as it is an excellent value on the deluxe dining plan -- gratuity and the extra charges are included.

I was just wondering if you could do something similar at Yacht & Beach, and if so does anyone know if they would also deliver to rooms at Beach Club Villas as well?

Thanks!

natebenma what a beautiful picture. Sure do miss those times with my DS15. But I have to say we still have great times with him.

Ok this may sound like a really silly question, but you said that Teena will have a chance to see Lily in a few weeks. Please forgive me but I must have missed something along the way. Is this precious little one related to Teena?

Teena, sending you lots of :grouphug::grouphug: and sure hoping that you are feeling better.

Just to further clarify- I am not related to these beautiful people, although Teena is like family to me. :)

I post the pictures of Lily that Teena shares with me as a courtesy to the technically challenged.

Marlton Mom---Hope you have a great weekend in Pittsburgh! I live in WV, about 20 minutes west of the Pittsburgh airport. Pittsburgh has a lot of hidden treasures! :)

Teena---Glad to see that Lily is now a happy, bathing beauty!!! ;) I hope everything works out for your trip next week to see that beautiful baby and I hope you're feeling better!! I'll see you when we check in on 9/11!! :cool1:

23 days til BC!!

Cindy

I have a question about SAB. Since it has a lazy river can you rent tubes there? If so - how much are they? Thanks!

Another tip. If you would like to try them out (for free!) go down late in the pool hours (after 9pm earlier this month) and there are plenty laying around and floating in the lazy river. People will just pass them to you as they are leaving. We really didn't want one but what the heck, I'll try it.

You're right ... I'm sure a dose of Lily will set me right!

Tell Miss Lily :cutie: we all said hey:wave:.

Oh the pic of Miss Lilly was so beautiful!!

Time is going quickly! Made another big payment on the ressie today. Dying to get a room only discount or free dining!

We're checking into the YC on Tues and can't wait, thanks for all the info on here :)
One question - what's he best way for us to get to MK for an early ADR? Our ADR is at 8.05 but MK has EMH so is also open at 8.00. I've got no idea how long it might take or what time buses start running from!

Bumping up your question-

I have always taken the bus (around 7:30) in the morning from BC to MK to arrive at MK by 8am EMH opening. But since you are having breakfast (Crystal Palace?), you probably don't want to cut it that close so you can have extra time in the empty park.

My guess is that if you were at the bus stop no later than 7 am, you would be fine. I don't know how frequently the buses arrive, but the bus ride itself is about 15 minutes, then you will have bag check and restaurant checkin for early entry.

The other alternative is a taxi, but if you ask to go to MK, you will be brought to the TTC and have to take the monorail or ferry to the MK gates. If you do take a cab, ask to be dropped off at the Contemporary Resort. You can either take the mono from there, or walk (we walked from CR to MK in July, it was around 10 minutes).

Here is what I know about SAB rehabs, but someone who has more information should certainly pipe up and correct me if necessary.

As HelenParr indicated, parts of the SAB are closed down in the winter, for routine maintainence. The whole pool is not shut down, they just do one part at a time and the remainder of the pool remains open.

Last spring, the slide had to undergo unplanned work. The rest of the pool was open, the slide was closed and YC/BC/BCV guests were permitted to use the Boardwalk pool and slide to make up for the closure of the Jib slide. You could walk to BW or a shuttle was also offered.

I don't know if the entire pool has ever been shut down for work since it has been open. Anyone know?

In the 7+ years I've worked there I can never remember the entire pool ever being down except during thunderstorms and when the temps get too cold to open. All the rehab is done section by section and usually one-third of the pool is down at a time. Also every January it is down for the yearly maintenance but that's done one-third of the pool at a time. Personally, I just can't imagine how they keep that thing going with sand in it. My brain doesn't compute how a filter system can work with sand in the pool.

Thank you for posting that beautiful picture of Teena's grand daughter.:hippie:

Teena, Hope you are feeling better today and getting ready to go visit Miss Lily and your daughter. We will be staying at the YC next June and we will definitely stop by to meet you. You remind me of my grand mother whom every one loved and adored.:flower3:
