To Robyn and Amanda and the other people who are adept at losing loved ones, can you fill the rest of us in on your secrets? Some of us have been trying to ditch cranky family members in the parks with out much success!

In my case it's usually my husband. I was thinking that the best place to ditch him was at the obligatory trip to Walmart to purchase his missing bathing suit or underwear that he forgot to pack for vacation. Unfortunately, security at Walmart is top notch and when the wife tries to sneak out, the alarms go off and a customer service rep reunites the bewildered husband with his family.

I've also tried the ladies room trick where you go in and don't come out for an hour. The ladies rooms at Disney are air conditioned and you get to sit down so it makes for a restful respite from all the whining. If you close your eyes you can even imagine that you're at the pool at the Wilderness Lodge with all that rushing water..... But even after an hour I come back out and there he is, none the wiser that I was waiting for him to wander off thinking that I'd left.

The hotel is another surefire place to lose your husband. Frequently I push the wrong button in the elevator and try to fake getting out at the wrong floor in hopes that he will follow and not be able to duck back in when the elevator doors close. My husband is the one at the hotel that everyone is calling security about because he tried to get in the wrong door. If you see a trail of M&M's on the floor leading to a particular door it's probably ours.

So don't hold out on us! Fess up on those ditching the cranky "loved" ones tips!

~MM

I love this! No success at WDW, but at DL last summer we sent him: 1) back to our room at the Grand Californian with our youngest while I stayed until closing with our older boys; and 2) to the GCH lobby bar with his New York Times while I took all three boys to the Lego store. :)

Rebecca that would be fabulous!
We've kept missing each other for years. Last year I thought it was
definitely going to be the year we met up then dd broke her leg.

We booked the room only since we have APs and the TIW card. Last year that really worked out great. If good AP rates come out though I think we're going to do the first week DDP (regular) and the second week TIW.
My in-laws are coming with us for the first week so we booked them the 30% of MYW package. I scheduled most of the buffets for the first week so
that would make the DDP worth it. Disney killed me once the girls became
"Disney adults". They are mostly still eating off the kids menu which is why
TIW works out better for us, except for the buffets!

Hope we can meet up and have a Mini-Dis Meet like we did last year!

TIW card would be perfect for us...alas no APs. Your plan sounds great. Agreed, the Disney adult thing is a killer (tickets & DDP). We have done the DDP for the past couple of years. So, glad I have a few months to decide.

Would be wonderful to meet. This could be the year! Hope to convince the men - even a few days of Disney would be wonderful.

Robyn's trip is July 17 to the end of the month. Hope this is the year you two can meet up!!! Unfortunately, I think chances are pretty good that Teena will be out in Vegas with Jeanne and the new grand-peanut! And I will just be returning from "The Trip Which Must Not Be Named"

This could be the year Robyn and I meet, keeping my fingers crossed. Your trip "not to be named" should be fun - a new experience. Get is out of your system. Disney will be here for you next year! :)

This is exactly what we did in March 2010 - loved it! My husband attended a conference in Clearwater at the Sandpearl Resort so the boys and I tagged along and enjoyed the beach. Then we all drove to WDW, checked in at BC and enjoyed 4 nights/5 days at Disney. Really hope your Clearwater/Disney plan works out! :)

We love Clearwater. Such an easy drive to Disney, right? I was thinking the Hyatt in Clearwater would be a wonderful place to stay for a few days. Love that beach! Thanks, hope my plan works as well.

Heatherbabydoll, as mentioned the resort is lovely and the service is spectacular. The room was musty but I did not see any sign of mold. The must was from the wet carpets. The rooms are not spectacular - we've stayed at Sheraton Vistana villages, Floridays, Marriott grande vista and SSR. All were better than our room at BCV but it was identical to SSR which we loved so I can only sum it up to the smell and tired condition of the room.

I have no idea if they are renovating BCV. I saw no sign of it while I was there. But I've read that there is some going on. I'm sure it will be a wonderful vacation.

Before we check into the Beach Club I need a hotel for 2 nights. I have it narrowed it down to two...

Comfort Inn and Suites at 2775 Florida Plaza Boulevard, Kissimmee. this is located next to Old Town, ( I have no idea what old town is)

and

comfort Inn and Suites Maingate at 7888 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy. Kissimmee.

I am not sure if one is located on the "wrong side of town" or if one is better then the other. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, if there is another hotel that can accommodate 5 that you all know of I would love a recommendation. Thanks in advance.

I have a few questions and I was hoping you all could help...I have been trying to read through this thread all day today.
I am going to WDW with my parents, DSis(age 7) and son (age 9) after our cruise. We will be there 4/21 - 4/23 (two nights). My son and I have AP's but my sis and parents don't. We are all staying together in the same room. Oh by the way - I am 42, just didn't want anyone to think I was a really, really young parent since my sister is 7. Anyway... we were originally booked at Poly CL but then when the GP discount came out on Friday I switched to BC CL with AAA rate on 4/21 and GP discount on 4/22. It saved us over $500 for the two nights! But now I am not so sure about staying CL at BC and I am thinking maybe I should switch to YC or even Boardwalk. I have read a few recent CL reports that have not been kind. We stayed CL at WL last summer and loved it, but with five in a room that isn't going to work. Is there a difference between BC and YC and should I really consider one over the other. If I stay at BWI then we won't have the use of SAB, is there any reason to consider this switch? Is the walk any longer from YC to Epcot versus BC to Epcot (just thinking of my parents)? the YC side looks more spread out - if I reserve a Garden view at YC what kind of room request should I make that would have us closer to the center of the bldg? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I don't know anything about the YC/BC. I have only stayed at WL, Coronado and AKL.
Thank you!!!
Debbie

SpringHill Suites accommodates 5, and I really love them. In fact, that's pretty much what I try to book all the time if possible on our little trips. There is a SpringHill Suites very close by WDW. If you need more specifics, let me know.

