I found online that there are free dining plans for the UK being offered for 2011. Is this typical for this to be offered in the UK before being offered in the US or are their offers not an indicator at all of what will be offered here?

It happens every year. They offer it to the UK guests and everyone starts to speculate on what will be offered to us. From what I remember they only offered them the QSDP option for this year free no matter which resort they booked. We have a choice dependent on the level of hotel we book. Of course anyone can pay to upgrade to the more expensive options.

We actually booked our May 2011 trip via the uk website, and since we're doing a deluxe stay, we got free DDP (the QSDDP was offered for the value resorts, but for the deluxe it was the actual DDP). (we will likely be upgrading to the Deluxe DDP because we didn't like the CS on our previous trip)Contacted my US travel agent to ask her if she could match the offer for me, but she told me for the US, promotions are only released later and sometimes more gradually. Will keep my fingers crossed for you guys though !!!

Heres what the website says "Why not stay between 1 Jan – 17 Feb 2011, 1 May – 2 Jun 2011 or 1 Aug – 18 Nov 2011 and dine for FREE*"

Do the UK free dining dates usually reflect what will be offered stateside? We currently have a package booked in January and would LOVE :lovestruc to get free dining!! Or is it normal for Disney to offer the its' UK customers free dining times different that the US??

The UK dining offers are different to the US and don't fall over all the same dates. This is the first time Jan/Feb and May FD has been offered in the UK and it could have a lot to do with the economy, exchange rate and flight prices - all of which have made travel to the US no longer an option for many people. You may find that the earlier FD dates will be reflected in the US by offers via pin code, but not likely that it will be public FD in my opinion.

The Touring Plans blo6g posted a rumour that Free Dining would be offered for much of next year (with blackouts around Spring Break and Summer). They post said that it would be announced on Monday (16 Aug).

Check out the thread on the rates/codes sub-forum of the resorts bord.

Can you tell me where this thread is I can't find it?? Thanks!;)

Worth bearing in mind that historically although we get same sort of dates on free dining as you do in the USA we don't usually get such a good deal. (E.G. this year staying at moderate resorts and booking in UK we got free QSDP - the same offer in USA was free DDP. Also we are not able to upgrade QSDP to DXDP but have to pay OOP in full for DXDP if that is what we want to take.)

As for the reason we know before you is because for hotspot times of school holidays with the transatlantic flights we have to book 18 months in advance to get our choice of flight dates. presumably the announcement of free dining to UK customers gets people going to WDW rather than I-drive or Universal. :)
