2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part II

Forgot to reference the FAQ post on the first page of our thread! Here it is:

Should I checkin online in advance or wait until I am at the resort?

As noted in the responses above, if you don't have any questions and if you are going to just grab your keys and go, then you are great candidate for the online checkin. If there is a possibility that you will ask for a room change because you are not satisfied with the one that has been assigned to you, then you should wait until you arrive at the resort to check in.

We are going to be at the BC 7/2-10. I was wondering if anybody knew how much it cost to do the tie dye shirts at the pool? They had this last year but it didn't fit our schedule, going to try to fit it in this year.
Thanks!

As the bounceback photo was posted, it got me thining...If they are not offering 2012 on the bounceback, Can you get the offer for 2012 anyways? We usually always see an offer for the next year.
Another Question on BB offers?
Will we get the Free Dining offer that they offer in September for the BB or will it be the 40% off one? I am hoping for the latter...

Hi doccoc! Hope you're doing well. I don't know the official policy, but I can report my recent experience with the BB offer. While staying at AKL over Memorial Day weekend, I called to apply the 40% BB to our August BWI and BC reservations. The CM on the phone told me that, when we arrive in August, we should find a BB offer for 2012 in our room. On another thread, a poster said that BB for 2012 will not be available until 2012, so I don't know for certain whether the CM I spoke with is correct. But it sounds like the CM's report is consistent with your experience.

I hope the 2012 BB is room only, like the current 2011 BB! Free dining is not a good value for our family and we prefer the room only discount.

Does anyone have a picture taken from the balcony of a BC Club Level Standard View room? Preferably one of the ones over the Front Entrance?

I'm book for CL Standard View right now with a good discount. I plan on requesting being close to the elevators and lounge which, if my request is granted, would put me in one of the rooms overlooking the front entrance. There are no GV rooms available for my time period. I'm debating spending the money to upgrade to Lagoon View but I don't know if the extra several hundred dollars is worth it (I don't hang out on the balcony much but also don't want a very ugly/noisy view/room).

Is it very noisy in the morning if you are on the 5th floor overlooking the front entrance? Is the view horrible or is it OK as long as I don't look down and stare at the taxis stopping in front. :)

If you look right out, you see a roof. However, way over the treeline, you can see the fireworks from Magic Kingdom at night. I stayed in one of those rooms. I never sat out there but I did open the drapes at night and saw the fireworks in the distance.

Thanks Teena. I wouldn't mind seeing some fireworks, even from a distance. :thumbsup2

Do you think, of the standard view rooms, I would be OK requesting "full balcony/close to elevators"? (I know there's no guarantee of getting either request). That would be put me in one of about, what looks like to me, about 5 full balcony rooms, I think, that are near the lounge and situated over the front entrance. Do you think that's a reasonable request to make?

I'm taking my mom on a mother/daughter trip for her 70th birthday so I'd like to be near the elevators and lounge for convenience but would also like a view that's not horrible.

Almost all of those rooms have a full balcony. The one right next to the lounge is super large but does not have a full balcony. Any of those that face the front are okay if you don't mind looking out at a roof during the day. But how much are you really in the room during the day?????? I think if you request (near lounge, full balcony), you should be okay.

Thanks, that's what I'll do. :thumbsup2 And, you're right, we really wouldn't be spending time in the room during the day. The most we might do is have a cup of tea on the balcony in the morning and maybe sit out for a few minutes at night or, as you said, just open the drapes and see if we can see some of the MK fireworks.

I'm looking into ordering a gift basket from an outside company, who will deliver to the resort. Once it is dropped off, can someone (bell services? front desk?) deliver it to our room once we are checked in, say while we are at dinner? Or do I have to pick it up and set it up myself? (That would kind of ruin the surprise). Would it be the same if I ordered through the Disney Florist? We are staying at the villas, if that makes a difference.

Here was the view we had from room 5670 in July 2010. It was a SV CL room at the beach club. Location was good, about 7-8 doors away from the lounge/elevators. I sat out on the balcony every morning from around 5am to 6 am. I was not bothered by parking lot noise at that time.

