**2011** Epcot Food & Wine Festival HAS ENDED. 2012 Festival 9/28 - 11/11

Has anyone ever seen someone using a scooter at PFTS? I"m trying to remember, but I don't recall seeing any. Someone who can't stand for the whole party would have no choice but to book the wine view option if scooters aren't allowed.

I have seen scooters at PFTS!

That said it did not seem to be an easy area to navigate, low lighting and LOTS of people, but I think with patience you will be fine!

I have not been to PFTS, but I have been to several Taste! events (same concept at CA F&W). Because I can't stand for the whole party and my partner can't even walk far enough to get into the parks, we built some little tables that we attached to the front of our scooters. They were built with simple materials from Home Depot and we attached them with zip ties in the room before heading to the event. It made turning a small challenge but we always had a table and place to sit. If they had a PFTS the weekend I would be at F&W we were planning on doing the WVL because I can't stand that entire time and it might be difficult packing two of the tables in our luggage. We plan on booking the Sweet Seats for the 3D Dessert party though.

At the Taste event there were times when it was difficult to navigate through the crowds, and if one chef was taking a long time to serve up the dishes and gathered a long line, it was difficult navigating through that, but otherwise it worked out great. We did it for a couple years and people remembered us and remarked about the ingenuity, but you do what you have to do!

Fife and Drum
  • Frozen Red Stag Lemonade by Jim Beam - Wasn't this served last year? If so did anyone try it?

My other half assures me that I had this last year and loved it but for the life of me I don't remember it. However that probably means it was good as the only thing I really remember from last years Food and Wine was the horrible Purple Haze beer!

They had this last year but it was over ice. It says frozen so I am hoping it's more of a slushie like the Grey Goose France land!

I like PFTS and have gone several times over the years. I haven't ever done the WVL option. It is pricey, and I like to wander here and there, and set my food down at one of the stand up tables and maybe chat a little with others at the stand up tables, and then move on.

Before the WVL, people used to commandeer the regular tables and (gasp!) even the stand up tables. Now that they have the WVL, does that mean that people cannot commandeer the regular tables and the stand up tables, and the people like myself, the wanderers, have a better chance at finding a temporary place to nosh?

Disney does a lousy job of explaining the set up. Party goers can be RUDER then RUDE. Bad combo

I didn't go last year. The year prior I had no issues sharing tables etc... the year before that I hit the RUDE party. Literally if you were not there at opening and staked out a table you did not get NEAR one. A lot of people complained to the staff. Even they admitted they had never seen anything like this party. (Treatment of the folks picking up dirty plates was also RUDE!)

As a solo traveler I am seriously thinking of paying extra just to avoid the risk of RUDE!

I remember the rude year, too. It was it was during the year of a million dreams, where Disney gave away a LOT of "comp" tickets to this event, making it over-crowded compared to normal years when people bought tickets.

I felt that was the only year I've attended Party for the Senses that became overly tense and heated tempers.

:scared1: I love purple haze!!!

I'm excited to try the Jim Bean lemonade, sounds refreshing a nice change of pace from wine.

They were not frozen last year, just red stag lemonade and they were really good!

Awesome. I'm going to try it.

The Signature Dinner at Flying Fish, November 3 will feature the wines of Moet & Chandon.

I've heard the Signature Dinner at Victoria & Albert's on Oct. 23 will be focusing on white truffles from Alba

Awesome. I'm going to try it.

We've been drinking Jim Beam Red Stag and lemonade all summer. Very good on a hot summer day! We fill a tall glass with ice, about 1 1/2 oz of Red Stag and then fill the glass with lemonade. Very refreshing!

The Red Stag Lemonade was really good. A very refreshing option on a hot day of noshing around the world.

To be fair, from what I remember (and no this isn't from too much drink it was from having a very rushed EPCOT day) I had the purple haze after a sip of sake and I'm not 100% sure if the taste combination just made it gross!

Scooters are allowed. My DH uses a power WC. World Showplace is very large & the tables are spread out. We have attended PFTS twice, it was difficult as he isn't able to carry his food or drinks himself. So he stayed at a table while I did lots of running. If you are able to balance the driving & holding your items, you will be fine & have a good time.

That's an idea my DH has considered for his WC. Navigating the crowds has caused him to reconsider it. I would think that in a crowded event, other guests would not be very considerate with your difficulty navigating between the tables & guests carrying food, wine glasses.

He did have a wine glass holder made for his chair!

We had planned to do PFTS with the WVL this year. That was before the upcharge cost was released this year. For us, a sit down dining event is just much easier & enjoyable!

BTW, In the past, The Food & Wine Pairing in Morocco has been held in a raised section of Restaurant Marrakesh. There are several steep steps up to the dining area. No ramp was available.

Thanks for the info! I don't know yet if I"ll be able to walk/stand for the event or not as I"ll be getting more shots for my knees right before the trip in October. I"m hoping that I won't be using a scooter at all. But because I know there is an option that I can if needed, I may skip the wine view seating and just buy regular tickets for us. We've done wine view the last two years but the cost is really pretty high.

Thanks!

I think if I do need the scooter, I may be able to "park" it out of the way and walk to get food. I can usually walk for awhile but just not stand for hours. The scooter would guarantee I had a place to sit if I couldn't stand any longer. That's what I'm most worried about. I just don't have the ability to do this as a cocktail party and stand for 3 hours. I need a chair of some kind.

That is one of our favorites! It is SO rich that the serving size is just right. It is one of the few items where DH and I each get our own serving because we love it so much. I'll have that choc cake probably 4 or 5 times during our trip.[/QUOT

I'm with you. One visit to the Irish booth I get the Fisherman's Pie and the next time I go by I get the chocolate cake. Yummy.
