I love this thread. I have the beach club booked for our one and only night in florida after our first disney cruise. It will also be our first onsite resort experience. We have family nearby and have always just stayed with them (not an option this trip though). Anyway ... We are getting off the cruise and planning to head right to bc for stormalong bay! I chose this resort because of our thre kiddos who will be 10, 8 and 5. It also looks lovely to me.

But, i am worrying myself crazy about the bus transportation to and from for the Halloween party. i am wondering now if I should have booked a monorail resort or maybe the Contemporary for the walkway to MK. I could save the Beach club as my something to look forward tp for next time when we do Epcot and hollywood studios. Sigh.

The morning after the party, i have us booked for a Cape May character breakfast. And, we'd relax by the pool a bit. Then, before heading home, we'd get the kitchen sink! Seems like a sweet plan, right?

Also...I am one step closer to just needing radiation & not chemo...surgery is tomorrow so I will not be on line for the next few days. I am hoping that I can get onto my iPad at the hospital

Sending lots of good thoughts and prayers.

Robyn - I'm sorry about your mother. I'm sending thoughts and prayers to your family too.

As a devoted monorail resort lover, you are worrying for nothing. :goodvibes
We did MNSSHP and MVMCP from BWI last November and I wasn't put off by the buses at all.

Yes, you can walk to the MK from the CR, but it still takes around 10 minutes. We left both parties after midnight and were back to BWI within 30 minutes.

Trust me, SAB is much better than the CR pool and is worth that extra 20 minutes of travel time! :thumbsup2

ETA: Marlton Mom, you crack me up!!!!!!!!! I will be the lady in the pool whistfully looking at your thicker, gourmet noodles but will be rocking an awesome new pair of shoes each day with the room I saved in my suitcase! lol

So MM, I was just looking at your ticker & it looks like our trips overlap a bit..... so if you were looking for someone to bestow your luxury pool noodles on when you leave..... Oh that's right, w/ the Spa Closet you're never leaving.... darn!:goodvibes

Hi Dee,

I hesitate to post this, because it's purely anecdotal, but we arrived at 10pm one night last summer and asked if we could be seated (just for ice cream, but we preferred to sit inside.) The CM was very nice, but said that they were no longer seating after 10pm - just the walk-up counter for ice cream and shakes. They were definitely open until 11pm and diners were still seated at their tables until then - just not seating new guests after 10pm that night. Again, purely anecdotal, so disregard if that's not the norm.

I don't have any experience with the Halloween Party (although our boys sure wish we did!) But we've stayed at BC many times and that's where we'll be the night we return from our first-ever Dream cruise in August. SAB can't be beat - so we thought it would be a perfect spot for a day of swimming. We also have a Cape May breakfast ADR and plan to have lunch at Beaches and Cream before ME takes us to the airport!

I entirely understand your thoughts regarding the monorail and easy transportation to MK. We just stayed at the Poly for our pre-schooler's birthday in January because we were doing extra MK time. But if we want pool time - BC is always a great choice!

(and thanks for the link Dee. :) It's not that I don't trust the DIS restaurant page, but I definitely trust the folks on this thread more ;))

OK fellow BC lovers the BC Construction thread has me really worried. We check-in over Memorial Day weekend and I really don't want to hear construction all day or not be able to use my balcony due to paint fumes, sanding, noise :sad2:. I have been looking forward to this vacation for far too long for this setback. How bad is it? How much of the resort is under construction (we have a standard-CL room)? and the worst most dreadful question....should I change resorts? :scared1:

Now I'm freaking out. :sad1:Don't get me wrong, we go to Disney every year and I'm used to small setbacks but this sounds extreme when the vacation was supposed to be relaxing and a relief to be away from stress at home.

ETA: I see others posting about the construction and being worried too but no answers. Is there a recommendation for a number I can call to ask questions about this? I think calling the reservation number won't do since they won't actually be at the resort.

Also, thanks so much to everyone for the AKL info! I'm unfamiliar with this "quiet" that many of you speak of - but I'll definitely listen for it AFTER kiddie bedtime! Just upgraded to the pool view after realizing that standard vs. pool at AKL is the equivalent of standard v. garden at BC - just $8 more per night! Savannah view wasn't a good fit - I'm not an animal fan and I love to be near water (makes sense that BC is my favorite resort!) so staying among animals with a pool view sounds like a good compromise for our family. :)

I definitely have noodle-envy.:yoda: (yeah, that's me green with envy after a week sitting around SAB without any sunscreen).

I took noodles down last year for the first time and brought along 4 -- made sense we are a family of 4. Unfortunately, I was not a pool noodle connoisseur such as yourself and quickly learned 1 wimpy noodle will not float an adult man. DH would need to double up to stay up!

So this year, it will only be luxurious Tar-jay brand for us.

And while they were the wimpy kind, we were still able to pass them along to another family of 4 who had recently arrived at YC and were sitting next to us at SAB ... so I at least I felt we got our money's worth.

OK fellow BC lovers the BC Construction thread has me really worried......

I plan on fending the construction workers off with my mighty pool noodles! That should keep things quiet around Marlton Mom's side of the resort. Nothing puts the fear of God in a construction worker like a lavender colored voluptuous pool noodle coming his or her way! In fact I may even have a t-shirt printed up that says "Keep it quiet or you get the NOODLE!"

That should fix 'em!

Okay ... here is what I know ...

Last year, they were working on the BC Villas when we were there. They were going the same type of work ... painting the siding & trim.

Around the perimeter of the Villas (back by the quiet pool) were cherry pickers -- maybe 5 or 6. They were parked on the grounds, and while some moved out to the parking lot at night, others did not. Those cherry pickers would have large, green boards around the bases so they blocked access to the machinery and improved the view.

We had a cherry picker that did not move ... right outside our first floor room. I will admit I was not pleased with the view, but I can tell you there was never an issue with noise or too much of a disruption with the workers.

We go to the parks just before opening, stay through lunch, return to go swimming, clean up and head back to the parks for dinner. We usually left before they got started, were gone at the pool when they were there and they were packing up by the time we were back getting ready to leave again.

Even on the day we didn't hit the parks and just stayed at the resort, it wasn't an issue. Getting up early every other day doesn't really allow us to sleep too late on the off day ... but we did sleep later and we're disturbed.

I didn't hang out on the patio at all when they were there, and I didn't want to go hang at the quiet pool while they were there either ... but that was just my decision. Besides the kids love SAB and that is where they want to be.

Of course, after 3 summers at the Villas and the work being done there last July, we are staying at the actual resort ... where the work is being done this year! But I have no worries.

I wouldn't count on getting any correct information from anyone you could talk to at the resort, other than a manager who might have a more detailed work schedule. The front desk didn't even have it correct -- they thought all the machinery would be moved out each night, thought it would be completed during our stay.

The BC is an amazing resort ... you will find so much to do at the parks, SAB, on the beach, at the restaurants, along the Boardwalk, and more ... that you shouldn't have any problems with the work being done.

IF it did become an issue for you, I would just ask to speak to one of the managers on duty. They have always been willing to listen and will try to meet your needs.

Also...I am one step closer to just needing radiation & not chemo...surgery is tomorrow so I will not be on line for the next few days. hospital

You'll be in my prayers.

I've had radiation-- the fear is so much worse than the reality!!! I had 30 sessions, and the worst of it was the exhaustion. (That, and teaching -- in a coed high school--braless for a week.)

Hang in there and let us know how it goes.
