Ooh, I have some!

The best book I literally read on the beach was Kate Morton's The Forgotten Garden. Her others - The House at Riverton and The Distant Hours, are great, too - as is Sarah Waters' The Little Stranger. All either family sagas and/or Gothic suspense.

Sue Monk Kidd's book The Mermaid Chair is great to read at the beach - it's set in the Low Country area.

I've read all Sue Monk Kidd's books, even the self-help ones. I love her Secret Life of Bees best! I was just considering The Forgotten Garden. I just got a Kindle for Mother's Day and I want to get some good reads on it.

The Secret life of Bees is one of my top five current favorite books. The others are Water for Elephants, The Thirteenth Tale, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, and Cutting for Stone.

The Sister by Poppy Adams is another favorite. It's creepy and Gothic but with a twist - I loved it.

LOVED Emma Donoghue's book Room - I am reviewing it for my book club tomorrow night. It will be interesting to hear what others thought of it.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, The Tower, The Zoo and the Tortoise and Major Pettigrew's Last Stand are three I've enjoyed recently.

I LOVED The Guernsey Literary....Society!!! I'll take a look at the others too. I've been reading biography and classics with my son. Time for a beach book break!

I'm going to read the Girl w/the Dragon Tattoo Trilogy (which I got for Christmas), George Bush's book that DH got for Christmas and Water for Elephants.

Just finished Something Borrowed and Something Blue by Emily Giffin- fun light reading...

Have Steven Tyler's biography on hold at the library

I'm gonna read Chelsea Handler's new book Lies I told (or something to that affect)...she is so funny.

I just started that. It was a mother's day gift. It's a bit of a tough read--the writing style.

I was wondering about Steven Tyler's book. Did he have a ghost writer? If not, his book might be a bit scattered.

"Bossypants" by Tina Fey

"Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me"

"Sisterhood Everlasting" by Ann Brashares (comes out next month)

He did have a writer working with him and he's clearly listed on the cover. However, it VERY much sounds like it's coming straight out of his mouth and in his thought process. I had to laugh because the sub-title of the book is "Is the noise in my head bothering you yet?" Yes, Steven, it is!:rotfl:

I think we have the same taste in books as I've read several of these and really liked them - Water for Elephants, Thirteenth Tale, Room, The Guernsey.., and I haven't read it yet, but have Major Pettigrew's Last Stand. I'm putting your others on my list!

I also really liked The Help.

:rotfl: I should probably try to read it. In a past life, I loved men who loved chaos. Plus I'm sympathetic to ADD and ADHD types; he seems to be somewhere in that camp. Gotta love him!

He's FIRMLY in that camp!

Hi! Just trolling for more book ideas. Not too many readers subscribing this year. Hellooooo! ;)

I really liked Bossypants. I couldn't get through The Help - I tried twice and stopped about halfway through. Maybe I'll give it another try at the beach this year.

A little intense for the beach, but Emma Donoghue's book Room is excellent. It's especially timely in light of the Jaycee Dugard case recently in the headlines.

My book club also read and enjoyed Sarah's Key recently. We are reading the new Cleopatra: A Life book next month. It looks great. We read Jonathan Franzen's Freedom last month.

I am reading Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. We don't have HBO and I heard good things about the mini-series. I usually like the books better than the movies anyway. :rotfl:

I'm getting the Steven Tyler book.

Just read both of Nikki Sixx's of Motley Crue. Heroin Diaries and This is Gonna hurt.2 of the best books I have ever read. It took me a day on each of htem to r ead.
