Any news on the key lime pie from Capt's Grill?
Hey everbody! I've missed you all so much! I was only able to sneak peeks on the boards a couple of times via my iphone and that's not nearly as easy as laptop/ ipad!
We had a fantastic trip. Checked in on the 20th and out on the 25th. Then we stayed club level at the Royal Pacific Resort until yesterday. LOVED the Beach Club, LOVED Teena, LOVED SAB, LOVED it all.
The rooms were spacious, clean and quiet. We like to sleep with it nice and cold (guests at our house freeze) and our BC room did NOT disappoint! LOVED the blackout drapes and the fact that there were no cracks of light to worry about. I woke up each morning in a panic bc the room was so dark, I was sure that for the first time since my partying college days, I might have slept past 9am!!!!
Club level lounge---our favorites here were the Oreo bon bons and raspberry cheesecake, yuengling (beer), spinach & cheese stuffed phyllo pastries, pot stickers, black diamond cheddar (my fave at home too), kettle chips and red pepper dressing (I totally thought this was going to be over-rated, but it's NOT. So stinkin' good!).
Cape May Cafe scored two dinner visits from my family. Yes, it was THAT good. Lobster pasta salad, clam chowder, insane macaroni & cheese, crab legs, some type of beef carving station, ribs, chicken. Plenty of variety.
We also ate at Teppan Edo, 1900 Park Fare (breakfast), and O'hana. All of our meals were wonderful.
We stopped in at Captain's Grille and asked about the Key Lime pie. It's definitely not on the menu anymore. Sorry!!!! I don't know if you've ever tried the individual pies in the club lounge or Cape May Cafe, but my daughter loved those! Maybe it's the same recipe, but a smaller version?
It was so great to meet Teena. She's the biggest sweetheart ever and has the perfect job for her personality! Be careful though----she's a NOODLE NINJA and she and her fellow NOODLE NINJAS (they call themselves CMs), jumped me in the BC lobby. I even have a picture to prove it! I'll post it tomorrow. (I know the suspense will surely be killing you all!)
The boats to HS/ Epcot are air conditioned, but w/ the stifling Florida heat it's not what you'd expect. For the first few days, I didn't even step inside the boat for fear I would melt into a puddle on the floor. We scored a seat outside or simply stood out back. One day the boat was a little full and the kids begged to go inside. It was NOT bad. The capt. has a window open in the front which creates a breeze through the boat, as the back doorway is also open. The Bourques were fine with this. I even took a pic of the air conditioner while we were on the boat. Anyone who dared look at me funny was quickly told that I was on a "mission".
You all saw my pics of the construction noodle duel. I will say it again for all of you who are worried----any and all construction is for the good of the resort and should not in any way hamper your vacation. I had to go looking for the workers and equipment on another of my "missions", so that says a lot. My sister in law and her family of 4 are there now and she hasn't had any issue either. Don't worry. Really.
I'll tackle a full trip report early next week. Until then, please let me know if I can answer any questions.
Cheers to all!
