Hi all,

We are having a bit of a headache trying to book for next year! Our dd starts school this September, so this is our first time trying to book in the school holidays....we have been looking at end of May beginning of June time and it is so expensive! On disney site we got a quote for PO riverside, ddp, 14day ultimate tickets, flights etc for just over £4000! Is it me or does that seem a lot? we paid 3 and a half last year plus we got the free gift card....does anyone know of any good deals? we are just so restricted!!!

We seem to have got the best quote with first choice (£3025); car hire free, but you have to pay extra for transfers (not hired before)...not sure what to do, so turning to any experienced disser's for advice!

Have you tried looking at Easter time or the October break? The summer flight prices are ridiculous this year.

Take your daughter out of school the week before the half term. We have teaken my daughter out three times, no problems at all, the school give my daughter a project to do whilst there.

My son starts next September, but I have no worries about taking him out before half term, a lot of families do it.

I totally agree Kevin! If a child is attending school and working consistently through the year, one week out is not going to be detrimental. In fact, quite the opposite. How nice that your DD's teacher gave a project! I certainly don't expect that, but wow, that is great! I have created a World Showcase project for my DD for this year and one for the AK (still busy working on this one) but the staff are great and really take an interest in any new information that comes in. Other children get to learn something while DD is sharing her findings too. I think it is a wonderful opportunity and I don't have an issue with it. Save for a week off for Disney once a year, if that, she has a perfect attendance record.

kids are allowed 10 days off school-although its at schools discretion....
may/june time is when most tour groups are there i think... october is very nice, still hot but not crowded and not as humid either

We've gone with October as DD has 2 weeks off for halfterm. From my extensive research it seems best/cheapest school holiday time - we'll see how we like it!

Tagging a week on May holiday is an option but it's gaydays/star wars weekend plus memorial day and US schools off which result in higher crowds than Oct.

I've discounted easter and xmas as too busy for us.

August - pro's are reasonale accomodation prices but flights prices were astronomical this year and the heat.

If circumstances were different I may well consider term time but DD has a disability which means alot of hospital apts and will miss school for that so I can't have her missing any more. Also I've got to try and cover 14 weeks school hols with 4 weeks annual leave

Oh ..... welcome to the club! It will change your life! Otherwise, you could end up working overtime for the other 48 weeks of the year to fund holiday childcare

She only went 2 days a week but it was there if I needed it.

I'm currently in denial as i'm going back to working 5 days a week in Sept (albeit school hours) I last worked 5 days in 2005!

I was also spoilt with a 50 weeks a year nursery for DD. School holidays presented a whole new challenge. DD just started a new after school care this week and I am so glad that she is loving it. I do feel bad sometimes when I get home and she is knackered, wants to go out and play and I am rushing around getting dinner, supervising homework, running her bath ..... and then it's 8 pm and she hasn't spent any time with me yet. I suppose something has to give. It is one of the reasons our Disney trips are so special.

I just priced up a split stay on the US site for next year. Better without the free dining and with the discount. One week at POP and one week at Poly (what a combination ) nominally more than my trip for October this year. That's for Feb though and not a good time as there are no proper school hols then, but it is DD's birthday and it would be nice ..... and Poly is my dream resort which suddenly looks reachable.