To the left- at night we had an excellent view of the MK fireworks. Between the buildings and the peak of the tall tree. I watched them every night. I'm not sure how many of the rooms along that hallway (SV) would be able to view the MK fireworks.

Our center view was obscured by a giant tree. We would have looked out onto the BC front entrance parking lot. (I'm sure that's what the rooms around us saw)

To the right- view of BCV. At night, we could see the high Illuminations fireworks.

Last year we were on the 5th floor (#5714) overlooking the bus stop, but you only knew it was there if you were on the balcony and could faintly hear the sound of the buses arriving/leaving.... Besides the rooftop, there are lots of trees that block the parking lot. When we looked to the right, this was our view (mind you, this is with some zoom on my camera..... @ sunrise :) )

I hope that they are now giving 2012 BB offers earlier! We've never gotten a BB in August stays for the following year. Maybe they are changing things up. I'll have to watch for BB during our Aug stay, cause we're booked for Jan 2012 as well!

Well guys, it looks like we are heading back to the World for our first ever Christmas In Disney trip!!!

Unfortunatly, unless a great discount comes up, we will be staying at CSR for this trip :headache: We've never stayed there, so I'm not sure what to expect.

First off - congratulations. Staying anywhere at Disney is better than not going.

As a family we have only gone to the Deluxe resorts, but I stayed at CSR for a conference last year and loved it! I'd be happy if I were to be back there someday.

Likes - the property is beautiful. I loved walking around the lake and having a drink outside in the evenings. I also loved the pool area - big and beautiful.

Dislikes - only transportation is by bus. We much prefer a resort that has boat and walking options for at least one park. I also didn't like the food at CSR. I found the marketplace to be mediocre at best. (Although the catering for our conference was sooo good.)

The rooms were a bit smaller and the door opened to the outside so I found the view didn't matter because I mostly kept the curtains closed since everyone walking by could see right into the room.

As long as we can afford it I'd book a deluxe resort for our family, but if price was an issue I would be quite happy to go back to CSR.

Has anyone ordered a custom cake from the BC/YC private dining? How was it? Would you do it again? Any pictures? I am thinking of it as a surprise for our dinner at Cape May though have no ideas for them or if they are any good! I checked out the cake chatter thread but most reviews are from GF or CR.

One of our guests came by and gave me a slice that was left over from a customer cake she had made up and it was delivered to them at Cape May. It was chocolate and unbelievably wonderful!!!!! I can taste it just thinking about it. Gonna have to go grab a chocolate junior tastycake from the freezer now!

As far as seeing the fireworks.

If you are at SAB you can see the tippy top of the HIGHEST illuminations fireworks if you are near the Windmill/Kiddie shallow sand area of the pool and look toward Epcot.

You can see the upper half of the Magic Kingdom fire works from Epcot if you look towards Spaceship Earth from the American Pavilion. The FW's will be to the left of the "Ball" from that view.

I have no clue about the Fantasmic fire works. We were collapsed from heat exhaustion and passed out on the ground somewhere around the hotel when they went off.

You could see the fireworks from the Animal Kingdom, but only in your dreams, because they hardly ever have them. (Scares the critters)

You could hear the fire works in your own room, and the surrounding rooms, when some one would take their turn with a heat induced, crabby melt down.

Over all I'd have to say that Disney has really cut back on the fireworks, especially in Illuminations. The decrease with them was really noticeable. We only got through half of Fantasmic due to the lightning so I can't really judge where the bean counters cut that show. As for MK Fireworks I was wondering if the new Castle Light show was going to negatively impact the fireworks but they kept the fireworks separate from the Castle show so all was well there.

The Illuminations show needs a whole lot less 'cum bye yah' and much more Bang, bang, bang if you ask me.

That concludes your fireworks report. Now over to Disneymomx7 for an update on her packing list and pre-trip 'oh-my-gosh-how-can-I-get-all-this-done-in-time-report'! ;)

We got one for my daughters birthday at the Yachtsmen Steakhouse. It was white cake with a white chocolate mousse, buttercream frosting under fondant...with a white chocolate minnie on top! Cake was delicious, but WAY too much for only 3 of us. We took it back to the room and snacked on it all week! Slightly expensive (but what isnt at Disney!) but worth it!
