To tell you the truth dd got bored with the hair wrapping within a week so it definitely wasn't worth it for us.

Here's something I do with my dd's that they absolutely love. On one of our planned "resort days" we sleep late, swim in SAB, and then the girls and I have afternoon tea at the GF and then go to the GF Spa. They have tons of "My First" spa treatments - manicure, pedicure, massage, facial, or the ones my girls get called "My First Spa Experience" which is all 4 things. They get an allowance each week and we set aside that money for that day. I think it's $185 plus tip! DH takes ds for a "guys day" that day. They have lunch at ESPN, play games on the Boardwalk, go to the arcade etc. We usually meet up at Ohana for dinner. It's become our tradition.

Quick update - thanks to everyone who has kept my family in their thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate it.

My mom is doing a little bit better, responding better to the new antibiotics. It's definitely still day by day and a long road but we are thankful for any good news. The plan right now is for her to be on the new IV antibiotic for another 4 weeks and to have daily physical therapy. The ideal plan is for her to then have a 2 week rest and then have a new knee replacement surgery. If we can get to that point, DH and I have decided to take my mom to our house for those two or three weeks before the surgery. The way things have been I really want to be the one to take care of her then. My two sisters work full time so since I'm home the situation would be ideal.
I'm just hoping that we can get to that point.

Teena - I'll be thinking of you all day Tuesday. I know you'll come through it like a trooper.

Amanda - great news about your Mom!

Dee - how is the play still going on or did you take your last curtain call?

You're welcome.

If it's any consolation, it was DD's first wrap (she's 12) and even though it was a little painful with her head down and there was some pulling, she was patient and loves it (still) and doesn't want to take it out. They're sturdy and will literally last months and they do give you directions on how to remove it, when the time comes (now, where did I put that sheet?). I think your girls would love picking out the wrap colors and beads. It's also amazing to watch.

I hope you have a great vacation and hair wrapping experience:goodvibes

You're very sweet, thank-you! :goodvibes

The spa services sound like a lovely mother/daughters thing to do :cloud9:, I better start working some extra hours now

Also, good luck to your mom and I hope she continues on an upward path!

I'm glad to hear that things seem to be going well with your mom.

Thanks for asking, Robyn!

Two more shows. One tonight and a 2 PM matinee tomorrow. And that may literally be my last curtain call. Neither Ben nor I are doing Once Upon a Mattress (shows in June). Robin Hood is next up in the fall, but I really prefer behind the scenes (actually front of the house) to the stage.

I am seeing something interesting when looking at room pictures of Beach Club rooms. In some of the pictures I am seeing more updated, nicer furnishings with flat screen tvs and in some other pics, especially of the Villas, I am seeing, lets see how can I say put this, a more 1980s Jersey Shore beach motel look.

What gives? I am very close to booking a 2br BCV and am wondering what I could expect.

The Beach Club Resort is a whole different resort than the Beach Club Villas. The rooms and decor is entirely different.

To Teena, All those battling cancer, and All those with loved ones battling cancer...

My thoughts and prayers are with you. My mom has just been diagnosed with lymphoma. She had her first treatment 3 weeks ago and has another round on Monday and Tuesday of next week. My mom has always been so active, full of life, the center of attention kinda person. The lady that rides around town in a red convertible punch buggie with a bubble machine in the back seat. :rotfl2::rotfl2: Chemo has made her weak and tired. I really hate what the treatment has done to her. My prayer is that a cure will be found soon so this awful disease can be snuffed out.

