I have a question for anyone that has walked/jogged the course of the half marathon.. I am in the middle of training for this half marathon and I was wondering if there is any hills or steep climbs that I have to prepare for.. the place where I am doing my walking/jogging at has a pretty steep climb that is killing me right now... is the course for the marathon flat terrain or does it have some hills.. I just need to know this way I have an idea on what i need to concentrate on

As I recall, it was pretty flat but had some incline as you went up the on ramp. I don't remember it being much of a challenge. Frankly, the weather was MUCH more of a factor than the terrain. Good luck - it was absolutely the best run of my life!

The only real hills are under the water bridge before you come into the Magic Kingdom, then the on-ramp and an overpass coming into Epcot. Relative to the rest of the course, you'll notice them just a bit, but really, the course as a whole is as pancake flat as they come.

I wouldn't even do much specific in your training to worry about them.

Even though it's a basically flat course, I'd strongly recommend doing some training this summer and fall on hills. Hill work builds strong and powerful legs, something you need in a half marathon no matter what the course is like. The extra strength and endurance you get from hill training really comes in handy at the end of a race when you're getting tired. I'd also recommend speed work on a track to help you run faster and more efficiently.

Let's see if this works:
