2011 Planning - join me!

Joining the group. Will be going mid March. Probably like March 11th - 19th. Just spent alot of time learning about the Disney Y.E.S. program on another thread. This looks interesting and am hoping to get a group of at least 10 kids to do this.

Still debating on the hotel. That is always the biggest dilemma. Last 2 times we stayed at AKV and BWV (rented points). Before that it was always at the value resorts. So, my top hotels are AKV or BWV (we all liked them both) or BLT or CSR. Right now I can to the DVC resorts cheaper than CSR unless a code comes out but that might not be til later in the year and I need to book DVC in August at the 7th month mark. So many decisions. (good thing I have plenty of time) Lynn

Please count us in, late June 2011 thru early July 2011 :cool1:

:goodvibesWe have to finalize our dates once 2010 - 2011 school schedules are out. :goodvibes

Also we most likely stay at POFQ b/c of the size and 1st bus stop, plus the boat to DTD. Our DS will be 19 - and we have to pay the extra room fee per night, and at a moderate it will be $15 per night.

:woohoo:Our DD will be 16 - so we can finally do the Keys to the Kingdom tour as a family in MK. :woohoo:

You can count me in for this group. My mom and I will more than likely be going the first week of January, just after the NYE crowds head home (we hope). I've already started saving, and I can't wait for discount packages for 2011 to be announced. I'm hoping they repeat the discount deals they gave to U.S. veterans and their families, as the two of us would qualify for them.

Like Lynnth, we are still trying to decide on the hotel. Originally, we were thinking it would be best to save our pennies and stay at one of the All-Stars, or the Pop. Unfortunately, I saw an ad for the AK villas/Lodge, and the idea of staying there is seducing me. I have heard it's possible to get value rooms there, but I don't know how much that would cost. Can anyone give me a specific price?
(We'll probably go for the all star, but just in case...)

Also, anyone know when the 2011 planning DVD will be available?

I'm already on the list for March 2011 however we've had a change of heart and have decided to go back for Thanksgiving 2011:woohoo:. Our new dates will be Nov 24 thru Dec 4. It's further away but.... we will be staying 10 days instead of just 7:thumbsup2

Note to self: Don't wait several weeks to update list! Wow - lots of additions. Let me know if something is wrong or needs updated!

I am kind of bummed right now. I have been planning our Sept 2011 trip based on previous MNSSHP dates (2009). We moved our trip to include Labor Day weekend so we could take advantage of an extra day with out using vacation. My DH gets a lot less vacation time then I do so in order to do a longer trip that is what we will have to do. Now when 2010 calendar first came out all the dates for MNSSHP matched up to 2009 but now if you have been readng all the threads they have now changed and dropped off party dates at the first of September. We love MNSSHP and really want to do it again.

So now if I used 2010 dates to help plan our trip for next year if I want to go to a MNSSHP then we will have to move our trip a couple weeks later which means a shorter trip. Or do I stick with the longer trip and give up MNSSHP. :scared1: I don't know what to do now. I really like doing each park two days. If we moved it we could do all parks except for one two days.

Thanks for letting me vent a little!

Hi! I'm starting to plan our 2011 trip. We had a great time at WDW during Thanksgiving week 2009. While we were still there, we decided that we would return in a couple of years. Our daughter will be 9 in 2011, so still a child in Disney terms. This time, I would prefer a late spring or late summer trip. Our daughter loves water parks, and we didn't do them last time. Her birthday is around Labor Day weekend, so we might go then.

Frustrating!! I've never been to a party, so I can't really comment on that. To me, I'd prefer the longer trip. Though if it's just 1 day shorter and you get the extra park time with the party....does it kind of balance out? To me, DHS or AK could easily be done in 1 day, but that's us, we don't even spend a full day at either of those.

I feel like it's really official now.....We've been added to the list on the first page of this thread!!:thumbsup2 Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My DH is one that doesn't like discussing the trip until a few months before but I need to decide on this by August when we book. If I go with the longer trip we can do each park twice which is what we like. If I go with the shorter trip we would probably cut AK to one day and do the rest two days but we would get to do MNSSHP. Each trip we would fly down on a Sunday and get there early afternoon so we could do 1/2 day somewhere. Probably at MK since they normally have evening extra magic hours. We would then either fly back on the next Monday for the short trip or Tuesday for the longer trip (using Labor Day as our extra day).

Anyway you could start your trip on a Saturday so you'd get the extra day without missing work AND could attend MNSSHP?

No, that won't work. My husband has to count Saturdays as vacation days (he works 6 days a week). I think we have decided for the longer trip instead of MNSSHP. Who knows with Disney maybe next year they will go back to the earlier parties and it will work out.

Ah, bummer!! And who knows, maybe they will!!

Sooooo excited....... Looks like we will be heading to the world in April 2011. Not sure of exact dates yet but wanted to share in my excitement. We will be staying at the BWI or Contemporary or I will change my mind a million times before we get to WDW!

Glad to see others are just as fanatical about planning as me! We took our first trip last year and had the most amazing family vacation we have ever taken!

We have a son (16) that is disabled and can't participate in a lot of things we do on vacation so my husband or I end up sitting out on certain activities to stay with him. NOT so at Disney! He could participate in everything and noone felt left out!

That said, we have decided we have to go back as much as possible! :yay:

So, we are heading back down in the fall of '11. We are trying to decide whether to go in late September or early December. Kinda want to go for all the Christmas decorations, but with a family of 5, free dining sure was nice!!

We'll be heading down for Nov 2011... probably the second full week so that we miss Jersey week- hoping it will be slow there between Jersey Week and Tgiving... :rotfl:

Can't wait to see my ticker get rid of that "1 year" part!

Thanks for adding me to the list.

I haven't done too much planning yet but have started looking into resorts a little more. I'd love to stay WL but it all depends on if there are any discounts to convince my DH that it's worth the added cost.

Count us in! We're heading down "home" again in April 2011, after a much too long hiatus. I'm already "too excited to sleep!"

Planning for April 7th-17th staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

We're in! Just bought a new house and will be using our tax rebate for a trip in 2011!!!! Can't wait. I will have 1DD in college, 1 DD a junior in high school, and 1 DS in kindergarten so I am not sure when would be the best time to go. I am not totally opposed to taking them out of school as I would be prefer not to go during a school vacation. Did that once and the crowds were outrageous. Sept and Oct are pretty much out as DD plays a high school sport and can't miss a week of school. DH works for a large company that doesn't allow vacations in Nov and Dec as their business dramatically increases around the holidays. Hoping for lowest crowds possible! Any ideas/suggestions? I am so excited to plan even if it is over a year out!