The Epcot boat stop is BEFORE you enter EPCOT at the International Gateway. In other words, the Epcot boat dock is in between the side of the BC closest to Epcot and the International Gateway into Epcot. The Epcot boat dock is less than a 4 minute walk from the lobby of the BC. I clocked myself last year (and I'm old) and it took me 3 minutes and 22 seconds to walk to the International Gateway from the BC. The Monorail station is in the front of Epcot. So, you need to walk into Epcot at the International Gateway and then walk past UK, past Canada and then into Future World and all the way past everything in Future World to the very front of Epcot. It would be at least a 30 minute walk. Then you have to wait for the FIRST monorail. After taking that 10-15 minute monorail ride (after you wait for the monorail to get there), you get off at the TTC. Then you wait for the Express MK Monorail. After waiting for that monorail, you get on it and it takes about 5 minutes to get to MK UNLESS YOU GET STOPPED FOR TRAFFIC WHICH HAPPENS TO ME EVERY TIME I'M ON THAT MONORAIL.

I will second what Teena says. Last November dh and I were bringing dgs back for a rest. I thought it would be fun for the boys to ride the monorail from MK to YC. Wow was that ever the worst decision! The monorail stopped for traffic. It took us about an hour to get back to the YC. I forgot how long of a walk it is from the monorail station to the IG!

And you definitely don't want to do after a night at MK!! Ah, what you forget when you don't go for 12 years!

My 7 year old would like to get her hair wrapped when we go in September...is there somewhere near the BC to do this, or at the Boardwalk?

Anybody know a price range?

TIA!

My daughter wanted the same thing done, but we made her pay for it with her own money. So she decided to get the removable hair wraps instead. She has long hair so it was expensive but the ones that have aligator clips and beads where, I want to say they were 2 for $20, I may be off a little on price but i think its close. She likes them because she can take them in and out as much as she likes. Just a thought...

I so excited that I forgot we are even going to have to leave.
April 4-April 9.:yay:

So so sorry about your Mom. I hope the chemo does its job and she will be back driving that red convertible real soon!

Sorry that you mom has to go through this.

This might make you feel better. When my ds was 3 he was diagnosed with bone cancer. He had his leg amputated and underwent a year of the most aggressive chemo they could use. At that time the survival rate for Ewing's sarcoma was only 50% (thankfully much better odds now). The chemo definitely knocked him for a loop. Fast forward - He is now 26, completely cured, played football for his high school football team, graduated from college, and now has a good job, his own apartment and a nice girlfriend.

I had colon cancer almost 16 years ago. A year of chemo that wasn't nearly as bad as my son's but definitely was draining. Now only did I survive but went on to have three more children after the doctors told me that the chemo would put me in early memopause!

Tell her to hang tough - and eventually it will just be a distant memory.

Bet she'll back to her red convertible in no time!

I've never stayed at BCV before. Several times at BWV. So I've got a little idea of the "lay of the land". I keep seeing ideas on here about room requests but haven't caught on to the start of the stream. Are there "things" people would suggest as to room requests? I've never tried any "room requests" before except that the rooms be close to each other.:woohoo:

Hi Teena , wish you all the best for Tuesday !!

All you experts I have a room only reservation for BC . Am still studying Menus to see if DdP is worth it due to my hesitation with the monotony of kids menus !!

However was wondering if I can change my room only booking to a package with DDP even though my discount code ends tomorrow and was a room only code ?

Also who can put me on the june page 2nd to 8th !!!! cannot wait to be there !!!!!!

:cheer2:: All u wonderful people on this thread :grouphug:!!!!!!!!!!

take care !!!!

I am a stay at home who just had her first solo getaway at WL in Feb:thumbsup2. I absolutely loved it...peace, serenity and beauty. I am going to BCV in July with my family and am not feeling too excited about it. I don't know why. I think I am having WL withdrawls.

I stayed at the BC in 2003 w/DH prior to kids. This is our first DVC vacation since purchasing in Jan. and we chose BCV to celebrate. I need help from everyone here to convince me I will be happy at BCV and not missing my WL. I loved it before so why I am not feeling excited about this trip (not sure if I will like going in July to be quite honest, but extended family will only go in July). We chose BCV because of stormalong bay with hopes it will keep my boys ages 4 and 6 happy and cool in the heat :).

I keep looking at the pics and know how beautiful it is...I guess I just need some BCV love from faithful fans to help me get excited.
