We have a SV CL room in June. We're calling it Ds's Graduation Trip so we booked CL instead of a regular SC room. What should we really expect in CL? We've always been happy with just a SV room....I request a full balcony normally. Do I need to request a full balcony now or is there a chance we coudl be upgraded to Lagoon View? We've only been upgraded once because we had a split ressie

I would request full balcony.

Upgrades are nice but they happen far and few between.

Here's what you can expect with CL -

1. BC/YC IPO will make all your dining reservations. Also if you want to do
anything like an Illuminations cruise, spa treatments, kids pirate cruises
they will make those reservations for you.

2. CL lounge - they have a nice breakfast with items such as the "famous"
oatmeal, bagels, croissants, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, mini muffins,
juice, coffee etc.

3. During the afternoon they have soft drinks, cookies, homemade chips and
dip, yogurt covered pretzels, gummy worms, trail mix etc.

4. Evening appetizers - cheese and crackers, veg and dip, hummus and
bread, peanut butter and jelly cups, small soft rolls, a cold salad such as
lobster salad, tomato and mozzarella, and two hot appetizers such as
crab ragoons, chicken skewers, mini egg rolls, pot stickers, duck
quesedillas, bacon wrapped scallops, etc. They also have soft drinks,
wine and beer.

5. Late evening offerings - cookies, two or three mini desserts, and
cordials.

HTH!

For those who have reserved a Lagoon View - Club Level room at the Beach Club I was wondering have you ever been upgraded to their Deluxe Club Level room? Now I want to say I don't expect this to happen when my family and I check-in to the Beach Club this August and if we wanted to we could have reserved their Deluxe Room when we decided to stay there. However we choose not to reserve it because the Deluxe Rooms aren't located on the 5th floor where the Club Level lounge is, so that's why we reserved the Lagoon View. So I am wondering has this type of upgrade ever happened to you or anyone you know, because chances are if it happened to us we wouldn't want it.

Thanks DisneyMomX7, with the offerings I think we'll be ok since we didn't do the dining plan.

I will request the full balcony. I don't expect an upgrade since we've only had one and that was so we didn't have to switch rooms.

Illuminations cruise? need to look that up. I had wanted to make it a family trip and do a dessert party but ILs went on a Disney cruise for Spring Break and will not come with us. This might be another treat. Course I could just order a special cake to have at dinner one night.

Personally, I do not think you would be changed from a LV CL room to Deluxe room, as this would not actually be an upgrade. The deluxe room is actually less expensive than the LV CL room.

Hope that puts your mind at rest. :)

Opps, I guess we have to close the contest!! Jeanne has been told she has to have a scheduled C-Section. Of course, we don't know the date yet but if all sonograms keep coming out the same and things progress like they have so far, her doctor said they will schedule the C-Section for one week before what they decide is her due date (to avoid her going into labor). So, when Southwest slashed their airfares due to the hole in the ceiling of the plane, I booked my June trip, mine and Bob's Peanut trip (July) and my August/September trip out there. I can always change them if the OB/GYN changes the due date and hence the scheduled C-Section date, but if all stays on the course it is going on now, Jeanne thinks Peanut will be arriving on 7/11. And for the record, Bob thinks (he says he is absolutely sure) it's a girl. I think it's a boy. If I could push a button and pick, I'd pick a girl because I would love to buy each and every princess dress made!!!!!

Teena - How about July 13th!!!! I was so close. She would be a very welled dressed princess!

Glad you could schedule your flights with such good airfare!

Sounds like a plan! Teena I thought you'd be gone the whole time we are there so this really is great news!

July 24 is our Spa Day, but July 25th is a go for me.

So let's say July 25th, 6:00, Mini Dis Meet at the BC Solarium! So far is looks like me, Teena and
DisMom72!
Who's in?

Looks like I am going to miss the Dis meet and Teena :sad1: Darn, would have enjoyed a Dis meet! We are booked from July 16 - July 22... subject to change as we are also currently planning to drive. Very, excited as DS19 was home this past weekend for my brothers wedding and says he WOULD like to go to Disney! :thumbsup2

Robyn - so have you driven the trip straight through in the past? I would love to do this as well, but we have actually never driven. We have planned several times and then airfare popped up we could not resist!

The storms here in NC were terrible. Thankfully, we and the rest of my family in different parts of eastern NC went unharmed. Unfortunately, alot of people didn't fair the same.:sad1:

We were actually offered an upgrade from YC CL LV to a two bedroom suite at BC two trips ago and we declined. I know, many of you are shaking your heads in disbelief but I just love that view from the YC across Crescent Lake. It's a personal thing............:cool1:

Well, I personally love scheduled c-sections. I'm a planner. Will this hopefully mean you may, just MAYbe there when I'm there 8/22-30??? Wishful thinking? :woohoo:

I just wanted to let you know that I think your GV/CL room numbers are probably spot on and my GV veil of confusion has been lifted:thumbsup2.

I switched from the BC to the YC yesterday (:goodvibes) and requested a room w/o a connecting door. I then asked the IPO if they could confirm that there are only 5 GV/CL rooms and if any of them don't have a connecting door. Annie replied and said that 3 out of the 5 do not have connecting doors.

My confusion started because last year I also booked a YC/GV/CL room, but I was apparently upgraded because we were in room 5197 overlooking SAB (which I actually didn't want). I thought we just didn't get our gazebo request and that we were in a partial water view room since there were some minor tree obstructions. Now I know from both you and the IPO that we were actually on the opposite side from the GV rooms:rolleyes1.
Well, doesn't that "stink" that you get an upgrade you don't want! :lmao: But it's better than a downgrade that I received at the WL! I booked woods view and received parking lot and roof top. I actually had to "lightly argue" with the front desk to convince them this was NOT a woods view. I was then upgrade to water view (villa pool). Nice beautiful resort, but it ain't no YC. :sad2:

No -- We po' folk are staying garden view at the YC, which I had to almost rip my husband's arm off while twisting it to pay for the upgrade from standard. He's thinking $80+ more a week could be better spent. Oh SURE, I could spend it on some booze baby, but I'll just do that anyway. LOL.

:thumbsup2 Which is why we finally "splurged" for the better view!

:laughing::laughing: Too funny. Yeah, GV is kind of a no brainer!

I guess we just caught a cast member on a bad day. No worries though. We got a great room and really enjoyed our stay. No complaints about the Poly. I'm just still looking for the resort that feels like home. Haven't found it yet but I sure do like trying! :lovestruc We aren't picky about which room we get, since we don't spend very much time in them.

I'm also not staying CL. :rotfl2:

I also get excited trying new resorts! I'm really looking forward to our first stay at BC :goodvibes

I could not believe the TV footage. Glad you are safe.

My brother's wedding was scheduled outside yesterday on the Chesapeake Bay here in Maryland, the outside part did not happen, the storm here was pretty bad as well, but obviously not as bad as NC.

You turned down a 2 bedroom suite, Wow! (not view of Crescent Lake, I presume). I do totally understand the Lagoon View at YC! :cloud9:

We stayed in room 4131 last week at they YC and this was our view (they had three weddings while we were there):

Ok - I'd like in BUT we have a 5:35 ressie at Yachtsman!! I'll at least try and check in with Teena. Perhaps everyone will get along so well - it will still be going on after dinner. ::yes::

I have a quick and probably stupid (lol) question.....

How easy is it to get to different areas of Stormalong Bay?? I printed out the lovely aerial view labeled map. It looks tricky but I'm not the best map reader that ever lived!!!? We are staying at BC....will it be hard to get over to the kiddie area? Or is it a piece of cake to move from one area to the other? What's the best way to get to the kiddie pool to from BC?

Only 41 more days!!!:cool1:

It's very easy! We usually get to the kiddie area by walking straight down the Crescent Lake path and turning right at Hurricane Hanna's sign into the pool area. If you go in and walk past Hurricane Hanna's, you'll see a lifeguard on the left near the towel bin checking cards and handing out wristbands. The kiddie area will be there on your left - very easy! :) If you'd like to get over to the kiddie pool at the base of the pirate ship, just turn left instead of right where you see the Hurricane Hanna's sign.

Sorry you'll miss the meet but we definitely WILL MEET UP THIS TIME!!!!
Third time's the charm!!!

Yes we drove straight through in 2009. On the way back we stop in Hilton Head for 4 nights to recuperate from Disney.

We left NJ about 9:00 pm. I packed sandwiches, bagels, fruit, chips, granola bars, etc. and drinks. We only stopped for gas, coffee and bathroom breaks. Although I'm sure if it was up to DH he would have skipped the bathroom breaks (men!). It wasn't bad at all. I actually drove through most of the night because DH had worked all day. There wasn't much traffic so it was fine. We got to Orlando around 3:00 in the afternoon. We stay at a DTD hotel that night, have our traditional first night dinner at RFC and check in bright and early to our Disney hotel!

I was thinking of you when I saw the television coverage. So glad you are safe and sound!

I'll be thinking of you when we drive through Lumberton!

You gave up a 2 bedroom suite? Wow you really are THE YCFAN!!!!

That was my first TR and I didn't realize that asking for it to be moved to the "Completed" section would prevent others from posting! Silly me!

So you are the last official poster on the thread.

Shameless plug- If you want to see what it is like to tour the Disney parks in the summer with the energizer bunny, this is the report for you! Click on the link in my signature.

OK, and now for the confessional, since pixarmom has mentioned it.

Forgive me Beachers, for I have sinned!

I have booked a trip to "The Other Orlando". We were not planning on going to Florida at all this summer. But I am a huge Harry Potter fan and our family has never been to US. We really love marine creatures and it has been 7 years since a visit to Sea World. So we have have a 5 day/4 night stay at the Portofino Bay Hotel at US to take advantage of the early entry and Front of the Line privileges at US/IOA, and we will be getting two-day tickets to Sea World.

We booked our trip, told the kids, and they said "But why aren't we going to Disney?" Sound familiar, creativeamanda? Actually, Mark is the one really pushing for a visit to the MK, since we will be "so close".

So on my TR, I asked should we or shouldn't we- Mark and I have decided that I will research all of the transportation options (we are not currently planning to rent a car), I have checked into the park hours for those days, and I am charging up my Disney Visa like there is no tomorrow in case we need to purchase 4 one-day tickets. We will not decide until we get there, but will be fully prepared with all of our options to spend a night at the Magic Kingdom during our visit.

So pixarmom- to answer your question way back when- we will decide when we get there, we are not telling the boys we are considering this so it will be surprise to them.

BTW for anyone who is concerned about me springing the news like this- Teena knows about the trip, and she will probably be in Vegas while during the time we are in Orlando.

phew! that feels better! Ticker coming soon.

Sounds great. Last time we were at Universal HP World was fenced off, and Tropical Storm Fay made touring really fun  One day we'll get back. Staying on site for Front of the Line is the only way to go. I think we rode Simpsons 4X in a row. Love it even more then Spidy.

Does anybody know if the doors between adjoining rooms are magnetic, as in steel doors? I was planning on going to the dollar store and getting one of those dry erase markers and boards and put it in between the doors of my adjoining room with my sister when we are at the Beach Club.

Her husband thinks we should just text each other which would work fine if were in just 2 separate groups but I don't fancy texting all the separate phones (6 total!) with instructions should we be all over that place like I know we will.

I'm thinking the board on the door will get the job done when we connect back at the hotel and just need to let each other know if we are napping and do not disturb or if someone is at the pool and is waiting for us there.

Any way you get the idea.

So are they steel/magnetic or do I need to invent wooden magnets?

Marlton Mom