Hi Debbie!

We recently stayed in a deluxe CL room at BC and had a very positive experience. Since childhood, I've stayed at Poly, BC, WL and Coronado Springs several times each and Caribbean Beach and Sports once each. Our recent CL stay at BC was our first CL stay at Disney and we enjoyed it so much that we booked BC CL for our next stay.

We only have great things to say about the staff, the atmosphere, the food, etc in the BC club lounge. During our week-long stay, we only experienced crowds in the lounge once (a Saturday evening.) The guests in the lounge - both adults and kids - were having fun but very well-behaved during our stay. I know that can vary at any resort at any time, so we were fortunate to have such a positive experience. The lounge was even more comfortable than we expected and we really enjoyed spending time there during breakfast and before dinner. It may not have the view and the high ceilings that I've seen in other CL lounge photos, but it was really warm and welcoming. At this point, I'm more likely to book CL at BC than any other resort.

BC is a bit closer to Epcot than YC, but how much closer depends on your specific room assignment.

Hope that helps!

I got to meet Teena today!!! She is just as nice in person as she is on here....and very beautiful!! You couldn't even tell that she had just had a major surgery...except for the fact that she welcomed us to the POP!! We are having a great time and my son's broken hand has only slowed down our swimming pool time!

I'm going to try some of the hints that everyone gave for ditching dh... :) In fact my ds and dh just went to BTMR to get fatpasses. I said I'll meet you at Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner and he said where is that? I told him to use his map....we'll see.... :). He's still trying to figure out why Teena said we were at POP.

Thanks Teena. It was room 307. I just checked my forms.

I think the community of support and admiration around this resort is part of it's attraction too. Some of you being original DVC and ambassadors of all things Disney.

Hopefully this room gets the pixie dust treatment so no one else leaves feeling like I did.

It has been passed on to one of my managers!!

There is no scheduled room renovations going on at the BC, YC or BCV. There is outside maintenance going on right now at the BC that will continue for probably the rest of the year.

I am sure I saw this on here but can't find it right now, as we are packing!
Does the BC sell pool noodles and how much are they? Trying to decide oif we should try to pack one!?:confused3 Thank you!

Yes, they sell them but I don't know how much. I'm sure it's probably 5 times the price at the dollar store or Walmart though.

I haven't personally seen them, but I have read in the past that the Poolside Gift Shop sells pool noodles for $4 each. A bit pricey, but you don't have to worry about packing space.

Can anyone confirm this?

Our room outside the World is the CLARION HOTEL MAINGATE :Address
7675 West Irlo Bronson Highway (Near the Comfort) We love it for a first/short night location. Staff is great and room is clean, Anyway it is real close to the backgate/shortcut to Animal Kingdom road .Take Sheroth from Irlo and you are on property. Dont' known If a room can accomodate 5 but it can do 4 at $37 a night it's clean and employee's are nice. Hope this helps

That's funny that she welcomed you to POP, and your husband was not in on it. It made me remember when I first met Teena- I had mentioned her once or twice to my husband, but he pretty much glazed over whenever I would share one of my DIS-comments, so when I arrived at the Beach Club, and started hugging and talking to the woman in the lobby, he had no idea what was going on!

The "Bounce Back Clock" is the clock that calculates how long it will take you to recover from a day of marching around the parks in the hot and humid weather. You have to enter in various factors which will determine how long or short of a period of time you'll need before you'll be ready to hit the parks again.

For instance, if you are traveling with kids you add 1 hour to the clock for each kid. Teenage children are multiplied by a factor of 4.5 and for husbands you just add 12 hours. If you are traveling with family and trying to coordinate everyone's schedule you add 1 hour for every person and 3 hours for crabby in laws.

If the people in your 'party' are not listening to you and you are late for everything add 6 hours, but if you've consumed multiple alcoholic beverages as you stagger around the World Showcase you can take off hours equal to the number of ounces of liquor that you've had while putting up with the whiny uncooperative people in your 'party'.

If some one in your 'party' is running out of clean clothes and you have to hit the laundry room then you add 2 hours, but then again you can drink while you're doing laundry so those hours may be a wash.

For each hour you spend at storm-along bay subtract 1 hour.... unless you are an adult and you were foolish enough to go down that slide. Then you'll have to add 3 hours just for your back to bounce back from all that bumping.

If someone in your traveling 'party' has forgotten to pack something important, say like underwear, then you have to add 5 hours. Every time someone in your party gets lost, you add an hour, unless it's an in law or other undesirable, then you subtract 2 hours for every hour they are missing.

For each time you can't find your hotel room add an hour. They are numbered for God's sake so we've got to nail you with the clock. Likewise if you lose your car in one of those Disney parking lots. If you have to ride around with security to find your car in the parking lot add 4 hours.

As you can see the "Bounce Back Clock" is an essential piece of equipment for your Disney Vacation. There are more than a few families floating around that have accrued so many hours on their "Bounce Back Clock" that they may never get back to the parks, at least any time soon.

However there was once a woman who went alone to the parks on a solo trip.... NO Kids, NO Husband and NO Family members. She managed to book a trip at 50% off of everything and nothing at the parks was closed, under construction, or dysfunctional, even the (Disco) *Yeti was still working! It was sunny and 75 degrees all week and park attendance was at an all time low!

This was the only person EVER who did not have to make use of the "Bounce Back Clock".
